Getting Paid My Weekly Check Twice

If you get paid biweekly, are you supposed to tithe twice an month?

twice a month would be bimonthly. bi = two monthly = measurement of time. yet everyone seems to say it the opposite way. i don't get it.

usually that means getting paid twice weekly. in any case, the best bet is to give God your first fruits of every pay check (to ensure you're not giving Him your crumbs). But if your objective is to give a maximum set amount like 10% then it's completely unnecessary to do so, you were always intending to give God your crumbs.

Getting paid 'biweekly'?

You need to ask whoever does payroll where they are on their pay-cycle. Every company has a different schedule, so they would be the only authority to answer this question.

The two scenarios are:

1. If you started in the first week of the cycle, then you will have worked last week and this week, and will get paid on whatever pay date follows after the pay period ends. In other words, 3 weeks from the beginning of the pay-cycle. Or,

2. If you started in the second week of the cycle, you will get paid your first check for any hours worked from the time you started to the end of that week (Essentially a partial check) on the pay date following the pay period. Once you get this check, then you will be paid bi-weekly for two weeks of work.

If i get paid bi-weekly how many pay checks a year do I get?

Well that would be a gross income of about $1180 every two weeks. Normally you would take off 30% for taxes but if you declare a lot of dependents you can get that to about 25% so I would guesstimate a take home of $885

Getting paid weekly vs. biweekly?

You might want to ask payroll dept how come it jumped from 15% to 21%. It shouldn't change if your company went from weekly pay to bi-weekly pay. You are getting paid twice as much per paycheck as you were getting before, but that's because you're getting paid half as often as you were before. You should still be getting the same net pay in your bi-weekly paycheck as you were with adding two weekly paychecks together. Either something changed with your payroll dept, your math is not correct, or they are not doing something correctly. No, you aren't making more money if you were paid weekly, you still get the same amount of gross pay over the course of a year. As far as taxes go, federal withholding is based on income level, and what you had put down on W-4 form, social security is 6.2% of gross paycheck, medicare is 1.45% of gross paycheck, and state is based on state version of W-4.

How does getting payed weekly work?

If you're working at RR it's pretty likely that you're paid hourly unless you're the manager, then you might be salaried. Not sure what you're asking. You'd get paid depending on the hours you worked the week you're being paid for. There would usually be a delay from the end of the pay week to payday to give them time to calculate your paycheck and prepare them. If you get tips, you should be reporting ALL of your tips every day, and they should be taking out tax from your paycheck on your hourly pay and your tips.

How much a biweekly paycheck be for someone earning 45k year after tax in nyc bronx with no kids or dependants

When you claim one on you form the government takes out LESS taxes. A lot of people do that, but then they have to pay in at the end of the year. I always claim 0. They take out more during the year, but you get alot back. I know a couple of people who are on monthly payments with the IRS for owing taxes. As far as pay, you are looking at about 1250-1300. (According to my friend, there is no way I make that much ;-( )

How do bi-weekly paychecks work?

If you're getting paid bi-weekly, you'll receive a paycheck every two weeks with a combined total of the hours for the first two weeks of the pay period (typically 80 hours for full time employees) and a combined total of the following two weeks in a pay period. This should not be confused however, with semi-monthly pay periods as this is slightly different in the way it is calculated and distributed. If an employer pays semi-monthly, the employee will get two checks that month regardless of how many weeks worked in a given month. So, if you get paid on the 15th and the 30th and the month has five weeks, you'll still only receive two paychecks, whereas the bi-weekly structure will give you two paychecks based on four weeks, with the fifth week of a month being paid with the first week of the next month. Or every two weeks. Keep in mind with the bi-weekly pay period that applying for loans or calculating income, it will be calculated at 4.33 because of the possibility of a fifth week in a given month. Therefore, bi-weekly paychecks are calculated at 4 weeks, and accommodating the extra week.

Is it true that if you are paid bi-weekly you actually have more taxes deducted from your paycheck? If it is,?

It doesn't matter how much they withhold--- if you file your taxes, the actual tax responsibility/liability is going to be the same. Tax responsibility is how much tax you owe and that's calculated on your annual salary no matter how often you get paid. So if your tax liability is for example $5000/year, and you get 26 bi-weekly paychecks with $200 in taxes withheld in each one, you pay $5200 by the end of the year and you get a $200 refund. If you get 24 semi-monthly paychecks, though, you've only paid $4800 by the end of the year and now you OWE $200.

If you have the right number of withholding allowances, though, the variance in taxes withheld over the course of a year shouldn't be very much in the first place. So your refund (or tax bill) is $16 more on bi-weekly checks than semi-monthly. It's not that big a deal, especially since everything gets evened out at tax time.

Will I get half a bi-weekly paycheck if I start a job one week into the cycle if I'm salary based?

This is a question that may be regionally sensitive. In general, you should research this with your locality's wage and salary law.You may or may not get a 1 week check. The employer must pay you within 2 weeks or every bimonthly (twice a month). Secondly, some employers may also give you a paper check for the first pay check because of the ramp up time to get you on direct deposit. Please remember that what I write here is not medical, legal or financial advice.
