Describe your apartment.....in French language...?
J'habite un appartement au premier etage d'un batiment de plus de cent ans. Ily a huit pieces en tout. Il ya quatre chambres, un bureau, un salon et une cuisine et la salle des bains. La wc est au bout du couloir. L'appartement est spacieux et tres agreable a vivre. Il n'y a pas d'ascenseur dans le batiment. Les carrelages au sols sont anciens et de dominance bleu. Dans le couloir il y a un parquet qui est tres beau. Les plafonds sont tres hauts, presque trois metres. Chaque piece as deux hauts fenetres. La lumiere inonde l'appartement, surtout par une journee de soleil. Il y a une grande terrasse sur l'arriere de l'appartement. C'est un endroit tres plaisant pour prendre le petit dejeuner ou de siroter un verre de vin le soir. Les portes de l'appartement sont tous anciens et sont en bois naturel. Les poignees des portes sont aussi anciens et sont en cuivre. Les meubles sont une melange de moderne et de l'ancien. C'est une style qui se marie bien avec l'endroit. voila! When to use Dont over Qui and Que (French Grammar)?
I understand the difference between qui & que, and I know when to use each. But I dont get when I should use Dont. I know it means "of which/whose" and so on, but when we do exercises in class, I've sometimes used "qui" and my teacher tells me the correct answer is dont - which confuses me. She doesn't explain the difference well. Any tips? I've an exam on this next week. x(
How to do jumbled sentences in french?
Basically you have to put back the words in the correct order within the sentence. You need a subject : a name (Marie) or a pronoun (Il/elle, etc..) a verb and a direct or indirect object/ or an adjective You also have to put your verb between negatives when they are there such as : ne....pas So, here are a few examples: "aime chocolat Marie le " has to be rewritten as "Marie aime le chocolat"( Marie likes chocolate) "table la livre sur est le ": "Le livre est sur la table" (The book is on the table) "jolie pas n' Aline est": Aline n'est pas jolie" (Aline is not pretty) "ne Jean pas comprend " : Jean ne comprend pas"(Jean does not understand) "noir est mon blanc et chat ": Mon chat est noir et blanc" (My cat is black and white) "ville autobus en vais je en" : "Je vais en ville en autobus"( I go to town by bus) Good Luck!
Can someone explain the subjunctive tense in french ?
I'm really having a hard time understand the subjunctive tense. J'aie and J'ai . I know there is no difference between I have and I have in english (besides possession and action) but obviously there is another in french and im not seeming to understand it. Can you give me common sentences using J'aie in french ? and possibly explain the subjunctive.
