As an Irish person, do you think St. Patrick’s Day is insulting?
There is nothing insulting about St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland. What a strange idea.What is insulting are the racist t-shirts with ignorant sayings and pictures. They include ‘ drunk lives matter’, ‘Im so Irish my liver hurts’, ‘Irish today hungover tomorrow’. Ireland is 21st on the list of countries consuming the most alcohol.The depiction of Irish people as short, fat, green clad men with red hair and peculiar hats, is atrocious. That is not a Leprechaun. That is a result of the carricatures made by the English to make fun of the Irish. A Leprechaun according to folklore, is an elf with pointy ears.A four leaf clover is not a shamrock.There is a drink called an Irish car bomb. Not funny.So lets look at say, Martin Luther King Day and people dress up as black people, and wear insulting t-shirts with stereotypical comments. That would very abruptly be stopped. BECAUSE IT’S RACIST.This racism is so prevalent in the United States that stores like Walmart and even Amazon sell inappropriate t-shirts. There are Irish groups that have called for the ban of offensive clothing.Americans have made a farce of St. Patrick’s Day and it isn’t even theirs.
I need insults for tall people?
My short friend and i get made fun of by my roomate for being vertically challenged so we are trying to find some good tall insults. one he left us was" short people are the last to be rained on but the first to drown." we replied "im glad your so tall it gives us more to hate". This is all in good fun from friend to friend and we just want some good comebacks so gimme your best/worst.

Im in 8th grade, and I moved from America to Egypt. I used to make fun of Egypt and I kept telling all of my classmates that Americas way better than Egypt . In my class, everyone makes fun of each other. whenever someone insults me, i end up feeling humiliated because i got dissed and couldnt come up with a comeback. once I used a comeback I heard someone using once but then the guy who insulted me was like, lol, that's sooo old! **When my classmates insult America theyre basically insulting me. no offense to anyone*** 1) today, in Turkish class we were learning the names of some countries in Turkish. anyways, the American flag was there. so when the teacher got to the American flag, one boy made that gross sound men make when they spit (kkkhhhh tshfoo) or whatever. that was sooooo F$%$*n insulting tho and I felt my face get hot and other guys started cursing at America too. the girls looked at me and they were like, yo, theyre cursing your country, say something ( they were laughing)... so guess what I did..... NOTHING... I seriously hate myself. especially since they would literally do anything to go to the us --- I need a comeback to use whenever someone insults me like that 2) during English, if I get a mistake wrong, everyone starts making fun of me and theyre like, youre not from America! youre from (name of a disgusting village)... 3) if I do something stupid, they go like, " they taught u to do that in your country?" 4) I love playing sports but I kinda suck at them when boys r watching. so if they go like, why do u even try, u suck like hell!" .......... what do I tell them? ,my vision sucks like hell. im 13 and I was supposed to wear glasses since I was 10. I wore them for a few weeks but now I don't wear them in front of anyone. I think everyone knows I need glasses and im like blind without them ( im fine without them, I just cant copy of the board even if its like, 3 feet away) I really want to better in school so I want to start wearing them and a lot of girls told me I look prettier in them , but I think theyre saying that to be nice if I do wear them and anyone starts making fun of me, what comebacks can I use. btw, everyday, when I wake for for school, I go like, today im gonna wear glasses in school. once I arrive there, I go like, helllll no

The most offensive word to a man is going to be "cabron" (at least in Puerto Rico, Mexicans don't take it so seriously). "Cabron" means your woman is cheating on you. It is a very dangerous insult, the kind of thing that gets you stabbed or shot. The most offensive word to a woman is going to be "puta." "Puta" in Puerto Rico takes the same meaning as "filthy whore" here in the states. BTW, "vete a la mierda" means "go to hell," it is pretty mild when it comes to insults. "Vete al carajo" means the same.
Why are British people so full of self-hatred?
Most countries absolutely adore themselves, their history, their culture and their language and can often be quite offended when you insult their country, or accuse them of being uncultured in any way. Yet in Britain, you never hear people praising there own country, and when they do talk about British people its always in a negative light. Quite often you'll hear British people talking about how awful, violent and uncultured British holiday makers are, and they often refer to them as "brit scum", yet the reality is, British holiday makers are no worse than Scandinavians, Germans, French, etc, and yet you wouldn't find these other nationalities insulting and belittling themselves in the same manner the British do. To be honest, this self hatred seems to be specifically an English thing, as the Scottish, Welsh (and Irish) believe themselves to be the best thing since sliced bread, and you would never catch them insulting their own nations. I don't get why British people think that European nations are any more cultured than the British. Spain, for example, suffers from the same social issues and levels of violence that Britain does. Britain had the IRA, Spain has ETA that still commit brutal terrorist attacks to this day. Madrid is just as violent a city as London, and suffers from the same levels of street violence, gang culture and in areas poverty. Why are British people so convinced that we are scum and the rest of the world is oh so cultured, couthed and respectable when the truth is many countries are no better than the UK?
Let's say I make fun of someone's mother. Do I have the right to do it and defend it as an act of free speech? If everyone did that, how would the world work?
Of course you do. And I defend your right to behave like a 10-year old if you wish. However, if your antagonist responds like a ten year old--via a punch to your nose--don't be surprised. Most of us learned on the playground that insults towards another male's mother are made at risk to one's own health. I am sorry you didn't learn that lesson earlier; the punch hurts a lot more when delivered by an adult. Sometimes that punch isn't literal. It may come in a more creative form:Stealing your girl friend. Lying to get you fired from a job. Spreading nasty rumors about you in your living situationHumiliating you in class in front of 30 of your peers. So while you are fully entitled to behave like a jerk if you wish, it rarely serves your long term interests. And when confronted about your own dickish behavior, the safest thing for both your health and social position is to apologize, rather than trying to defend your freedom of speech.
