Help Red Dots On Uvula

I have a red dot on my uvula?

I just found a little red dot on my uvula (thing that hangs at the back of your throat) and it doesn't hurt, but is a little uncomfortable. Does anybody know what this could be??

Help?! Red dots on my uvula and more!?

It sounds like you have a bacterial infection in your upper respiratory tract, in the nasal passages and/or sinuses and possibly your throat. The red dots on the mucosa of your uvula or other areas of your throat could be something called "patechiae," which are tiny spots of ruptured blood vessels in that mucosa. This could be caused by a throat infection (combined with the rest of the infection), or from drainage of purulent mucus (which you very well described), or from coughing, sneezing, any vomiting, or even possibly from loss of natural bacteria you have in your GI system, which the antibiotics are killing off. It's hard to tell exactly. A good probiotic such as acidophillus can help re-colonize your stomach and GI system. You can get acidophillus by eating yogurt, or acidophillus milk from the market, or acidophillus or other probiotics at your pharmacy. Again, this is just one possible cause of the spots. It's also possible they were caused by a virus which may have led to the secondary bacterial infection.

In any case, the antibiotics should take care of your other symptoms, and the red spots will go away on their own. The feeling of fluid running down the back of your throat is exactly what it is, but it's the mucus clearing out, not water. The dry mouth is likely due to mild dehydration. Bacterial infections pull a lot of water out of your body to wash out the yucky stuff. And you may be tasting the antibiotic (depending on what it is) or the mucus itself. Drinking lots and lots of water or juice (not milk or milk products, as they thicken the mucus) will speed healing. And if you don't get better after you finish your antibiotics, you should see your doctor. Z-pack disclaimer: If the antibiotics are azithromycin (commonly called a Z-pack,) you only take six pills for five days, and the antibiotics keep working for another five days, even though you run out of pills. So if you were on a Z-pack, give it another five days for symptoms to disappear. And again, rest, and fluids, fluids, fluids!

Feel better!

Uvula has red dots on it?

this can very likely be streptococcus aureus. if your adenoids start to get red, and you develop pus filled white lesions on your tonsils, than you should worry about streptococcal pharyngitis (strep throat).

Help! Red dots on uvula?

What do I do?!? Should I go to the hospital?

What does it mean if you have red dots on your uvula?

I've had a sore throat for 4 days now,
my tonsils are big,
& on the first day I had a fever of 100.3

On the second day I had 3 dots on my uvula, and now I have a bunch of tiny red dots on my uvula

It also feels like I have something stuck down in my throat.

do you know if it is strep? or...? I'm kinda getting worried.

Big red spots on uvula?

i’ve been dealing with reoccurring thrush all last year for an unknown reason, i’ve done tests after tests and no answers but as of right now i have huge blood red spots on my uvula that doesn’t hurt nor itch should i be concerned? no fever.

I have had these red dots on my uvula, what can this mean?

.What you are describing may be uvular petechiae. Petechiae is defined
as the following:
"Petechiae result from tiny areas of superficial bleeding into the
skin. They appear as round, pinpoint-sized dots that are not raised.
The color varies from red to blue or purple as they age and gradually
disappear."

Please understand my limitations over the internet as I have neither
met nor examined you. This information is for patient education only.
Please see your personal physician for further evaluation

Do red dots on my uvula mean I have strep?

go to your local doctor for an evaluation
they can take a culture and determine if you indeed have strep
