Patience... It is Sunday and not much gets done in the banking world on the weekend. Actually... nothing gets done. You will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday before this goes through and your card is activated. Pending means it is not activated and the computer is waiting for a human being to finish the process and that human being is off for the weekend.

These prepaid debit cards are generally a lousy deal because of a continuing monthly fee of $5.95 each month and you get nickeled and dimed to death with all kinds of other charges. My gut response is "no". It is not really a credit card. A credit card is unsecured debt. Being "pre-paid", Green Dot is more like a debit card. Here is a suggestion. If you have savings, go to a bank and ask if they offer "secured credit cards". Example: If you have $1000.00 in savings, you could deposit the $1000.00 at the bank in a certificate of deposit. The bank would give you a secured credit card with a $1000.00 maximum limit. If you pay your bills on time, everything is good; if you fail to pay your bills, the banks has your $1000.00 as collateral (it secures the debt). After a while, with a history of paying your statement on time, you can ask the bank if they can give you a unsecured credit card. If they do this, then you are on the road to building a credit history.

Please Help!!!!! So my mom bought this green dot so she could buy stuff online. She is so pissed because she has already put in her correct info but when she tried to make an account it as asking if she is my dad...? I already read all of the stuff in the package and its already lies. It say re-loadable on the front package,but right on the back of the card it says Non- Reloadable, Also says no ATM or pin debit access, another blatant contradiction. Had this same argument with my 16 year old niece. You cannot be a minor. Should work in person though. CALL THE 800#. They can tell you exactly why not. Also, can't use at recurring charge sites like porn or netflix or any subscription. Also, some merchants wont accept them anyway. Redbox won't either. MUST BE 18 TO ORDER ONLINE. They will catch you if you lie.
