Geometry Homework Has Me In Tears Acan Someone Help

I'm failing Freshman Honors Geometry. HELP!?

I hate to break it to you, but if your grade is that bad you should have switched a long time ago.Even more importantly you should have realized that the math teacher you had last year was too easy and talked to a counselor about being put in the correct math class a long time ago.Take responsibility people.Get off the computer, stay off the computer and open the book.If your not going to take the responsibility to make sure you are in the right class, you should atleast take responsibility for how you spend your time.

Homework help? (10 points)?

I have answered all your question but i wish to say something to you.

I am stressing because I want a good grade. Never stress at so young age. Stress is for older people :)

I am already failing Geometry and I am trying to get my grade up. :- Just try to work hard and spend more time understanding the concepts of solving the question.

I am so stressed, I am in tears. :- Crying never helps and again the stress is not for us ts meant for older people :) :).

Marks: 5
Given A(3, 4), B(4, 5), and C(3, 5), the length of AB + BC + AC is greater than:
Choose one answer.
a. 6
b. 5
c. 4
d. 3

soln AB =root(2) BC = 1 AC = 1

AB+BC+CA = root(2) +1 +1 > 3.4

Answer is d

(use of common sense if its a single choice answer is d are more than one is correct)

Marks: 5
What is the equation of the line which is parallel to the graph of y = −4x + 7 and which passes through the point (0, 3)?

Choose one answer.
a. y = −4x + 3
b. y = 4x − 3
c. y = 5x − 11
d. y = 2x − 3

Line is parallel to y = −4x + 7 means slope of line is same i.e -4

so we take line to be y= -4x +c and now put point 0,3 to it
3=c
so equation of line is y= -4x +3

Answer a)

Given A(6, −17), B(−6, 17), C(4, 9), and D(−4, 4), the midpoint of which segment is at the origin?
Choose one answer.
a. AB
b. BC
c. CD
d. AD

mid point x,y is

x = (x1+x2)/2
y = (y1+y2)/2

For a line AB (x1,y1) are co-ordinates of A and (x2.y2) are co-ordinates of B.
Check for each segment

Answer is a

Find the equation of the line passing through the points A(3, −3) and B(−4, 11)?
Choose one answer.
a. y = −6x + 3
b. y = −2x + 3
c. y = 9x −3
d. y = 4x − 9

Equation is

y-(-3) = (11+3)/(-4 -3) (x- 3)
=> y+3 = -14(x-3)/7
=> y+ 3 = -2x +6
=> y = -2x +3

Answer is B

Marks: 5
Which pair of points are on the graph of y = −3x −11?
Choose one answer.
a. (2, 7) and (−1, 4)
b. (3, −20) and (−4, 1)
c. (6, 8) and (9, 3)
d. (4, −1) and (−5, −2)

Put point on line and check if they satisfy them

Answer is b. (3, −20) and (−4, 1)

My teacher is throwing my homework away?

I swear that my geometry teacher is throwing my homework away. My grade is at a 7% in that class when I've been doing all of my homework (she doesn't actually correct it, she just sees that we have it done). I looked at my progress report online and it says that I'm missing all but two assignments, the rest are zeroes.

I have no way to prove it though, nobody sees me do it, I just do it in study hall and the teacher hardly cares. I do it in my room my parents think I'm playing video games.

I asked her and she said she never saw them. That's complete BS. What should I do?

My daughter has an IQ of 173, yet she dislikes doing homework and studying but likes tests and projects. She usually doesn't complete her assignments but she's completely capable (she's in the seventh grade). Why?

It’s drudgery to her, not an intellectual challenge. When my geometry teacher saw that I made 100 on nearly every test, or more with extra credit, but sometimes didn’t get homework done on time due to working two jobs and being president of two clubs, he told me that I could skip the homework so long as I kept making 100’s.That was a wise choice. You have to think about the purpose of homework. If it’s not needed, don’t require it.While it’s unlikely that she can get a pass on all her homework in school, talk to an academic specialist at your school about the situation and see if she can get a temporary pass on certain homework “to have time to devote to more challenging projects.”If that doesn’t work, look at other educational options such as a private school, possibly with a scholarship, or homeschooling. Homeschooling a very bright child is in some ways easy and some ways not because they can easily do the work, but you have to keep exposing them to more and more opportunities for learning. I did it for several years, and it was the right choice for my “rarely gifted” child. But, I had to give up a lucrative career and do things like tutoring, taking contract writing projects, and living very lean, sometimes at the edge of homelessness.If you have two adults in the family, consider making some lifestyle changes to give you the freedom to either homeschool or give her a hybrid education to meet her actual needs rather than “schooling her,” meaning she would be expected to learn the same things at the same time as other students her age.She may be able to enter college early, but she won’t be the age of other college students, and that can be a risky decision for several reasons. If you can swing homeschooling heavily enriched by community college courses, private educational mentoring, and self-study within a rich educational environment (lots of time in the community exploring nature, the arts, science, music, and literature), you should consider that. It’s a shame to hold a child back based on her age.I share all this both as a student who was accelerated in school but never challenged and as a person who raised a very unusually gifted child. I’m also a professional educator and have a private educational services business. So, I have been exposed to a wide range of students of nearly all ages and abilities.

How can I bring my geometry grade up!?

The daughter of one of my friends did this:
1) She sat silently until her mother asked her what was wrong
2) The daughter said, "Oh, Ma! I have something terrible to tell you!"
3) Then she burst into tears.

Her mother was so alarmed that when she finally learned it was only about grades in school, she was practically grateful. She pretended to be crabby, but the power had all leaked out of it.

Remember this:
1) Let your parents say whatever they want, as many times as they want.
2) Don't argue or get defensive. Just accept whatever they say as "something you deserve."
3) Part of the reason they scold you is to make sure that you end up with the right attitude about all this. So show that you already have the right attitude. Say how bad you feel about the situation, how ashamed you are.
4) Be sure to keep the conversation on target by constantly referring to the kind of help you need -- tutoring, talking to the teacher, whatever.
5) Eventually this will all blow over, and on the day you leave home to go to college, you won't even remember this.

Best wishes in your studies.

The Trail of Tears was a stain on United States history?

True.

But it is only one of many:
Japanese American incarceration during WW2
Slavery / Jim Crow / Ongoing racism against blacks
Chinese exclusion
Denial of citizenship to Japanese immigrants
Taking Indian lands by force (i.e not only from the Cherokees)
Taking lands from Mexico by force (California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, etc)
Making war on Iraq under false pretenses
Making interracial marriage illegal

How to survive Geometry class?

Well I guess you have a few options.

First of all, start at your teacher. They get paid to help you, so that is what they should do. If that fails (as some teachers can't or won't explain things) talk to one of your peers. Even though they are older, if you can find one of them who gets it, and is willing to spend a little time in class it would help. Typically talking to your classmates works better as they are learning it when you are.

If neither of those fails, you should look into school services. For instance guidance, student success or a 'homework' club. Those can help set you on the right track.

Assuming your school (or yourself) is not open to such programs, your last step may be to find a tutor. If I were to have a tutor, I would not enjoy it being someone my age, but also not an adult. Either way, find someone you are comfortable with, and who can help you.

Continue to attempt it all, and it may just 'click!' Otherwise, find help. It is not too late yet, and it is the best thing to do. Everyone needs help at something!

I hope this helped.
