Help In Urinalysis Interpreatation

What's the interpretation of my urinalysis? help please.?

Please tell me the official urinalysis report did not list "pus cells."
That should be white blood cells.
And you cannot have 150 white blood cells per high powered field.
150 white blood cells won't fit in a high powered microscope field.
Are you giving us accurate information here?
With many white cells and bacteria, this is a report consistent with bacterial infection of the bladder - cystitis. Hopefully a course of antibiotic therapy has been prescribed.
Your doctor should be explaining this for you.

Interpretation of Lab Values - HELP - Urinalysis?

Can anyone answer the questions below? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

As part of a routine physical examination, a urinalysis is performed on a midstream voided urine collection from an apparently healthy (asymptomatic), 8 year old girl. The following results are obtained.

Urinalysis results:
Physical appearance
color: yellow
transparency: hazy
Chemical Screening
pH 6
specific gravity 1.010
protein 30 mg/dL protein (SSA ) 1+
blood negative
nitrite negative
leukocyte esterase positive
glucose negative
ketones negative
bilirubin negative
urobilinogen normal
Because of the results of the protein test by reagent strip, the urine was tested with the sulfosalicylic acid test for protein.

A microscopic examination of the urine sediment was performed.

Microscopic examination of the urinary sediment:
red blood cells 0-2/hpf
white blood cells 10-25/hpf
casts none seen
epithelial cells few squamous
bacteria moderate

After reviewing the results of the urinalysis, the physician requests a gram stain and urine culture.

Microbiology results:
Gram stain Gram positive cocci in chains
Urine culture Greater than 100,000 cfu/ml Enterococcus faecalis

Questions:
1. What urinalysis findings are abnormal?

2. This laboratory does not perform microscopic on all routine urinalysis tests. Why was a microscopic examination of the urine sediment performed in this case?

3. Can the urine collection already tested (U/A and sediment) be gram stained and culture? Why or why not?

4. Explain the negative nitrite result and the presence of bacteria in the urine sediment.

5. Would the results be more likely to represent an upper or lower urinary tract infection? Explain.

Urinalysis, anyone have an interpretation?

it sounds like you have a kidney infection -- Your urine is turbid (cloudy) and has bacteria and protein present, and some blood that is visible only under a microscope (Occult = "hidden"). Your white cell count is high, which is characteristic of an infection.

This is born out by the fever, tired feeling, ads sweating. The swollen face means that you are retaining water -- another sign of kidney disease.

be sure and follow doctors orders. he will probably prescribe a treatment of anti-bacterial medication, and over-the-counter medication for the pains. The fever will go away on its own as the anti-bacterial medications work.

it is VERY important that you take ALL medications as prescribed, even when you feel better. If you don not take ALL the medication, the infections can return.

INTERPRETING FBS TEST AND URINALYSIS TEST RESULTS - Can somebody help me?

Can somebody help me give interpretation for the following results?

Patient: Male, 16 yrs. old

BLOOD CHEMISTRY
Test: FBS
Result: 4.59 MMOL/L
Normal Value: 3.10-6.40 MMOL/L

MICROSCOPY
Test: Urinalysis
Results:
Physical Characteristics
Color: Yellow
Transparency: Hazy
Reaction: Acidic
pH: 5.00
Specific Gravity: 1.03
Chemical Test
Albumin: [-]
Sugar: [-]
Microscopic Findings
Cells
RBC: 0-1/HPF
PUS Cell: 0-2/HPF
Squamous Cell: Rare
Bacteria: Few
Mucus Threads: 2+

I am tasked to give interpretation for each specific finding clearly and completely.

Thank you.

Urinalysis. Please interpret my urinalysis result.?

Its considered normal. Few bacteria usually are from the skin around the penis that fall in. Men almost never get urinary tract infections, they get prostate ones and you would know. The rest of the infection indicators (nitrates, leukocytes are negative) Keeping hydrated helps flush, Do not obsess about this or the blood-That is also normal at that low level, it just should be monitored to make sure its not increasing. It means blood came from somewhere in the bladder or penis and could just be a few oozing out along the way--again pretty normal. Trying to do "things" to treat just numbers is not how care works. Simply follow the results as a trend.

Help with a urinalysis lab!?

I have to do a urinalysis lab for IB Biology and I'm completely lost on most of them.

The urine samples are: a normal person, someone with insufficient Islets of Langerhans, someone with a pituitary disorder who doesn't release ADH into the bloodstream, someone who has long loops of Henle due to a congenial defect, and someone who has "leaky" basement membranes in the glomerulus.

The materials include: Biuret solution, sudan IV solution, Iodine solution, Phenolphtalein solution, Benedict's solution, Methylene blue solution, pH papers, metric ruler, microscope with slides and coverslips, a hot water bath, a 10mL graduated cylinder, and test tubes with holders.

To make things difficult, we were told not everything included may be used and we can ask for additional materials if needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Urinalysis, anyone have an interpretation?

Your labs indicate several abnormalities that may be indicative of a UTI.
Abnormalities noted:
1) appearance is turbid but should be clear.
2) nitrite is positive. Bacteria reduce nitrate to nitrite. This only indicates the presence of bacteria but not which type nor the quantity.
3) leukocyte esterase is a byproduct of active leukocytes. This is the most sensitive indicator of an actual infection.
4) Proteinuria or protein in the urine. Not specific for infection.
5) WBC should normally be 0-5 cells/mm^3. WBC > 5-10 cells/mm^3 is abnormal.
6) Bacteria should be few (or < 10 ^5 bacteria/ml). Moderate to many bacteria is abnormal.

Clinical symptoms will determine type of infection:
1) cystitis - common symptoms is dysuria, frequency, and urgency. Possibly some tenderness and hematuria (blood in urine).
or
2) pyelonephritis - common symptoms are flank pain and/or tenderness with fever. This often presents itself with cystitis symptoms as well.

At this point, your doctor will be reviewing the lab results with you and prescribe an antibiotic.
