Exercise after work or before work?

Hi there! i have a preety hectic schedule in from mon-sat. i m working 10am till 7pm. and now i m getting a belly. i eat 4 slices of bread with omellete and a glass of juice while i drive to work. at work i have lunch around 1pm and then i get home at 8pm , after that i have a chat with my parents and have a glass of beer(everyday) and have dinner around 10pm n then off to sleep by 11-12pm. how can i improve on my health? and also i cant give up the glass of beer coz it relaxes me.

Exercise Before or After Dinner?

I don't know when you eat dinner vs. when you go to bed, but most people seem to eat between 6 and 8 PM, and go to bed between 10 and 12 PM (if they have a job or classes that require them to actually get up in the morning). So you can figure if you eat at 6:30, finish by 7:00, then exercise until about 8... since exercise pushes sleep by 4-6 hours (that is, it takes at least 4-6 hours after working out before your body is ready to sleep), that means you're looking at a midnight bedtime at the earliest, and you might not be actually asleep until 2 or 3 in the morning.

My advice is exercise before you eat, and early enough in the evening/late afternoon that it won't affect your sleep schedule. You won't burn and more or less calories by exercising after a meal, and exercising after a meal just isn't as good for your overall functioning as doing it before you eat.

Is it better to exercise before or after work?

It depends on your goals.If your goal is weight loss, before breakfast is best, as training in the fasted state improves glucose tolerance during fat-rich diet. Starting the day with exercise makes you think a lot harder about giving back all that hard work later in the day with a bad food choice. It also means you’ll have less time to talk yourself out of it.If your goal is fitness and body body building, then the best time is when you feel strongest. If you’re really training hard, evening may be better because it’s difficult to make it through the workday after you’ve worked your muscles to exhaustion.But there’s no reason to be binary about it. I work out in small sessions throughout the day. Morning yoga or pilates, alternating short cardio and weightlifting sessions every hour or so at work, an after dinner walk, then sets of pushups and crunches while I’m watching TV. It all adds up.

Should you eat before or after you workout?

I think it all comes down to what type of exercises are you doing? For example, if you are lifting weights, your body needs a certain boost of protein before and after, however, it is very important that you intake protein AFTER the work-out as your muscles need protein to strengthen. For example, before I lift weights, I'll eat a small power-bar that consists of 10 grams of protein, and when I finish I'll drink a protein-shake that will give me 50 grams of protein right away (whey protein) and then eat dinner about 30 minutes later.

However, if you are working out to loose weight, then you probably are doing cardio-type exercises, which means your body won't need that protein boost, so whether you eat before or after does not matter so much.

So, to answer your question, it all comes down to what type of program you are on, and whether or not you prefer to exercise after dinner or before.

Should you eat before or after a workout?

1) to start, you should have 5-7 smaller meals a day.

2) you should have a big, hearty breakfast (for example, 2 eggs, a protein shake, and a bowl of healthy cereal with organic whole milk). THAT will help partly solve the hunger problem- and will help u lose weight too!

3) you should eat a normal sized meal 2 hours before, and you can have a small healthy snack (like a powerbar or naturevalley bar) an hour before.

4) if you somehow miss your meal and/or snack, this is easy to remedy- simply buy a gatorade (NEVER buy light or low-sugar, get the regular kind) and drink some, then slowly drink it thru ur workout. This should kill the hunger pangs cuz it has calories and sugar and electrolytes... and since its gatorade, it doesnt cause cramps hardly ever. dont ask me why- its magic!

5) The BEST thing to have 2 hours before is a normal sized meal and a protein shake!

LASTLY, ALWAYSSS EAT AFTER A WORKOUT! (eat about 20-25 minutes after)

Drink a protein shake, eat a powerbar, and have some other healthy food if you're still hungry. Protein shakes are most important!

You could eat b4 a workout. If so eat a slow digesting carb like an apple. Your post-workout meal is very important. After you workout your body is screaming it needs sustainance. Have a protein shake after your workout. Its ideal after a workout because its a fast digesting protein. Also about 30-45 mins later eat a simple carb. Simple carbs or fast digesting carbs are pancakes, white bread, white rice, cookies, gatorade. Thats the only time its acceptable to ingest simple carbs(well at least it is for me), but treat yourself sometime though. Now some people think eating simple carbs is beneficial after a workout and some don't.
Your PWO meal is important because after you workout your body is looking to replenish energy it expended during your workout. Your body isn't going to extract energy from fat, but from you muscles. It will begin to break down your muscles to get glyocogen from them. This anabolic effect is not good considering that your trying to gain muscle and not lose it. So yea...you can eat b4 and definetly after.

Should I workout before homework or after?

Whatever that suits your schedule and your timings duh. I mean, you control your life and your daily routine, not your daily routines and life control you! Do what suits you best.

I do after since the gym closes at 10pm and I'm back home by 6pm. Plus I gotta eat and shower first and clean up so yeah. Then I get back, eat, homework, sleep. Worst part is mine is done online and all, so I have to submit it before midnight. No later, unless with valid reasons of course. So yeah. But yes 24 hours a day is tooooo little.

Should you do yoga before or after a workout?

Depends on what the objectives of your training are.If your goal in training is to get better at yoga first and foremost, then I might put it first.Then you might want to consider the type. Certain styles/approaches are more intense than others. More intense forms of yoga are obviously more taxing, and thus more likely to interfere with other forms of training.However, given a generalized style of yoga and the fact that it will generally be lower intensity, more flexibility focused and more parasympathetically stimulating (relaxation part of the nervous system), you're probably better off most of the time putting it at the end of a workout.Otherwise it impedes resistance training performance and conditioning performance. That being said, I use many low intensity movements that are similar to those found in yoga for 5-10 minutes as a warm up in many cases, specifically for resistance training but you could do the same for cardiorespiratory energy system training as well. Many of the movements found in yoga are low enough intensity so as to warm the tissues of the body up (provided they are not done in excess) without producing a great deal of performance zapping fatigue.
