Have You Ever Fake Tanned At Home Which Is Better Spray Tans Or Rub On Ones Which Have You Used

Can I spray tan after getting a tattoo?

After the tattoo is healed yes you can get a spray tan. The artist usually cleans the skin with soap and water before doing the tat and also shaves the area some artists use rubbing alcohol which will take the tan off. Personally I would wait until after the tattoo had healed completely so you don't get an infection. I have had one spray tan done and it didn't harm my tattoos at all since they were all healed. With a tattoo you kind of have to think of it as a open wound and would you want to get chemicals in that?

How soon after getting a tattoo can I use fake tan?

A tattoo is an open wound. You shouldn’t put anything on it that you wouldn’t put on a regular wound, which is to say nothing but your aftercare products (soap + water, and unscented lotion once it starts peeling). You also can’t soak it or expose it to sunlight. Even after it’s healed, you need to use sunscreen on it or risk fading and blowout. You can certainly “fake tan” the rest of your body, but the area which is tattooed should not be touched with the stuff until it’s at least fully healed. Contrary to the other answer, that generally takes quite a bit longer than 2 weeks. When it’s done with the final peel, it’s healed. That’s usually 4–6 weeks for most people, and tattoo artists generally say 2–3 months to be sure (most won’t rework a previous session until this much time has passed).

Is it safe to use spray tan?

We really don't know a lot about how the chemicals used in spray tans affect our bodies. Chemicals absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin can cause any number of health issues. With respect to spray tans, some of the chemicals used may be carcinogenic. A recent panel of medical experts reviewed the data from 10 studies on dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the active chemical in spray tans, and found that it has the potential to cause DNA damage.[1]Dihydroxyacetone may cause DNA damage via a Maillard reaction.[3] It reacts with the amino groups in proteins to form a brown compound. This same reaction can also occur between DHA and the amino groups in DNA. DNA has been shown to have been damaged by DHA in a dose-dependent manner.[3]Dihydroxyacetone is a small molecule and molecules of that size when applied to the skin are usually easily absorbed into the bloodstream. It's important to distinguish here between dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which is potentially toxic and docosahexaenoic acid, which is also abbreviated DHA and is likely safe. Docosahexaenoic acid is an omega-3 fatty acid that has been shown to have a number of benefits, and is commonly found in fish oil among other things. Beyond that, tanning pills are also unsafe, as they contain canthaxanthin which when taken in large amounts, can turn your skin orange, cause hives, and lead to liver damage and the formation of crystals in the retina, a condition known as canthaxanthin retinopathy.[2] [1] http://gma.yahoo.com/spray-tans-...[2] http://www.mayoclinic.com/health...[3] http://www.sciencedirect.com/sci...

Spray tan question?

1. Exfoliate - All the self-tanner in the world will do you no good if it attaches itself to dead skin that is about to come off your body! Use a loofah sponge in the bath the night before you self-tan to remove these dead skin cells.

2. Moisturize - Applying a good moisturizer a few hours before you self tan is a great way to make sure your skin is ready to accept the self-tanner.

3. Choose your clothes carefully - You should pick clothes that cover all the parts you do not wish to tan. Self-tanning nude is not recommended for newcomers, because the results can be unpredictable. Make sure you select tight fitting clothes so that the self-tanner cannot go under your sleeves. You should also choose dark colored clothes, since spray tanners will stain light clothes.

4. Use gloves - Nobody looks good with orange palms, so when you spray tanner on your hands in order to tan your face, don a pair of latex gloves to prevent stains.

5. If you are going to a tanning salon, follow the instructions! Self-tanning booths typically have a handout, so read up, and make sure you know what to do!

6. BLOT - After applying your spray tan, you will need to blot your skin with a towel to catch any drips.

7. Stand still - Standing still for about 30 seconds after a self-tanning booth application will ensure that your tan dries evenly. While it may take a lot longer to dry completely, the first minute or more is when you run a real risk of rubbing off the self-tanner before it has a chance to work.

8. Protect your feet - Because they typically get less sun than the rest of you, your feet are paler and may get dark faster. If you are spraying yourself, go lightly on the feet. If you are using a booth, use the paper booties (usually offered by staff) to protect your feet and apply a self-tanner later on to ensure you get the right shade.

Is there any way to keep a spray tan from rubbing off under my soccer shin guards?

So my mother does not allow me to tan in a tanning bed, so i was going to get a spray tan for prom. The only problem is, i play soccer, and we have 2 games ON the day of prom. so i was wondering how long in advance i should get a spray tan to keep it from easily coming off? if i do get one, WILL it rub off because of my shin guards, and maybe my jersey? and if yes, can i do something to KEEP it from coming off? or should i just not get one at all, for any reason.. (i am NOT tan, at ALL though, so i want to at least do something..)
HELP!

Will rubbing alcohol remove a spray tan?

it shouldn't. i guess it could remove a little bit but the only thing i have ever found that will actually help to remove a spray tan is bleach.

Can i put on my normal moisturizer after using a spray-tan?

Well, after having a professional spray tan done they recommend you moisturize twice a day with a WATER BASED body moisturiser to prolong it. Water is usually listed as 'aqua' on the ingredients list; avoid oil based moisturizers, they work better than water based ones but might strip your tan. Ingredients like AHAs, retinol and sodium Lauryl Sulfate can also damage the colour.

Both home and professional fake tans contain DHA to create the tanned colour so i'd assume the advice would be the same for a shop bought product like neutrogena.

How do I stop my sheets from turning orange after spray tanning?

Knew someone who went to a Halloween party as The Devil in red greasepaint.  Came home and passed out on the bed.  Dry cleaner wouldn't touch the sheets. Is "buying orange sheets" too obvious?Experiment with the stain remover products.  They're expensive--wipe ons and spray ons--and I would hesitate to use them on an area as big as a body print on sheets.  But I'm cheap, and I don't spray tan, and they're probably cheaper than new sheets.I use old towels when the purple in my hair is fresh, and that reduces the rub-off on my good towels by 90%.Experiement with your laundry products, and consider footed pajamas for the first few days after a new treatment.  The rub-off falls off on an 80/20 curve, almost certainly.
