Giving My I Think 4 Month Old Kitten Tape Worm Meds

My kitten has tapeworm, but no fleas?

I first discovered that my 6 month old kitten had tapeworm about a month and a half ago. He did have fleas at the time, so after we took him to be dewormed we completely rid the house of fleas, gave him a flea bath, and treated him with advantage multi. I have not seen a single flea sense so I thought the problem was solved. Well I found another segment of a tapeworm on him a few days ago. I took him to be dewormed again yesterday and the vet technician said he has to have fleas in order to have tape worm, but I have not seen a single flea on him or in the house for over a month. He is pure white so it's very easy to find fleas on him, and there hasn't been a trace of fleas or flea dirt on him for some time.

The only thing I can think of is that he likes to groom our pug, and maybe she has fleas that we can't see? She was also treated for fleas at the same time as our kitten, and if the dog did have fleas, wouldn't they jump on the cat? I'm confused because I'm almost positive that our house is flea free, so how could the kitten have tape worm? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

How do i know that the tapeworm is gone from my kitten?

I discovered that my cat had tapeworm after looking at his stool and noticing the segments. I had given him a medicine for the tapeworm. And now i dont know if it is completely gone. It has only been one dose and i dont know how long it should take to kick in. I also noticed a longer segment of the worm hanging out of his butt, and i want to know if that is all of it so i can stop giving him the medicine.

Why is my month old Kitten is throwing up and have diarrhea?

What should you do? Take it to the vet! However when I adopted two 5 week old kittens there pooped looked like diarrhea but it wasn't it was just kitten poop but with the vomiting a vet trip IS necessary and I'm really tired of everyone saying they can't afford a trip to the vet, that is a necessity you need to be able to afford to have a cat! Hope your cat gets better soon!
EDIT: People just because this person doesn't have the mom cat doesn't mean he took the kitten away from it's mom, things happen!
EDIT: Your kitten should NOT have flea medication that is what's making him sick and along with the milk that is probably causing a lot of harm to him, you not knowing these things is a sign you shouldn't have a cat!

De-worming medicine for 3 week old kittens?

Nothing you can buy over the counter. You need to get them in to the vet, who can accurately weigh them and give them a safe dewormer based on they type of worms they have. If it's tapeworm, then there is nothing - even vet prescribed - that can be given to kittens so young. Mom needs to be wormed as well - also by the vet - so that the nursing kittens aren't poisoned. If anyone on here suggests something to give them, then do NOT listen as you're likely to kill the kittens along with the worms.

Is it cruel to keep my kitten confined to two rooms for a few months? Please advise.?

My kitten is 12 weeks old. I found out a fortnight ago he has fleas and DO NOT want to use a flea bomb. He was treated with spot on stuff two weeks ago, however this morning I found traces of tapeworm segments in my bed. Have since washed him and found another flea, so they persisted through my washing and vacuuming of everything.

Have taken kitten to the vet and his advice was:
1. Treat every four weeks with the spot on.
2. Wash and vacuum all the surfaces he touches weekly.
3. And give him all the de-worming medication etc.

He said that if I follow this, the flea problem should sort itself out in a few months.

I'm really thinking though that if I have to wash and clean EVERYTHING in the apartment for three months, every week, really it's a lot.

Would it be okay then, that I keep my kitten within my bedroom and bathroom area (he spends most of his time here anyway) until I know for sure the flea problem is gone (i.e. three months)? He has a lot of toys, a bed, his litter box, a seat at the window, boxes to climb on, a scratching post, and fresh food and water within these spaces already.

Would welcome any advice or wisdom on the matter, as all I want is for him to be happy and healthy.

How do I tell when my cat's tapeworm is gone?

We noticed a few days ago that my 4-month old kitten had the tell-tale signs of tapeworm fragments in his feces so we gave him a dewormer from our vet yesterday. Today he expelled a VERY large continuous piece of tapeworm - is this the worm itself, meaning it has been expelled? I know the medication is supposed to kill it and it will be digested and defecated unnoticably, but given that this was a really long piece (although it was still moving) does that mean that maybe the medication just detached it and it was defecated whole?

I feel bad for the little guy, he was born in a terrible environment and has been on and off antibiotics since he was found to combat nasal infections and they have probably made him less resistant to other things. I'm hoping he'll be medication free soon and can live a normal kitty life. :(

8 month old kitten eating A LOT but not gaining any weight?

My kitten ate a lot and never gained any weight. It turned out she had tapeworm. I don't think normal dewormers take care of tapeworm, but take care of like, hookworm, roundworm, etc. I don't know anything about pregnancy in cats, I have never had a pregnant cat. Keep an eye around her backside area. If she does have tapeworm, you will see stuff that looks like rice in her fur. If that is the case, give the vet a call. I did not have to take my cat in, I just went and picked up a pill. Usually an injested flea is the cause of the tapeworm, and it can't be passed from one cat to another.

What are the symptoms that my 4-month-old puppy may have worms?

This is a good question.Lets begin with what we know about how puppies get them in the first place.Puppies drink mommy’s milk.Mom may have worms and while pregnant may pass them off to her offspring. The puppies may pick them up later from licking the environment (often because they are looking for the mammary gland on mamaz)When the puppy gets older the worms do too.A puppy can have worms already when born.As the puppy gets older the worms grow too.I’m sure that there are other crazy ways on how puppies end up with worms but we are going to get to the point here. Just know that puppies are almost guaranteed to be born with them.So what are the symptoms?Puppy eats an appropriate amount of food but doesn’t gain weight.Guess why? Worms!Weight lossWatch out for this one, very dangerous.Vomiting., sometimes with worms in the vomitThis is also dangerous. This causes dehydration very easilyLow EnergyPuppies are wild little energy balls. If they are not, it can be a worms fault.ScootingAnal glands are a culprit here but!.. puppies rarely need anal glands expressed.→ Suspect worms. There are a lot of other symptoms that are less common but I won’t list them here.Instead I’ll give you the best advice I have to give.GO TO THE VETS.Trust me, worms aren’t a problem until they are.Congrats on your new pup if you got one!

My 5 week old, 1.2 pound kitten has worms and had major fleas. Too light for flea medicine or deworming. Help!

I took her to the vet three times in last week since the day after I adopted her. She stayed overnight last night at vet. She's eating a steady diet of 1 tbs. of baby food 4-6 times a day, kitten food w/ water, and soft cat food. Shes eating and pooping 4-5times a day but has actually lost an ounce in the last week. Doctor could do nothing for fleas so I picked off over thirty in first bath and rest in bath every other day. She has tapeworms, was bleeding little bit of bright red blood from butt, and butt telescoped out. They treated her for that, w/ anti-inflammatory, etc, but could do nothing else. I take her to a very good vet (Erickson's). She needs to gain 2 more pounds to be treated, but is vaccinated on Friday. I want a homeopathic remedy to help battle the worms, that isn't a harsh chemical or pesticide, to help in her gaining weight and keep the worms from irritating her intestine/anus/etc. I need temporary aid in keeping the worms from sucking all of the stored food from her.
