Do scar removal products such as creams and gels really work?
Credits to all those who advised this. Here is what I prefer to say-Scars have the best lightening success rate when they are more recent. Any scar treatment such as Mederma, ScarGuard, Aloe, and Vitamin E will help diminish the look of the scar but never completely make it invisible. The smaller and lighter it is to begin with, the better it will ultimately look. I am a believer of going with the simple stuff that will more than likely work as well as the expensive creams. Even the expensive $200 cream will never completely remove a scar or stretch marks.Just make sure that whatever you decide to go with should be applied daily, sometimes multiple times in a day for a few weeks/months prior to seeing any improvement. Don't be discouraged if it's been a week and your scar still looks the same, just keep applying your cream.I also wanted to point out that if your scar is recent, it should be protected from the sun for at least one year. A recent scar exposed to the sun will darken and instead you want it to do the opposite.Over-the-counter scar cream is widely available, but it isn't likely to produce significant results. Yes they work, and the work as well or better than similar quality products from other manufacturers, and usually at a better price. Artistry for example has been independently classified in the "prestige" class of skin care and cosmetics (along with brands like Lancome and Estee Lauder) and in general is significantly cheaper than competitors in that category. Glister toothpaste and mouthwash are usually a more expensive initial purchase, but if you use them as recommended they're significantly cheaper than the competition. Damaged skin will take quite a while to repair, something like the skin renewing peel may help, but don't forget to also look after your diet and nutritional needs! Skin is built from the inside out, and while skincare is important to help clean, protect and renew it, you need to ensure a healthy diet to make sure it's made right in the first place! If you don't, then exfoliation is definitely not good idea. Make sure also that you are using the right type of skincare for your skin (eg dry/normal/sensitive) or you may cause rather than cure problems.
