Dog Ate A Piece Of Orbit Gum

My Maltese ate 1 piece of Orbit gum!?

My 7 lb Maltese ate 1 piece of orbit gum yesterday and I want to know if one piece will harm him a lot. He hasn't been to lethargic or anything but I think the gum has xylitol in it. Please tell me he's okay!

My dog ate a 5-10 pieces of orbit gum?

You do need to be concerned. Orbit is a sugar free gum that contains sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, mannitol & XYLITOL which can indeed kill dogs, by causing them to have a sudden drop in blood sugar & go into a coma. If you had any question about this, you should have called your vet or the ASPCA Poison Control number. Your dog ought to have been required to vomit or purge the gum, as soon as you realized the situation.

Orbit is a brand of sugar-free chewing gum manufactured by the Wrigley Co. The name "Orbit" is derived from the name of the sugar alcohol (sorbitol) that sweetens the gum.

Nutrition Facts
Orbit sugar-free chewing gum comes in a variety of flavors. The gum is calorie-free (all food products that provide less than five calories per serving are considered to be calorie-free) and contains no protein, fat and only 1 g of carbohydrate. The carbohydrate comes from sorbitol, which is the main sugar alcohol used to sweeten this gum. Sugar alcohols offer fewer calories per gram than carbohydrates, such as sugar. The gum contains less than 2 percent of other ingredients such as the sugar alcohols: mannitol and xylitol as well as the non-nutrative sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame K.

Haha. Yes, your dog will be fine. :)

My 25lb. dog ate one piece of sugar free chewing gum. Should I be worried?

Xylitol can be toxic, but in very high doses. They are even making some canine chews and dental washes with it now. As for the gum. It is deffinately small enough to pass. Don't stress, she will be fine

2 lb Yorkie ate Orbit white gum..?

I came home to find my 2lb Yorkie pup eating orbit white gum. I have no idea how he got it because I don't chew gum. I think one of my friends dropped it or left it behind. He seems fine though, he was running around when he saw me. I gave him food and he ate normally. Should I be worried?

My maltese ate 2 pieces of Orbit gum.?

Check the ingredients on the package for xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs, and is commonly found in "sugar free" gums. If it has xylitol, then take your dog to the vet asap!

If it doesn't have xylitol, then the dog should be just fine, follow the original instructions from your vet.

My little min pin ate a whole row of Orbit gum, will she be ok?

This is going to sound EXTREMELY funny, but I had a dog that did about the same thing except it was BubbleYum! LOL He was also a bigger dog... but he was fine except for the fact that at one point he actually had a BUBBLE coming out of his rear!! LMAO!! It had to be one of the FUNNIEST things I had EVER seen!! But it did pass through his system and he had a bit of a problem w/ diarrhea but it was all over about 2 days after the whole gum eating thing!

Good luck and just keep an eye on her... but Im pretty sure that she will be just fine! LOL

Is it OK if dogs eat gum?
