Good Walking Shoe Suggestions

Good walking shoe suggestions?

I had a similar problem with standing up all day at work and walking there and back, but I bought some Sketchers ( http://www.skechers.co.uk/women/styles/fitness-and-shape-ups ) and they are the most comfortable things in the world! Research which type would be best for you and your situation, but I personally bought the Tone Ups which are great for posture and arch support (as I have fallen arches which is why my feet get so achyI think!). Whatever type you get definitely get the ones with the rubbery curved soles (you'll understand when you see them haha!) as they're the ones which are most comfortable!
I don't know whether you live in the UK or not, but if you do, Clarks Unstructured shoes ( http://www.clarks.co.uk/c/womens-unstructured ) are amazingly comfortable. They are a really soft leather, breathable fabric, mould to your feet and are a wider style and are just so amazingly comfortable. They are significantly better than the Active Air range which although are comfortable are no where near as good as the Unstructured range! At work we sell a lot of them to nurses who are on their feet all day, just like you!

Neither of these types of shoe are particularly pretty, and some are a little bit on the pricey side, but if you are really desperate for more comfortable shoes, these are the best I can recommend! They are both like walking on air, but personally I lean a little more towards Sketchers just because of the additional arch support which just makes your feet feel completely at ease and relaxed even when you've been stood up for 8 hours!

Hope this helps!

Are Crocs good for all day walking shoes?

No.

Buyer beware buying a good walking shoes. I'm a difficult one when it comes to good shoes, I have bunion surgery with one foot, so I'm picky to prevent my other foot worst.

I bought a good 'walking shoes' called Mephisto, and walked on them in Europe for several hours and I was limping that afternoon. I just couldn't wear them anymore, I went back to my spare pair of mules. There's a certain shoes I could walk for days, without any problem, mostly mules shoes. One is my mules Icon, I've had those for 13 years.

Just recently, I bought 2 pair of shoes, $700 worth @ Zappos, where they have free shipping & free returns. I am a 5 1/2, so I bought a size 6. Returned them. Ordered a 5, too small. I saved $700.
I went to Nordstrom's, they're having shoe sales. Found 2 shoes, both less than $300. Both were rated as best comfortable shoes for walking. BTW: I wore one of the boots for 4 hours, and I didn't even do that much walking, mostly standing on the same spot . . . . and I was already limping. I took it back the following day!

I can't wear athletic shoes, but I can go for miles in my cowboy boots! So, if you want good walking shoes, specially for 2 weeks, you need to find one that you can stand & walk that you KNOW won't give you any problems, and ONLY YOU know which shoes they are, not from someone who haven't been in your shoes.

My cousin can shop for 13 hours wearing high heels, meaning what's good for others may hurt your feet. Who knows, those Crocs may be good for you. I'm not you and you're not me. I wear them, for the garden, but I can't wear them for too long.

Do you know of any good walking shoes?

Keens are really good walking shoes. They are so comfortable. You can buy them at Bink's Outfitters. That is the only store that I know for sure you can buy them from.

Nike's are good shoes too. But if they aren't working for you then I suggest you don't buy them.

New Balance is a great walking shoe. I wore them all the time.

I don't know where you live, but where I live we have this think called Fleet Feet. It is a great store that will see how you are walking and pick the perfect shoe for you. When I have to run in cross-country and track, they pick a shoe that helped with my calf problems and knee problems. I don't hurt in those areas anymore when I run. You should check where a store like that is locally.

Are toms good shoes for walking long distances?

I'm going to germany and were going to do alot of walking around and sight seeing. So I was wondering if Toms would be comfortable for traveling around walking long distances. I went to paris and alot of people from the tour group had on toms shoes. Any other suggestions on some cute shoes would be nice as well. Thank you =)

Any suggestions on how I can test my running shoes outside without getting them dirty?

..

I empathize with your question. When I am going from one brand or model of shoes to another, which I did two years ago, I end up testing and wasting a couple of pairs of shoes. Sometimes that is just part of the process.

Here's a few hints to get an early warning signal about the shoes you are testing.

-wear them, walking around, in your house for an hour or so. Though the lasts for running shoes (i.e., the bottoms and soles) are typically narrower than for walking shoes, and are designed for forward motion only, you can still get a pretty good idea about whether the shoes are wide enough and long enough by walking around for an hour on wood floors or carpeting.

-you don't have access to a treadmill, others have mentioned going to a track - that's a good idea as long as it is a rubberized surface with a lighter colorf (e.g., red) and not asphalt or with a darker surface.

Just about anything else will leave stains, or even wear down the shoes you are testing.

Talk to the clerks in the various running shoe stores. Some really good running shops will accept worn shoes back for refunds or exchanges. We found a shop in our area that would not provide a refund, but at least permitted an exchange.

**Something else to consider is to go to a running specialty shop that provides a gait analysis as part of their fitting services. The gait analysis results often give you a good idea in advance of selecting a shoe what types of shoes, or what characteristics of shoes, work for YOUR feet.

Apart from these ideas, it's a matter of trial and error finding a shoe that works for you. Once you do, stick with that shoe, buy extra pairs when they go on sale, unless the shoe manufacturer severely changes the characteristics of the model you like.

What's the best competitive walking shoe?

I'm doing the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in September, which means over 2 days, I will be walking 40 miles, and my current shoes aren't cutting it. I very badly need new shoes! I have no idea what is a good race walking shoe though. Any suggestions would really help. Thanks!!
