Help Me. I Have A Really Big Headache And Possible Concussion I Need Some Advice

Possible concussion after blacking out from drinking? Need serious advice please!!?

I'm 19 and in college. Sunday, I decided to get drunk really quick. I had a little over half a fifth of vodka to myself in under 20 minutes. I haven't drank vodka in a while so i'm guessing that's why it hit me so hard. I ended up not remembering anything from that night, and woke up in my room the next day with everything missing. A couple people told me I passed out in the bathroom and puked for a while and my have fell. They said I laid there for 45 minutes before getting back up. They didn't see what happened though because I shut the door when I went in the bathroom. That was my very first time blacking out from alcohol.

Anyways, last night I woke up around 3am with the worst headache of my life. I literally sat in my bed holding my head aching in severe pain until around 6:30am. I really wanted to go to the medical center. It was the worst pain i've ever experienced. I thought maybe it was just from dehydration, but I didn't have a headache all day until then. This morning I even felt funny with a minor headache all day. I recently had some sharp pains to my head again and got scared and took some pills. They usually don't last against this though.

Any advice on what I should do? I've decided to go to medical center on campus and tell them the truth , if the pain gets severe again. Could it have been a possible concussion and I don't remember hitting my head because of blacking out? Any help will be appreciated.

Already had concussion and hit head really hard again?

What you have described is serious and needs medical attention right away! I am not trying to scare you but it really could be a serious head injury. You should take a pain killer so you are not in terrible pain and then you should wake someone up and say you should go to a hospital. With the worst case possible you may have bleeding in the brain and need surgery right away to live, best case possible is that you just need rest and got a bump on your head. If you feel severe pressure in your head and it doesn't feel like a normal headache then you need to go to the hospital NOW, if it just feels like a headache maybe wait it out and see if you can make it until morning but if you feel the need to go seek medical attention DO IT!
I had this thing happen to a friend (17yrs old) he hit his head on a metal gold post for soccer when leaping to get the ball. He had a cracked skull. It was fine after he had surgery but it was intense.
I wish you the best of luck but really right now is not the time to be courteous and let your friend sleep if you need to wake him/her up and make them take you to a doctor. :)

Taking midrin for 'tension headaches' after a concussion. questions?

I've never had any patients complain of fatigue after taking Midrin (not that I have used or seen it used on that many).

As to your condition, I would see the neurologist as soon as possible. Your instinct that something is not right is spot on. Your current symptoms might be related to the concussion you suffered, but I have never really seen anyone with a "mild concussion" have this severe of a post-concussive syndrome.

You have had a normal CT, and it has been almost a year, so most of the bad things, like a bleed should have manifested long before now. What you are describing could be migraine headaches or could be a seizure disorder.

Don't get all worried hearing that, and take it with a grain of salt. Obviously there are other things going on with you that you may not realize are relevant or just forgot to mention. Also I have not, nor can I examine you or the scan.

How do you know if you have a concussion?

My head is throbbing and I have a huge headache?

Twelve year olds can't buy Tylenol where you live? Odd.

I have had six concussions in about 4 years and I can assure you that they have many different after effects. For example one of mine caused migraines and I could hear the blood pumping in my ears to my brain and making it swell ever more till I went to the ER. The next one just caused stars and nausea when it happened. One of them caused me to be in a "slow thought" and forgetful state for weeks after it happened.

Just keep in mind that they're all different, different collisions to different parts of the brain will cause different side effects.

After my second one, I can now instantly tell when I get a concussion. As the brain hits you will feel it and might see black spots *stars* and might be slow to get up. Usually dizzy once you actually get up too. Some people get instantly knocked but only for seconds generally. I get mad when I hear a football coach mention seeing stars like it's a right of passage, I remember as a freshman when I got demolished by a senior and I seen those same stars and thought they were normal. When you see stars it means that your brain just collided, you should always checked out if you think you may have a concussion to be on the safe side.

Also, multiple concussions during a short amount of time will cause severe damage. Imagine that you broke your leg, now imagine someone kicking that injured leg and displacing the bone again. That's essentially what happens when your swollen brain collides again. Make sure you tell the doctor that you had another concussion recently.
