Do piercings make the metal detectors at airports go off?
So I saw a question about this recently, and it made me wonder. I have my ear lobes pierced, and an ear cartilage piercing, plus a nose piercing, monroe, and a side labret. The piercings won't make the airport metal detector go off, right? I really don't think so, but I had to check! My lip piercings are the plastic body jewelry, and I'm not sure about my nose and cartilage-They're whatever the piercer put in, they are silver though, so they could be metal.
Will the airport metal detectors go off for a Belly Button Piercing?
it most likely will not set the metal detector off. my sister has her belly button pierced as well as her tongue and multiple ear piercings and they have never set it off. no you would not be able to take it out at that point. not even for 5 minutes. you're not gonna be able to get it back in cuz its not healed yet. should have thought this through before you stupidly got your belly button pierced 3 weeks prior to flying with your parents.
Does a nose ring set off metal detectors?
I travel ALL the time and my wedding ring and engagement ring NEVER set off metal detectors. As long as your nose ring has no more metal than a wedding ring, and if it did, I'd think it would pull off your nose, then you should be fine. The few times I've been "wanded", they stop at things like my watch and rings and do not make me remove them.

nope! i have my septum, four on each ear, and my industrial, my webing under my tongue, and my smiley&frowny. two with pure silver barbells, various ones with stainless steel, a gold plated one, and a metal one. and i've never set off an alarm.

Keep it in. I've never known anyone whose stainless steel piercings have made an alarm go off. Even if it goes off, the worst that can happen is they take you aside and run a wand over you and discover that it's just your ear. Nobody is going to make you take it out.
Will my belly button ring set off the metal detector at a prison?
It shouldn't. I've gone through metal detectors before without mine setting anything off. Even if it does it's no big deal, just show them. What your teacher probably meant was jewelry like rings, necklaces, earrings...anything valuable that would tempt a prisoner to steal from you. They can't see the belly ring so no one will even know about it, and it's nothing to steal anyway because it's not like it's encrusted with a bunch of diamonds or anything.
Can I leave my nose ring in through airport security?
I have never had a problem with jewlery, and I often fly with silver jewery and earrings. I have never set off the metal detector with jewlery. I have never heard of it happening. I dont think the amount of metal in a nose ring should be enough to alert the security guards. I wouldn't worry about it.
