Afghanistan has famous passes through the the Hindu Kush mountains, which if you look it up in http://Britannica.com you'll find that the area is strategic for the high mountain water, as a buffer zone between Asia and as a trade route. The Mongols went through the Hindu Kush during their military campaigns as did Alexander. It's been long known that these mountain passes are key to stopping an invasion. It's long been known that trade goes through these areas.On the other side of the border is China.Afghanistan also has a large US illegal drugs growing areas where pot, opium etc are grown for distribution around the world.Before the US invaded Afghanistan, Russia fought Afghanistan for similar problems of aggression, terrorism, drugs etc. Then Russia went broke.Prior to Russia fighting wars in Afghanistan, the British and India attempted to control these passes.It's very nice that Afghanistan has resource wealth because it allows trade between a large number of countries which is hoped to improve the lives of the people and keep them from selling poison.
Why is America fighting a war in Afghanistan?
Afghanistan is a mineral rich country that has very strategic areas vital to a world domination. That being said if a country were to decide to financially control most every country, this spot reigns supreme.With the second largest oil reserve and borders that allow the easy access to refineries and ocean liners it would be well suited for an empire to send a few troops over to help unocal and bp get some easy profits by the means of poor and middle class kids manipulated into thinking Afghanistan was responsible for 19 Saudi Arabian citizens crashing a couple jet liners into buildings. Not only oil Afghanistan has the worlds largest to date deposits of lithium and that Iphone of yours wont run without it. So there. Oh and besides those nifty little items, you have Heroin yes Heroin. The CIA's cash cow for infiltrating countries and starting coups. You know that crap aint cheap. Besides with our troops protecting the poppy fields like they are, it makes it ours. It's our heroin to distribute and make sure more Americans get busted and increase prison population.
