Does This Sound Like It Could Be Oral Cancer

I'm 17... Do I have oral cancer?!?!?!?

I have these two bumps that are located behind my lower front teeth (on the gums, but near the floor of my mouth.) These bumps are not visible, but I can feel them with my tongue and finger. I have had these bumps for about 4 months now. They just randomly showed up one day. Over time, the bumps have flattened out a bit (but they are still there.) They do also change shape. They also appear to get bigger when I mess with them and they get smaller again when I stop messing with them. Overall, these bumps are smooth, moveable, painless, and colorless. They also seem to be filled with liquid, but it also feels like it is an actual bump as well. What could it be? Could it be oral cancer?! I'm only 17, so any input would be appreciated.

Do I have oral cancer??? please help i'm so scared?

Cancer? Highly unlikely.

Given your age, the length of time you have been smoking and more importantly, the fact that you have one lump on EACH side of your mouth, leads me to believe these 2 'lumps' are the openings of your salivary glands - the technical name is Stenson's duct. They are normal anatomical features and we all have them. They can be more pronounced in some people but they are supposed to be there.

Stop smoking, stop messing/pulling at them and if you're that concerned have your doctor check it out and make certain you have no infection of some kind. Rinse your mouth with some warm salt water several times a day for 2-3 days for safe measure and try not to obsess.

Does smoking change how your voice sounds? If so, how does that happen? Does smoking different things change it in different ways?

Smoking does not change your voice! Not until you have smoked a lifetime! Then you’ll have this raspy, gravelly voice at about the same time as you are told that you have cancer of the larynx! To try to save your life, the doctors will surgically remove your larynx (voice box) and leave you with this nasty hole in your throat. You’ll have to keep a handkerchief wrapped around your neck to hide your nasty, stinky, hole.Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you. You won’t have any voice then. To speak, you will have this little device as big as an electric shaver. But it doesn’t shave anything! It’s a vibrator! You’ll hold it against your throat, and move your mouth as if you were talking. And the vibrations will become how your voice sounds.I’m not lying, I have witnessed a person this has happened to, still smoking! And because that opening in their neck is a direct opening into their lungs, they puffed that cigarette through their throat opening!!!! They couldn’t inhale by mouth since that surgery left their wind-pipe open, and they held the burning cigarette filter-tip into their open throat and inhaled it by using their fingers to close the hole around their cigarette!!! FACT!!! Don’t fucking smoke!!!!

Could this be tongue cancer?

Okay so this just happened yesterday. I had a small sore spot on the side (almost under) my tongue. When I looked in the mirror the spot wasn t really that noticable it just looked a little redish/whitish but it wasnt really noticable... Sorry if that didnt make sense but i hope you follow me. So then when I woke up this morning the spot on the side of my tongue has gotten alot more noticable and it is a white/yellow/cream colour but it is very small (the size of a freckle) it doesn t really hurt as much as it did yesterday but still hurts a small bit when i move my tongue vigorously around my mouth. I looked up the synptoms of tongue cancer and I only have one of those symptoms so far which is that spot at the side of my tongue... I m extremely worried. Btw I am only 15 years old and I m female. All this has only happened within the period of two days and I know that s a short time but it s better to be assured than sorry.

Could these bumps on the roof of my mouth be cancer?

Rest assured, if it were cancer after one year it wouldn’t be just very small bumps anymore. Your GP is right, like many teens you’re (more than) a bit of a hypochondriac. You can read a lot of things on the web, many unverfied since any idiot can write anything on the web, you don’t even know if it were applicable to you, sounding like you’re starting to blindly panic. Remember, in de US a GP has done four years of postgraduate med school, plus a three year residency totaling seven years of medical education against your zero years, yet you hate your GP disagreeing with you?Small bump do normally occur on a normal palate, see e.g. slide 5 of this slide show Palate

Is this tongue cancer ?

my mom has had these odd bumps on the side of her tongue that are a discomfort and like a bit painful and we've went to the doctor like 4 times now its been 4 months the symptoms are the same nothing more or less and like we've tried like 3-4 differnt medications for sinus infection, tongue infection and stuff is it cancer ? the doctor sed it wasnt and a different doctor too but my mom is still unsecure and us (family) and like we want a biopsy but the doc said its pretty unessary and they dont no what part to take off or something what is it !?!?!?!?

Lump behind teeth, mouth cancer? normal?

Probably just a cyst or swollen gland. I'd be really surprised if it was cancer. But your doctor will have final say...

Is a yellow roof of a mouth that itches like crazy a sign of cancer?

Hi, good question. You know I think it is human nature to think the worse and it is a trait that I see in myself together with my patients. An itchy roof of the mouth could mean that the top mucous covered layer of skin has been irritated by a process occuring within it.There are a number of different 1) Infective 2) Inflammatory and 3) Immune processes that can affect the mouth.Yellow roof of the mouth that itches could be all of those things but as I tell patients, common things occur commonly in nature.Infection: commonly fungal infections of the mouth can coat the tongue or roof of the mouth with a thin yellow/white/green film, which can be treated with a short course of anti-fungal tablets or drops.Inflammatory: If we are thinking an inflammatory process, this could be itchy, may weep and could be painful. These are things like lichen planus,Immune: These too rare and usually present as friable ulcers within the mouth. Also deficiencies in zinc or vitamin c (scurvy) can present within the mouth. Also drug reactions can present as ulcers within the mouthCancers: Oral cancers tend to be new growths that commonly are white or a discoloured patch within the mouth or lips. They may cause pain but usually not and can bleed easily. They usually wouldn’t usually take up the whole roof of your mouth, that sounds like an infection vs cancer. My advice:see you doctorlet someone examine your mouth and throat and feel your neckif they decide to take a biopsy, that will give you an idea BUT i’m sure that if the roof of your mouth is coated and yellow it is highly UNLIKELY to be cancer as cancer starts as a growth in ONE spot first.Hope that helps.Jonathan

I'm terrified of oral cancer, am I a hypochondriac? Please read?

So I'm 20 years old and from the age of about 15 I dabbled in smokeless tobacco as well as cigarettes and when I say dabbled I mean it, like it was rare. Once I turned 17 and got into vaping and I vaped for about 3 years then recently quit. Here's the problem now, I've developed a bad habit of biting my cheeks in my sleep, everything was that bad until one morning I woke up with swelling on the left side of my just with a really dark red scrap mark. It literally has swelling on both sides with a slit right down the middle. I went to my GP who said he thought it was thrush and prescribed me a mouth wash. A few days later I say my dentist who said the area and the surrounding tissue did not look suspicious at all. The swelling has not and will not go down and the scrap won't go away, its been a day but this scrap has been there about a week. Can anyone give me any advice? Since this has happened I have quit ALL tobacco products including vaping and cigars. Another note cancer does not run on either side of my family. What is going on??
