Does The Oil Cleansing Method Really Work

Does the oil cleansing method for faces work?

Yes it does work, if you use washes or soaps to wash with these strip your skin of it's natural oils so the skin has to overcompensate to make up for what it looses when you wash. With OCM because you're using oil it means your skin doesn't have to produce that extra oil any more, and because of the types of oils used they whatever traces of oil are left on the skin after cleansing will be absorbed into the skin so help prevent excessive oil production. That's the whole point of OCM, oil is good for your skin, unless you have so much that it sits on your skin collecting dirt and bacteria which leads to spots, OCM balances out your skin so it doesn't get overly oily thus why it works to prevent acne, dry skin and oily skin.

Prior to using OCM I had bad acne on my chin, flaking skin on my nose and forehead, and VERY oily skin particularly around my chin and nose - as well as not having acne anymore or flaking skin my skin isn't oily either. I noticed this about a week after I started using OCM after a shopping trip on a hot day, when my nose would normally have been swimming in oil, I found my nose wasn't at all oily instead it was soft as a babies bottom :-)

It's a good basic mix to start with - I started with 50% castor oil and 50% extra virgin olive oil, and pretty much stuck to that - I tried 100% jojoba oil once as this is closer to skins natural oils, but it became too heavy in the hot weather so went back to the old mix. See how it works out for you, experiment with different oils, grapeseed oil might be one to try if the castor oil and olive oil mix doesn't work out for you, but with that said I don't see why it wouldn't. Good luck!

Oil Cleansing Method?

Okay so I am 16 and I have generally clear skin with the occasional couple zits or blackheads and I recently tried this new method of cleansing your face with Olive oil and Castor oil. I have only been doing this method for about 2 weeks, and in the very beginning it had great results! smoother skin, less oily skin, and i didn't need to worry about my skin as much, i only washed it at night and it was fine for the whole next day! But within the past 5 days to a week of using this method my skin has acquired little zit like bumps and black heads ALL OVER! they aren't very noticeable from a distance so i didn't really worry about them, i just thought it was my skin completely cleansing itself by getting rid of all the crap that's been in it by pushing it out through these tiny zits. But now it is really starting to bug me! Because none of these little zits or blackheads are going away!? they just seem to be multiplying!? And now my skin feels rough to the touch and its very annoying because i've always been used to it being smooth! So I don't know whether to continue on with this method and let all these gradually go away and in return have gorgeous skin, or to stop this method and go back to my old facial cleanser. I think it might be normal for this to occur being i've only been doing this for about 2 weeks, but i just need some advice! If any of you have experience with this or even just a good response they would all be greatly appreciated and helpful :)
thanks!

How do I detox my skin after Oil Cleansing Method?

So about a month ago I tried the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) once and I failed miserably. I don't know if I did it wrong, if my skin wasn't the right kind of skin for this method, or if the Extra Virgin Olive Oil I used had gone rancid. My face has never been worse than this. I used to have pretty good skin with a few pimples, but now I have tiny bumps all over my face (mostly on my chin and cheeks) and a lot of red dots everywhere. I can't stand the way it looks. I was wondering if anyone knew of some kind of detoxing method to really get into the pores and eliminate any of the olive oil that might still be there. I have washed my face like I usually do, but it still looks horrible and new pimples are developing even if I havent used OCM in about a month. I have tried ProActiv but it didn't do anything for me.

Please! I need help, It's summer and I can't even go out without make up on because it looks so gross!

And to anyone who wants to do OCM on your face, please reseach what oils would work with your face and always buy a new bottle of the oil you're gonna use. I can't warn people enough about trying this method without doing some solid background research. It ruined my face.

Oil Cleansing Method purging or breakout?! Help!?

Has anyone tried the oil cleansing method? I have been doing this method for a little over a week, using 75% grapeseed oil to 25% castor oil. Immediately I noticed some purging on my forehead, I never break out on my forehead but within a few days the pimples were gone. At about the 1 week mark, I started to have a BAD breakout around my chin/right and left sides of my mouth. It is pretty bad, it is the kind that itches and hurts. There are tiny whiteheads that are constantly forming but also some bigger postules. The last time I broke out this bad, it was when I started a new cleansing system, and it eventually did clear up my skin really well. I need some advice though! These are the areas I constantly break out, so I am wondering if it is my skin purging (there must be a lot of bacteria/clogged pores in this area!) or if my skin is just not liking the oil cleansing method. I had tiny little white bumps on my chin FOREVER that never came to a head and now I noticed that they have been purging with the ocm! I hope the awful breakout I've been having is just my skin purging, but I am not too sure. Anyone else experience something similar? I also want to add that I do this once a day at night, and I make sure I get off all the oil with a hot washcloth. Would appreciate feedback because I want to know if I should stick it out or if I should discontinue it!

Oil cleansing method, good for getting rid of acne?

Yes, the oil cleansing method is good for getting rid of acne. Olive oil is a semi-risky oil that causes acne in some people, read it here http://www.livestrong.com/article/159070-vegetable-oils-acne/ Use 100% pure sunflower oil instead, it is totally safe. You also have to exfoliate your skin properly while doing the oil cleansing method, otherwise your acne will become bad. The washcloth you use while doing the oil cleansing method is suppose to exfoliate your skin, but I think some people are not doing it correctly which is why their acne is becoming worse while doing this method. Here is the proper way to exfoliate with a washcloth http://skincare.lovetoknow.com/Exfoliate_with_a_Washcloth
