Does Forearm Muscles Really Help In Punching Power

What muscles do you use for punching?

Sounds like another school project dude too lazy to do research.

But hey I don't blame ya. The net's info is too money hungry.

Basic punch with no twisting
(Not including synergists, local & global stabilizers)

Movement pattern assuming hand is already turned over (pronated):

Horizontal shoulder flexion
Elbow extension

Muscles (I won't name all of them just the big players):

Prime Mover/Agonist - Pec Major, Anterior Deltoid, Tricep,

Antagonist -Middle Trapezius, Infraspinatus, Supra Spinatus, Bicep, Posterior Deltoid.

Does forearm muscles really help in punching power?

What is everyone here talking about? If forearm muscles did not increase punching power, why would Bruce Lee be a forearm fanatic? It doesnt take a genuis.

How important are forearms when it comes to punching power?

I never really paid much attention to this until recently reading some stuff on the web.

Bruce Lee believed punching power came from the forearms and would spend hours doing weight training for them, squeezing 300lbs hand grips and doing special push ups to build his forearm strength.
Don't believe me? Watch this;

The guy falls about 3ft backwards from a one-inch punch, only forearms - nothing else.

I also read Rampage Jackson, a big-hitting MMA fighter did a lot of grip and strength training for his hands and forearms and when asked he said 'Stronger grip means harder punches.'

How do you feel about this?

Do you agree/disagree? And why?

Can clap push-ups help my punching power or speed?

Surely. Also another to try, for stronger punches and increased punching endurance on the hands:
try doing pullups while holding tennis balls or stress balls on your palms (pressed between your hands and the pullup bar)...this will greatly increase both grip strength and the strength of muscles in your hands.

Where does a punch's power mainly come from?

What's the main source of punching power? I'm pretty sure it's not in the arm muscles such as triceps or biceps. Does it come from your shoulders? Does it come from your lower body, calves or thighs? Does it depend on how your rotate your torso as you punch? Does it depend on your balance and your center of gravity? I know it could be a combination of things but I'm asking for the main source.

Btw, I have no background in boxing or kickboxing but I am a tae kwon do and judo martial artist so the power sources I'm mentioning are the one's I know for my craft and may not be the case for boxing of course.
