Pre-calc Homework Help?!?
You could always find the roots graphically: F(x)=x³+x-10 has only 1 real root at (x,y) = (2,0) So, F(x) = x³ + x - 10 = (x-2)(x²+2x+5) Now use the quadratic formula to find the remaining 2 complex roots: ...........-2 ± √(2²-4(1)(5)) .....x = ------------------------ ...............2(1) ............-2 ± √(-16) .....x = --------------- ..................2 .....x = -1 ± 2i So, your roots are x = 2, x = (-1+2i) and x = (-1-2i)...........ANS and F(x) = x³ + x - 10 = (x-2)(x + 1+2i)(x + 1-2i) (see graph below)

I have problem finding the answer to this problem: -Jake stores a small cache of 4-inch diameter snowballs in the basement freezer, unaware that the freezer's self-defrosting feature will cause each snowball to lose about 1 cubic inch of volume every 40 days. He remember them a year later (call it 360 days) and goes to retrieve them. What is their diameter then? If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. I think it's a question about chance but I am not sure. Please help.

(a) at what prices p is revenue zero? This is essentially a quadratic equation 4p² + 4000p = 0 Factor out 4p 4p(p + 1000) = 0 From zero product rule 4p = 0 p = 0 p + 1000 = 0 p = -1000 p = (-1000, 0) Since the price would not be negative p = 0<––––– -------------------------- (b) for what range of prices will revenue exceed 800,000? 4p² + 4000p = 800000 note: this is a parabola thet opens up Divide both sides by 4 p² + 1000p = 200000 Complete the square (p + 500)² = 200000 + 500² (p + 500)² = 450,000 Take the square root of both sides p + 500 = ±670.82 Subtract 500 from both sides p = (-1170.82, 170.82) As before the price would not be negative p = 170.82 Since this is a parabola that opens up the revneue will exceed 800,000 when p ≥ 170.82 <––––––

Hi guys, I'm a little stuck on these problems. It says to write each expression as a single function. A) Cos(37)cos(28)+sin(37)sin(28) B) tan(2x)+tan(5x)/1-tan)2x)tan(5) C) 5sin(3x)cos(3x) D) 5-10sin^2x Thanks for the help.

Hi, i have pre cal homework today. It seems that i cant figure out a problem. It tells me to find the values of the six trignometric functions of the theta. So what i have on the sheet of problems is Function Value cotangent theta is undefined Constraint pi/2 less than or equal to theta less than or equal to 3pi/2 If you know that answer can you please tell me what is (x,y) and what quadrant is the triangle in.
Help with PreCalc homework, can someone explain this problem?
If alpha is in the second quadrant, sine should be a negative value.... Besides that, it's easiest to draw a reference triangle, making the hypotenuse 41 and the opposite side of angle alpha 40. Then use a^2+b^2=c^2 to get the third side. a=40, c=41. That will give you the third side of your triangle. You will then take that side, which is adjacent to alpha, and put it over 41. It should be 9/41

Interesting problems! arithmetic sequence: a(n) = b +(n - 1)d a(4) = b + 3d = 20 a(13) = b + 12d = 65 subtract to get: 9d = 45, d = 5 b + 3(5) = 20, b = 5 1st 5 terms: 5 + 0x5, 5 + 1x5, 5 + 2x5, 5 + 3x5, 5 + 4x5 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 (2x + y)^6 = (2x)^6 + 6C1(2x)^5y + 6C2(2x)^4y^2 + 6C3(2x)^3y^3 + 6C4(2x)^2y^4 + 6C5(2x)y^5 + y^6 = 64x^6 + 192x^5y + 240x^4y^2 + 160x^3y^3 + 60x^2y^4 + 12xy^5 + y^6 1 + 1.5 + 1.5^2 + 1.5^3 + . . . + 1.5^49 = 1.5^49(1.5^-49 + 1.5^-48 + 1.5^-47 + . . . + 1.5^-1 + 1) = 1.5^49( 1 + (2/3) + (2/3)^2 + . . . + (2/3)^49) = (3/2)^49[ (1 - (2/3)^50 ) / (1 - 2/3) = 3(3/2)^49[ 1 - (2/3)^50 ] = 3(3/2)^49 - 3(2/3) = 3(3/2)^49 - 2 = 1275242998 --------------------------------------... Question concerning mileage. Pre-calc Homework Help.?
Assume she is flying due east (+X direction) for 1.5 hours...therefore she has travelled 975 miles. Hence you have a vector A = 975i + 0j units long. Then she deviates from east by 10 degree and travels for 2 hours = 1300 miles or Vector B = 1300*cos10i - 1300*sinj, which is B = 1280.25i - 225.74j.....Add vectors A and B to get Resultant = 975i + 0j + 1280.25i - 225.74j = 2255.25i - 225.74j...then take the magnitude of this vector and you get your solution. Note: i and j are the unit vectors for X and Y coordinates.
