Does The Military Torture

Should Torture be Legal?

I have to wrie an english paper on whether or not i believe torture should be legal.I believe that in miitary use it should be legal to gather information, and in cases where a terrorist has planted a bomb, we shouold be able to torture to get the information of where the bomb is. Tell me what you think. What level of government should do the torture? Who should do the torturing?

Do military aviators go through the "torture" part of SERE school?

Yes, SERE = Survival - Evasion - Resistance - Escape. How can you 'resist' if you don't experience "torture"?

Tickling the feet of military trainees?

I'm dating this guy who is a navy seal. He has told me that as part of his training he had to undergo "interrogation resistance" training (or something like that). He said that during one of the exercises, several of them were tied down in only their pants - bare chest and bare feet - to padded tables and were tickled by senior officers until someone broke. He said their underarms, stomachs and feet were tickled mercilessly until one of them shouted the 'code word' for surrender. Not until then would the tickling stop on any of them. He said this took place over a couple of days and each time the tickling went on for 2 or 3 hours non-stop. Apparently, guys who aren't ticklish were removed to do some substitute exercise.
I know this guy is pretty damn ticklish. He can't stand it actually, especially his feet. So this must have been hard for him. He said that he wasn't supposed to be discussing it.

My question is, has anyone heard of such a training, or is he making this up?

Does the Navy seals training literally torture you to death?

To death? Basically yes. The training is designed to take you to hell, get a hotel, and live there for a few years. So that way when you get back to life, there is nothing that will break you. (Ghetto metaphor but you get my point)

Not only do they need to be in amazing physical condition and have a very high mental aptitude, but they also have to be mentally tough, far more then most men ever will be.

This is the one section of the military that is truly like its portrayed on TV, unlike the other 95% which totally is off what real military life is.

SEAL's are the gate keepers to the biggest government secrets. Information, that if got into the wrong hands, could risk national security. A seal knows the real meaning of "never give up." The training is so tough, it creates men so strong, you can be in the process of chopping their legs off with a chainsaw, and they still would not give up the information. Ever herd the saying "I could tell you, but then i would have to kill you"? Well yah, that is actually protocol as a SEAL.

Does "Tickle Torture" go against the Geneva Conventions?

Tickling to excess is recognized as abusive behavior.
If you have ever been tickled past the point of it being just a joke you know how panicked you can get.
Since at some time or another it does usually happen to a kid, you can see where something that sounds so innocent can be abused and become abusive.
Many things can leave no marks when done properly, but still be against the Geneva Conventions, certainly water boarding is, as it is specifically mentioned, but, I'm ashamed to say, that didn't stop what was done in our name.
Through two world wars, and many smaller ones, we never had to stoop to torture, only George Bush thinks that needed to be done in out name.
