Found A Hurt Bird Part 2

Can this hurt my bird?

The answers given here have been good, as far as they go.
Incense gets its scent from essential oils. Some essential oils are OK for birds, but some are absolutely deadly! It depends upon the type.
This is the same reason why some room air fresheners or scented candles can kill your bird.
For my money, it isn't worth the risk.

good luck.

I have found a hurt bird, what do I do?

Go to a near by animal shelter or even a pet store, to start with close the lights, and make no noise at all (it will calm the bird down), you might want to get a large bandage to stop the bleeding, give a many types of treats such as earth worms, rice or fruits(try apples),give it water, and find something to warm to bird (towel?). MAKE SURE U GET AN EXPERIENCED HELPER AFTER!

What do I do if I found a hurt bird and I don’t know what is wrong? I found a bird outside my house and it was standing like its legs were broken with its mouth open. It could close its mouth and fly short distances.

Contact your local Game Wardens (Department of Fish and Wildlife) for the state that you live in. They will either tell you what can be done or come and get the bird and get it to a rehabilitator so it can be nursed back to health and hopefully released back into the wild. Sometimes the birds recover on their own in a short amount of time but if you watch them for over 1/2 hour and they still seem stunned then call the Wardens.

I found an injured baby bird. What do I feed it?

I’m sorry but I have to totally disagree with Nicole Speed. She is 100% wrong. Every licensed wild bird rehabber feeds non-raptor baby birds dry dog food that has been soaked in water until it is rather like a sponge. Every single one. Dry dog food is the go-to rehabber food for baby birds, if they are not hawks, owls, or falcons of some sort. I’ve raised dozens and dozens of baby birds on dry dog food and so has every single other rehabber I have ever had contact with. I do use dry cat food for a crow, blue jay, or other bird that eats a lot of insects because it has a higher protein content. In other words you are doing the right thing. The only thing I would suggest that you do differently is feed the little spud using a tweezers with blunted ends, not chopsticks. If he is pooping a lot, you are doing very well. That means he’s eating well. You should definitely try and find an actual wild bird rehabber. If you live in the US, there are three places you can call to ask about local rehabbers.Veterinarians. Most of them have a list of the local rehabbers, even if they don’t do wild animals themselves. The State Fish and Game or Fish and Wildlife or Wildlife Conservation department. They keep a list of rehabbers, because rehabbers have to be licensed. You’ll find them listed in the phone book under State Offices, or search for “Fish and Wildlife YourState,” go to the website and look for the list of Game Wardens and call the one for your county.County Sheriff. Most County Sheriff departments have a list of wildlife rehabbers in the county. Use the “non-emergency” number. You may also find wildlife rehabbers by doing a search on “Wildlife Rehabilitator, YourCity” or “YourCounty.” These days many rehabbers have websites. If you are outside the US, the laws differ. You might still find a rehabber by calling vets, the equivalent of the State Fish and Game Department, or local police, or doing a web search.

Can dog saliva hurt my bird?

A dog or cat bite or scratch is considered a medical emergency and medical treatment should be started ASAP. It's best if you keep your birds and dogs apart . If your dogs are very well behaved and obedient you might be able to relax a bit but it's really best to very closely supervise or keep them apart. All it takes is one playful slap or bite and you're looking at a possible $400 vet bill. Been there ,. done that

You're just seeing the good videos. No one has has a camera handy when a bird dog is chomping on a bird. I got to admit I had two older cats that that ignored my birds but my heart stopped when my pionus got out of my birdroom and landed between the two of them.

Does it hurt when birds bite you?

What I mean is does it hurt when a sun conure bites? What does it look like? Tell me about their beak and bite please. I am getting one and am very curious to know about them. Thanks.

I found this bird in my balcony. What should I do to save her?

She is a baby bird . Most probably a pigeon, I may be wrong as I am not an ornithologist.First thing you can do is search for the nest nearby, her being a small bird would not have moved much distance away from the nest. Probable locations could be spots like AC, vents , trees, and something similar near your floor, or even a floor above. If found, just gently put the bird there with some semi solid food and water. If not found, you may have to feed and nurture her till she grows up. If you do not have supporting conditions for that, you can find a nearby animal/bird shelter and get her adopted there.

What would you do if you found an injured bird while returning from your school?

The best thing to do if you find an injured bird, or other injured animal, is to call a local rehabilitation center (such as aark.org). If the bird is in immediate danger (such as on a road), you could try to gently coax or move it. If you must move it, you can try covering it gently with a sheet, pillow case or thin towel, then gently lift it. Otherwise, leave it alone and wait for instruction from your rehabilitators.

I found a baby bird IN MY HOUSE what do I do with it?!?!!?

It's young, but not like a newborn, what you would call a fledgling. I found it this morning because my 2 cats were swatting at it. The bird doesn't look injured in anyway, but it does seem to be breathing heavily (maybe it's just scared or cold?) I looked outside and I don't see any angry parent birds or any nests. I don't know what to do. I don't want to just let it outside for it to die. Right now I have it in a box with a towel in it. Someone help!
