Help Name Characters For My Book

What is a good character's name for my book?

Popular boys names in the late 1990s were names like Cody, Kyle, Austin, Tyler, Brandon, Zachary, Justin among the more traditional names like Christopher, Michael, Andrew, Michael, David.  Top name for boys those years was Michael, which could allow for lots of nicknames. The city is 70% Caucasian, so he'd be from a white family likely, but you'd be mistaken about "worker" family, it's a very expensive city to live, among the most expensive in the country so he'd be more upscale, more privileged - the median home prices are around $2million. His dad would probably be in the tech industry, medical or real estate. I'm betting dad's a realtor, that would allow for the kid to have more free time on his own. So, I'd name him something along the lines of Kyle Jeffords, or Christopher Sutton, Michael Bennett, Zachary Tyler. Just food for thought, since you've picked such a distinct geographic region, the name should fit.source demographic Los Altos, Californiasource names Top names of the 1990s

Do you like these names for my book characters?

I love the names! Especially for the fact that they're fairly unique yet pronunceable and not something totally insane like gyskrgdjkerk (randomly hitting my keys with my fist? What? no....) Anyways, you get the point.

Also, you've got the names and looks of the characters, but do you have their personalities? Hobbies? Gifts? Flaws? Etc.... Those are some things to think about. Making them not only a face with a name, but making the reader believe it's almost an actual person. So work on that next if you haven't already! :) Additionally, that will help complete your story.

You're plot sounds really interesting! I would keep working on it and mixing in a few additions. There's already been a few stories similar to this so adding your own personal marks, twists, and unexpected events will help make the story.... "Yours". If you get what I'm saying?

Oh, before I go, if you have time could you please answer my question?

If not don't worry about it. Just work on your story and creating those characters! You have a great plan for it, keep going!! I'd love to read it someday. :)

Can you help me name a Latina character?

After reading the description to made, and because as a writer I have faced the same, I could offer you some samples. Because she is American she don't need to have the two surnames as we Mexicans do, then this make the thing a little more simple:Fernanda is quite possible, is modern and string and you can nickname her Fer which is short and easy. Ximena, is a much more spaniard style but quite popular among Mexicans and sounds lovely. Alejandra, then you can use the nickname Alex which is strong short and kind of universal. Soledad, is traditional and strong but sweet. "sole" is a goo nickname. Isabel, is beautiful and quite traditional, "Chave" is not a very good nickname in my opinion but is very traditional. Martina, is traditional and modern and can be shortened as Marti or TinaSandra, is old fashioned and sophisticated and can be Sandy.Julieta, July, very romantic. Fabiola, maybe she only let her father call her Fabi. Ana, easy and universal Mariana, vey Mexican there is not a good nickname. The surname depends on the the kind of family background I think. This are traditional and easy to use for a worker class family:LopezPerezMoreno  This are, in my opinion more useful for a family more in the middle high class:EcheverriaNegrete EspinosaMendozaAdameThis are more fancy "let's said" I'll use this for a rich Mexican family recently emigrated because the business needs: Fernández Del PasoAristularreaJimenez-HaroEsquivelGood luck and regards.

Good LAST names for characters in my book? (Please Help)?

I know this question is kind of tired out on here, but I am seriously stumped. To me, names are important in stories and I can't think of any good last names to go with my character's first names. Their names are Cassidy, Natalia (Talia), Liam, Miles, Mason, James, and Travis. Any help wold be appreciated, Thanks ;)

For my book character, should I do a name that no one has heard before, or a familiar name?

Always give your character(s) a name that will suit them and not just some random name you think sounds good or that no one has used before. Each name, first and surname, have meanings. If you really know the characters you are going to use in your story then you will know maybe three basic traits that make your characters into who they are. Research meanings of name and find a name that has to do with the basic character traits.Hollywood used to do this all the time in giving actors and actresses names that would reflect the basic aura of the person. The delicious nature of Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson (later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker). Producer wanted the name changed to something that was already part of her sex appeal. Many men around him would “MMMMMM!” in looking at her photos — so the MMMM translated into Marilyn Monroe. Archibald Leech was not sexy and no one would be motivated to come see the actor no matter how great a film he made — but as Cary Grant….Always find the appropriate name for your character and not just one that you think sounds great or unique.

What book has a character named Yvonne ?

Thousands of books have had characters named Yvonne. Are you looking for a particular book?

Can you help me find a name for my main character?

If you are creating your own universe then it is assumed you will be creating specific types of people with their own languages and societal backgrounds. In that situation I would suggest that you begin your story by telling the reader the general nature of your universe and why you are writing the book in English, for the reader. At the back of the book you can add a glossary that explains the meanings of all your character and place names.e.g.: You call a character “Pupunuggi” and you explains that coming from the province of “Shetland” his name means Shit Head…..etc.This is just an idea of how you can do it. If you are not creating your own universe but writing something Earth-Oriented then it is a really good idea to research names and meaning, for people around the planet. You never need to explain the meaning of names, unless you choose. In textbook I just completed on the Creative Process and what makes Literature I cover the creation of Characters and giving them the appropriate name, in one full chapter. It really would be worth the review to understand what’s in a name.
