Dreams About Getting/being High

If you dream of getting high, does it affect your brain (see description)?

Don't assume that mind-body interactions are limited to dreaming. Body states contribute to thoughts and thoughts influence body states whether asleep or awake  (We can certainly make ourselves nervous,  angry or happy etc  if we focus on particular  thoughts) . Knowing that the body chemistry responds to our thoughts during the waking state (including to placebos), there is good reason to believe that it also responds to the imaginary scenarios of dreams. It is during Stage 4 sleep (very deep sleep) that night terrors most commonly occur. Those aflicted, will waken trembling, terrified and possibly even crying.  (so the dream content certainly gets into the woodwork of the emotional system) Methodologically speaking,  a study of moment by moment neurotransmitter release and relating it to dream content, is extremely expensive and difficult to conduct.  To require that the dream content  be specifically about getting high, renders this study totally impractical.  So the answer must be guessed. One low-tech way to study your question would be to  examine emotional states of people who have  just awoken  - to see if their moods are better than usual when the dream was good (as opposed to when it was not) and to measure how long the good mood lasts.  (A contaminating factor is that we typically have several dreams during the night and that many people forget even their most recent ones the moment they awaken) .  So one might wonder, if within the same night, all dreams were positive or negative.  Then one might hypothesize that the nature of the dream REFLECTS pre-existing brain chemistry as opposed to CAUSING it. Data from sleep labs suggests that dreams which occur during NonREM (NREM)sleep tend to be more positive  than those occurring during REM sleep.People awoken in NREM sleep  are more likely to  finish the word "DEA_" as "DEAR" whereas those awoken from REM sleep finish is as "DEAD"The biochemistries of REM and NREM sleep differ, so maybe these different chemistries  play a role in the differing dream content. We do know that people who take Stimulants (like Amphetamines) or sleeping pills (like Ambien)  have less REM while taking the drug.  When withdraw from  the drug, they have what's called  REM rebound, in which longer and very vivid dreans are experienced. So this is evidence that existing brain chemistry influences dream characteristics

Why do i keep having dreams about high school?

Quite simply, it's just nerves. The same thing happened to me the week before I started high school. Try calming yourself down by learning everything you can about your new school, trying to make contact with fellow students, or picking up a book from the library and studying something you're nervous about failing. Or, try to stop focusing on next year and enjoy your summer vacation!

Keep having dreams about last day of high school?

The last day of high school is a very emotional and in some cases traumatic change in a person's life; so it is hardly surprising that it can have a very strong impact on a person. I think that you are getting dreams because your subconscious is trying to help you to deal with the emotions that were caused by the event. Until you are at peace with the change, you subconscious will continue to try and help. I think that you need to set some time aside to think about that time and meditate on what happened then and since.

Dreaming about being stuck in high-up places?

I always have dreams where I am stuck somewhere high up..like a roof of a really tall building, or high up inside a big house/hotel/cruise ship/mall, just anywhere that's reallly really high up and the only way I can get down is by jumping down. And it's really scary because I have to jump down all that way, and it always feels really real. I've been having dreams like this very often in the past year. When I'm not dreaming about being stuck high up/falling, I dream about people breaking into my house. My dreams are really repetitive. What could this mean.

Why am I having dreams in which I am afraid of heights?

One interpretation of the dream about fear of heights is related to some kind of phobia in the dreamer’s life. Maybe you have fear to do something new in you life. It can be new relationship, new job or new activity. Sometimes we have dreams about being scared just because of very important events are coming in our waking life. Also, dreaming about having fear of heights can show the dreamer’s inability to make decisions and to act firmly in important situations.

Old dreambooks suggest that the dreamer is going to overcome his enemies and obstacles. Fear of heights is just like indicator that your goal in the life is coming closer. The bigger the fear is, the greater your success will be.

Why are so many of my dreams about high school and the people I knew there?

For me when themes keep coming back over and over in my dreams, it's either something I miss, or something I'm afraid of/irritated by. It sounds like your dreams about school are about regrets you have. The same thing had happened to me until I resolved it. "I didn't like school that much but I did have a few friends and a social circle, something that I don't have now."Therein lies your answer. The most likely explanation seems to be that you miss the social connections that you had in high school, and you wish you had something like that in your life now. That makes a lot of sense, if you think about it. School is such an easy place to make friends, and an easy place to keep them, when you see them every day. When you leave that environment it's hard to know where to meet people or how to hang onto them. If you find some good friends, or even just acknowledge to yourself that it's something you want, you should start dreaming about something else. It only comes up so much because it's buried in your subconscious. When you get it in the open it doesn't have to occupy your dreams.

Why do I keep dreaming about my high school locker combination?

Myself, if not most humans, also have dreams like that involving school and maybe forgetting or being unable to get supplies. This is especially the case with up-to-par people that ace the majority of their tests and would freak upon getting a failing grade or detention.

I think that maybe these repressed, stressful thoughts of, "What if I can't remember my locker combination?", "What if I left my textbook at home and didn't know it until it was too late?", or similar questions seem to stick to the memory as they would bring stress if they actually occurred. Perhaps a stressful situation has been brought up, or maybe you are just doing so well you are afraid your success will drop.

My dreams are typically of leaving my homework or books at my house and forgetting about them and not be able to have them when they are needed, but it is basically the same concept as far as I can tell.

Hope I helped.
