You need a publisher, ad revinue, investors, a talent pool of people to write and photograph things for your magazine, and distributors to get it on book shelves in stores. These days its not uncommon to write for a magazine or newspaper first, then when you have demonstrated your capabilities and networked a bit, move on to creating your own magazine.
