Good Option For A Double Major With Accounting

Good option for a double major with Accounting?

G'day,

I am assuming that you haven't started to study at Deakin yet.

If you are starting from the first year (fresh high-school grads with no credit transfer), then you do not have to decide now. In your first year at the Bachelor of Commerce, you are going to study the core units, which are 8 subjects from all different majors (and you MUST pass all of them). After the first year, you then decide which major(s) to choose. So no hurry. Even if you think you have chosen one in the first year, you can still change your mind. That's how flexible the Bachelor of Commerce is.

Having said that... in marketing major you are going to study everything abt launching new product (identifying the type of customers), market research (designing questionnaire, going out to conduct research), learn abt service marketing (eg. how to promote a hairdresser business). So it is not only sale-sale-sale, but also a bit of psychology as you are trying to understand the customer, not the product. Just have a thought, no need to decide now :)

If you like to go around the world, international business may probably be the one for you...

Hope that helps. Good luck :)

Which is a better double major: ACCOUNTING & ECONOMICS or ACCOUNTING & FINANCE or ECONOMICS & FINANCE???

1. Accounting is the easiest, but also requires the most study time (ironically). The concepts of Finance and Economics require you to understand more theoretical topics and more complex math. Accounting will require you to do a great deal of very boring work (memorization, balance sheets, data mining, etc)

2. Accounting will give you the most stable platform for work opportunities. Economics will give you the greatest flexibility with regards to the type of work you do.

3. Finance and Economics. A degree in Economics demonstrates that you know how to reason out complex problems. A degree in Finance is frankly just more interesting and requires you to understand very complex topics. I am not knocking accounting here. At the entry level they probably make more. However, there is a ceiling, unless you go into accounting law, which is very lucrative. The bottom line is that you should do what suits you. Accounting requires you to be very detail oriented and dedicated to seeing a problem out from beginning to end. I suggest taking the Meyers-Briggs personality typing test (or something similar). If you are more of a creative/option oriented type person, you are less likely to enjoy accounting.

Double major in Accounting and Psychology?

Sounds good to me. You could show them how much the government screws them on their taxes, and then hand them your other business card if they want to talk about their sudden depression.

Double Major Accounting & Economics Worth It?

I'm a CPA but I've taken several economics courses at the post-graduate level. If you're planning to go into accounting as a profession, you won't need any knowledge of economics beyond what you'd learn in Econ 101. As far as pursuing a career in economics, I doubt you'd need to have much of a background in accounting beyond the introductory levels.

The two majors are very different from each other. Although knowledge in both areas is a good thing, I can't think of any careers where it would necessarily be an asset to know both subjects in great depth.

Can I double major in Accounting and Criminal justice?

Im going to Pace university and wanted to major in Criminal justice and Accounting for a undergrad degree. I was just wondering if i could major in both because i want to get into the FBI eventually with these two degree's. On the website it says in the FAQ's-

Can students double major or minor?

Yes. Students must check their intended programs of study to make sure the academic area of their choice is available as either a minor or double major option. View the Academics website for more information.

I looked at the academic website and it didn't say anything. also the 2 majors are part of 2 different schools of Pace university.
Does this mean that i can double major in the two degree's?
It would be greatly appreciated if you could find me the answers.
