Does Breathing Through The Mouth Cause More Gas / Flatulence

Can you get sick from breathing a sick person's fart?

I think this is a brilliant question - the answer is almost always ‘No’. A few years a go a Christmas BMJ article from Australia (predictably) demonstrated that a single layer of clothing was sufficient to prevent faecal bacteria being expelled onto a microbial culture plate (you can read it here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc... in case you think I just make this S*** up!).So, unless the fart is inhaled from close range (likely 5cm or less) and from a naked anus, there is likely to be zero microbial aerosolisation and hence no chance of becoming infected. Even if you were to inhale a fart under those conditions it is very likely that the microbial load would be low, and your immune system would rapidly clear it before infection took hold - but frankly it would be an unpleasant experience even without getting sick.

What are the effects of mouth breathing on digestion?

Mouth breathing is totally oppositeto nature because nature donated wind pipe and lungs just for consumption of oxygen and removal of carbon dioxide….But if you take air to your stomach whether by taking during dinner or by mouth inhalation…it just like as you fill pressure during gastroscopy(which is useful to detect problem from mucosa) but it is different as….When you do so your stomach get distended, and you may overlap it with stomach cramps…due to this digestion is not efficiently as normal stomach perform…Secretions from stomach walls also effected, which also lead to poor digestion…Similarly the air wo inhale is not filtered or completely free of germs…so inhaled germs alone with …some of which are not destroyed by gastric juice and even by HCl…so they may cause poor digestion or possibly may cause food poisoning…

Does breathing through the mouth cause the formation of gas in the stomach?

Unless you are intentionally swallowing the air, breathing through your mouth will not be more likely to cause air (gas) accumulation in your stomach. Air breathed in through the nose and through the mouth go through a common passage, the oropharynx, on its way to the larynx which is where it is directed into your lungs. When you chew food, air is mixed with the food and gets swallowed along with it. Similarly, when you drink a liquid (especially if through a straw), the air gets swallowed along with the liquid. Much of the gas in your stomach is the result of these processes. If you drink carbonated drinks, this adds to the volume of gas that is swallowed.Certain foods in your stomach will react with the acid in the stomach to create gas.

Cure for chronic flatulence?

Usually it's due to poor food combination.

Also, once you stop eating meat and dairy (which backs up your digestive tract) suddenly your bowls can move more freely and start to clean out and get on their way to better digestion.

Do a search for "food combination"
You can find articles such as these ones (just a random examples):

Also try to build up your digestive flora. You can buy digestive flora pills and eat soy yogurt and other probiotic foods.
Look up "digestive flora" and "probiotic foods".

It does take time for the body to adjust to a better diet and for your system to stop expecting the things you used to eat.

Quit all sugar for the time being. Sugar feeds the 'bad' bacteria and yeasts in your system. Quit things that kill off the good bacteria such as white vinegar. I'm sure you can find a list searching for the above key words or phrases.

Does swallowing mucus give you gas?

Flatus has 2 sources. Exogenous that means swallowing air and endogenous that means when certain food stuffs like beans and dairy product is taken in excessive quantity.

Now lets try and link your cold and mucus to your increased flatulence.

When you have cold you breath in through your mouth, heightening your chance of swallowing air. Swallowing mucus may also increase the amount of air being swallowed in alongside the mucus.

For your cold maybe you are on hot soup or other food stuff which are known to metabolize and produce gas within the intestine.

These may be the reason for your increased flatulence.

If someone farts in your mouth, can you taste it?

Yes, because taste and smell are linked together. However, smell needs less smell stimuli to activate than taste stimuli. You'll need a pretty smelly fart to be able to taste it. But when you're that close to a butt, and the butt belongs to a dragon, I suppose that's going to surely happen!

The gases in farts that smell; hydrogen sulphide, methanethiol, dimethyl sulphide, dimethyl disulphide and dimethyl trisulphide, they can definitely activate the taste buds. It's going to taste beautifully foul!

You ever heard of the expression where you smelled such a smelly fart, that you wanted to breathe through your mouth, only for the fart to be so thick that it can be tasted? That's what I'm talking of!
