Do you feel that monitoring of employee activity on the computer is ethically sound? ?
It's perfectly ethical. My company, my computers, my rules. Came in handy when I suspected (and confirmed) that someone here was stealing things to sell through their own company. But I don't support ongoing, constant monitoring for its own sake unless you're dealing with very sensitive data and can't risk confirming after the fact that there's been a leak. I don't care if anyone is just idly surfing to pass the time during quiet periods.

A: If they never had access to your computer and you are sure they have no other devices turned on - then no. Q: Can they contact my ISP and determine what sites I have been viewing? A: Your ISP has that information but is not supposed to give it out freely on request unless you are under some sort of investigation by the authorities There are a LOT of ways they can use to monitor your internet activity, considering they have physical access to your computer and access to your network. So a good piece of information here would be how computer-literate they are. If you are sure they haven't installed any software on your laptop, the easiest way to track you is through packet-sniffing. Packet sniffing even with tools would be quite hard for the average parent, my bet is - they are just messing with you. I will give you a 100% way to find out if they are tracking you and possibly - make sure they never consider tracking your activity again. I bet my teenager-self wouldn't have the balls to do it if in your situation, but maybe you do. Download a large amount of sick, twisted adult content (animals, gross stuff, whatever you can find, maybe make sure nothing in there is illegal). Try running some of it in a media player (don't look at it, just mute, run, minimize). Leave it on for half an hour. You can delete everything afterwards (and take a bath if you feel dirty). Watch your parents' reaction in the next week, if you see no changes - they aren't tracking you. If they confront you - explain you did it on purpose to teach them a lesson in respecting your privacy. Maybe show them this post to prove.

I'm pretty sure my husband's up to no-good. He deletes email as soon as I walk into the room and logs off in light speed. How can I monitor what he's doing? I've heard about software that keeps a record of information sent out and coming in of a specific computer. But he has a computer at work too. Is this spyware? Where can I buy it, how do I use it and will he know? HELP!!!
