Florida Virtual School Question

Easy FLVS (Florida Virtual School) Question!?

Basically, all I'm supposed to do is take English in FLVS for semester 1. (.05 Credit)
It shows that I have 2 segments, but I only have to take 1 semester for that half credit....
Is segment 1 for semester 1, and segment 2 for semester 2? Or is segment 1 AND segment 2 for semester 1?

FLVS Florida virtual school questions?

Hi there!

1. This means that you can sign up for 6 courses at a time. Most of our course courses (not electives) are split into 2 segments (like a semester), and you will only be active in one segment at a time. So, for example, you would sign up for segment 1 of 6 different courses, and ideally finish by winter break (or halfway through your year, however that is set up) and then begin on segment 2.

2. If you are dropping out of traditional school, it is always recommended that you speak with your guidance counselor first, but if you are a Florida public school student, you have the right to choose FLVS as your education of choice.

3. As long as you remain a resident of the state of Florida, FLVS courses will be available to you at no cost. If you move outside of the state, you will be dropped from your courses.

Hope that helps! Feel free to reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter if you need help in the future!

Florida virtual school questions?

Alright, so I'm in eighth grade and my school starts at 7:30 and I honestly can not deal with this, I've been missing so much school lately and I haven't been wanting to go. It's not that I hate school, it's just I can't deal with the early mornings. I've been asking my mom to let me go to flvs for a while now, and she finally has agreed to letting me. I'm a straight 'A' student, and I'm in all honors/advanced classes. But the only problem is that I'm extremely social and loud. I like to be around people, but I work better independently because when I work with anyone I talk way to much and get absolutely none of my work done. Would flvs be a good choice for me? Also, would it take away my social life? I'm worried I'll become one of those people who spend their whole day locked up in a room. I really want to know if I should do this, or if I should just rough it out until the end of the year? I'm scared I haven't been learning anything these days and haven't showed that much enthusiasm for school and I'm going to end up failing because I feel like I just don't care anymore because I've been so tired. Please, give any personal experience's or recommendations.

Florida Virtual School?

Yes, you can but I think you have to pay. Why don’t you check out the site they have all that info on there or call them? Advantages= You can work when ever you want were ever you are and you have people to help you 8 am to 8 pm. Disadvantage: for some people it hard because its not the same as having a teacher explaining things to you face to face it works fine for me though.(Flvs.net)

If I cheated on Florida Virtual School...?

Lets say I cheated in a class on FLVS, what are the consequences? Is it possible for me to stay in the class, or retake it? If I was caught within the first 28 days, can I still just cancel the course and get no grade? This is all hypothetical of course.

How does the flvs Florida virtual school work?

If you're doing flvs and still in school you're shook counselor has to sign you up , if you're home schooled you have to get signed out of day school, once you do that you'll have to go to a homeschooling center, there they'll give you a sheet authorizing you to be able to sign up to flvs, you'll fax the sheet to them and you'll start a little afterwards. Once you're home schooled your parent will pick your classes they will play the role of a counselor .

I have been doing flvs for 4 months now, and I think it's okay. All you have to do is turn in 3 assignments for each course every week and you'll finish the class in 32 weeks ( if its a full credit) but you could finish a course in a month and a half if you set your mind to it. You have assignments an exams, and dba's which are discussion based assessments, you will contact your instructor and go over what you learned in the module you did. (Think of a module as a chapter) there are two segments in each course, in each segment you'll either have 3 or 4 modules , and once you're done with each segment you will complete a final exam. ( think of it as a midterm ) the good thing is, if you turn in an exam or assignment and you got a grade youre not content with, you can re do it to get a better grade . There are also ollaboration assignments in each segment which you get to do in groups. You'll also do monthly calls, once a month and instructor will call you and your parents to touch bases on how your doing and your grades

It's easy and you can get a lot of work done if you put your mind too, it's free as well for Florida residents.

YOU will have to know how to speak English, to read the passages and talk to your instructors . Your parents dont, my parents are both German so they can't really speak to my teachers but you can always do monthly calls through emails or you can translate for them.

Overall it would be a great experience , if you don't like it you can always go back to day school.

Hope this helped :)

Multiple Questions about Florida Virtual School?

I attend a public school in Georgia, but I want to take AP classes off of Florida Virtual School for credit.

- Could I take AP classes over the summer and have the grade sent to my public school here in Georgia from Florida and have it on my transcript as I took that class?

- Although I live in Georgia, my family owns property in Florida, so would I be able to take classes for free as Florida Virtual School allows Florida residents to take the class for free?

- If I take a class online during the school year, how much work would it be, hour wise per week?

- Would I be able to take the AP exam in May if I took it online?

- Basically, my main concern is if I can take AP classes during the summer and during the school year and have them send the grade to my school to be placed on my transcript.

I am curious, because my school does not offer these AP classes that I would like to take for my intended major in college. Thanks in advance.
