Engine Problems Any Ideas

Engine Problems? is the engine pooched?

98 Ford Contour 4cyl engine with 78000 miles

It was overdue got an oil change about 7500 miles on the oil and when i checked the dip stick it was at the low mark but had oil present. No sludge just dark color. Also about a month or two ago driving down a bumpy road the exhaust broke lose somewhere close to the catalytic converter

I was driving down the road accelerating at about 50mph and the car suddenly made a noise and then ran rough. It would cruise fine but once i tried to accelerate more at a higher rate it would start to run rough again almost like it wasn't running on all cylinders. I drove it about 2 miles home let it sit and added oil the next day. Checked and there's quite a bit of blow by but can't see any oil Or coolant leaking. Like i said about the exhaust it's hard to find where it's leaking but it appears to be Normal color.

When i start it, it's rough but after a few minutes it will idle pretty much normal. If you try to accelerate/shift it will run rough and want to stall.

If you have any ideas what the problem could be please share before i decide to scrap it or not

1978 z28 engine problem?

Hi, my 1978 Camaro Z28 ran out of oil on the highway. As a result, it has started making a fluttering sound (not a knocking sound) I know the engine has been damaged, however I'm not sure how much it will cost to get it fixed. It's a 350 bored over .30 (355). Any ideas on what's wrong and any ROUGH estimates on how much it will cost?
Also, I'm looking at getting a paint job.. any good estimates there? I realize it varies greatly depending on who does it.. I'm just looking for a rough estimate.

Scooter problem - cutting out any ideas?

There could be a multiple of reasons why it has trouble, but using a couple of assumptions (50cc engine, winter, engine cutting out when reving), I think its your fuel jet in your engine.

All gas engines in the world have something called a desired "air to fuel" ratio, in that the best combustion happens with a certain amount of air and a certain amount of fuel. Generally, the more air there is to fuel, the higher the combustion and more power. However, if you have too much air, it can overheat the engine and "seize" the engine. Too much fuel will cause the engine to bog down and can stop the engine from running since it can't combust well enough.

Most 50cc scooters have two-stroke carburated engines. Carburated engines deliver a certain amount of fuel to the engine, and it never changes. The amount of air that flows into your engine will change as temperature changes, since air becomes more dense in cooler weather (more air particles in a given area). And even where you are in terms of sea level will affect you engine, since higher altitudes has thinner air (less oxygen particles in a given area).

So since you're talking about winter, it is possible that you have too much air compared to fuel in your engine, and it is seizing your engine, which can cause irreparable damage. What you need to do is to open the scooter and get to the carburator and replace the fuel jet and replace it with a larger one to allow more fuel in. This will lower the air to fuel ratio and prevent seizing. You may need to try a few different jets to get the right one. One tip, is that it is better to be a little too rich (too much fuel), than it is to be lean (to much air), since the negative effects of the latter are worse.

How you would rejet your carb is fairly easy once the scooter is apart. You make need to get a new spark plug. Once you replace your fuel jet, start your scooter (you may have trouble at first, since the carb has been emptied of fuel when you removed it). Rev the engine until full throttle for a for about 10-15 seconds, and then cut the engine right off (kill switch or turning the key). Then check the spark plug. You should see a little line on top of the spark plug. Ideally, the line is right on top. The higher the jet, the lower the line will be. Since you may be seizing, I would suggest starting at a really high jet and moving down.

I need help on this physics problem ! I have no idea how to find thrust ?

A jet engine gets its thrust by taking in air, heating and compressing it, and then ejecting it at a high speed. If a particular engine takes in 20 kg of air per second at 100m/s, and ejects it at 500m/s, calculate the thrust of the engine.

I know the answer is 8000 N because the teacher posts them to check our work, but we have to Show work. Help anyone!!? Atleast tell me the equation or w.e

Engine problem on a daihatsu hijet?

tighten battery clamp.
check stater motor ,
check the cable that is connected from the positive of the battery to the stater motor.
are you sure you connected the battery in proper polarity ?
positive terminal goes to the stater motor
the negative terminal goes the engine block for grounding

Mitsubishi Pajero Turbo Diesel problem engine?

The Turbo system may be in fail-safe mode. that is there might be trouble in any sensors. Or the links of the flap in the turbo might got stuck. In any case you cant do any thing, get it to a mechanic.

Does my antique HONDA CB 125 have a serious engine problem, OR is this noise NORMAL to this particular eng.

Only 1000 miles, young engine, bought used, (possibly abused) by original owner. Engine seems to operate normally, but there is a strange "rattling - like" sound most noticeable at idle and lower rpms, which I think may be related to the timing chain or associated parts.

There is a tensioner adjustment screw which was (still is) set such that there is about 1/2 " threads showing above the lock nut.

Turning it clockwise, does not change the rattling much but it also makes an additional sound (more like a knocking sound)

Turning it ccw, seems to have little effect, perhaps a slight increase of the rattle. I carefully returned the screw to it's ORIGINAL position. I do not think anyone has ever made any adjustments to it.

I also have another similar vintage CB-100 which does not make this sound.

Is this sound NORMAL to the 125, or predicting DISASTER?

Does yours also rattle ? Please give advice on what to do if anything? A nice old bike, and I want to preserve.
