I agree with your idea. A basket with little, not very expensive, fun things is a great idea. Some cute little todler outfits are always nice. You can also put in little dolls, toy phones, plastic keys.. anything pink. Something that is not very loud or annoying so your sister won't be annoyed, but still very fun. Also, go to a baby store, Babies R Us, something else like that, and ask what is a good idea for a 1 year old girl. The employees wll help you out. When I was little, I remember I loved pretend food. Something where she can be creative, such as crayons or constuction paper or colored pencils.

Obviously it depends on who the people are but here are some of mine.For my wife, as this Christmas is very important for us, I have brought her one of these wonderful Pendants that I am actually quite excited to give her! It is similar to one her Mother had so I am sure she will be thrilled. They do Earrings too which I looked at but just for the sentimental value of her Mother I opted for the necklace!For my own Mother, I went for a hamper. I searched around for quite a while before I decided to make one myself. This was a bit extra but worth it as now I am confident she won't be able to complain about anything in there!Marks & Spencers do a huge range of them that are very well priced Hampers : Flowers & Plants : Flowers & Gifts : Marks & SpencerMy wife and I are still working on the childrens', but there is, again, some very nice jewellery for my daughter that my wife picked up from a vintage shop and the rest is yet to be confirmed!I hope this gives you some ideas.Jeff

What one toy has your child played with the very most?
All five of my children are grown. My youngest is twenty-two. My oldest is thirty-three. It has been a while since my guys were young enough to play with toys if video games are not counted. (I had only boys, five of them.)There was not one specific toy, per se, that my boys played with, but there was one kind that all of them played with more than any other kind of toy.And that kind was……ACTION FIGURESThey had G.I.Joes, Batmen, Spidermen, and others along those lines.They took them into bed at night and naptime, sat with each other making up stories, sat alone making their own story complete with sound effects. They took them outside and played at the playground with them. Which could mean you bought it from someone...Local: There are probably lots of local crafty people that would love to make you a personalized baby gift to suit the color scheme of the baby room or even have the name of the baby (if it's known, of course). There are often crafters markets that you can visit to find local gifts. Especially around Christmas time.Organic or natural materials: We know that plastics and chemicals can hurt a baby's health and maybe expose them to toxins.
