Hey All How Long Will It Take For Me To Get A Bachelor

Is it hard to live as a bachelor your whole life?

Yes it is and sucks more and more as you get older. Speaking as a single, 54 year old man who has never been married I can tell you that being alone as you get older is a scary and unpleasant proposition. Now, it's relatively easy to find anyone to marry but it's not just as easy as grabbing the first available woman who will have you and tying the knot. As you get older you become more aware and sure of your values and what you want. If you are not careful you become inflexible and unable to negotiate those values. In the meantime I see around me people my age who not only have experienced the trials, pain and joy of child-rearing, but are becoming grandparents. For a long time while they were changing diapers and coaching little league I was practicing for tri-athlons, traveling the world, doing whatever activity struck my fancy and drove expensive cars. They were the winners in the long run. Yes some, perhaps many, of them divorced but they still have their families and children, they experienced the joy of transferring their knowledge and love to another generation of themselves, not strangers, and they formed intimate bonds with someone special that exceed mere friendship. I don't regret the good times I had or the adventures or the exciting romantic rendezvous but I think all those things pale in comparison to sharing consistent, cohesive moments with someone you build a future with and plan to grow old with, and do. In addition, the silence of being alone is deafening. You can fill your hours with activities, reading, volunteering and more but coming home to an empty house and wondering who will find you if you die alone in the middle of the night, and who will even care,  is one of the most pathetic fears of an aging bachelor's life. I still live in hope that somewhere out there is the love of my life, waiting to be discovered somehow, but it's with increasing fear and doubt that that hope is threatened.

How to become a nurse with a Bachelor degree in Sociology?

I'm working on my BSN(bachelor of science in nursing), and some of the prerequisite classes i took were either directly related to sociology or was a branch of sociology. So you probably have some classes out of the way. I imagine you will need about a year to finish up your pre-reqs before you can apply for a program. Then once you get out of school you can request to work in a certain area or field and get specific training. Good Luck!

Did anyones marriage fall apart, because of a bachelor party?

What's the big deal about a bunch of men paying to watch a stripper dance around on a poll and give a few lap dances before your man and all his friends run out of dollar bills and call it a nite. From what I have seen real life is not like the movie "Very Bad Things" (which is not a movie you should run out and rent first chance you get-PLEASE). It's a last chance one last time thing he probablly doesn't care a lot about anyways and is more likely doing out of pressure/obligation for his friends. It's what happens between the two of you after the "I dos" and if you think you two are meant to be forever.

Why do people go back to school for a second bachelor's degree?

To begin a new career. The popular myth that a bachelor’s degree in one field (ie BA in any Liberal Arts or Humanities) will qualify you for a Master’s degree in EVERY OTHER FIELD no matter how radically different it may be (ie nursing, computer science, or electrical engineering) is exactly that: a myth. The fact is that while you can get a Master’s in a different field than your Bachelor’s (like English to Business Management), it often not the case in a science, health, mathematics and engineering. You will need to either a) start with a second bachelor’s or b) take prerequisites classes, pass the GRE or GMAT and hope your GPA is high enough so a University will accept you into their program. Route b) will often take 4 years to complete (adjusting for Pre-Reqs, tests, applications and Masters), while route a) will perhaps take less time if your second college accepts all the credits from your previous degree (mine’s did, but some will not accept all of them) and less money. It usually sucks, but hey: if you struck out with the first degree and you want to get into a field that is in HIGH DEMAND and PAYS A DECENT SALARY then it needs to be done.

How long will it take to become a Registered Nurse?

Regarding your age, you are not late nor will you ever be too old to learn and get the degrees you want.

It will take you any where from 2 to 5 years with pre/core-reqs and the actually nursing [clinical rotations] classes to obtain either RN-Diploma, RN-ADN, or RN-BSN degree after which you sit to take boards.

You are very wise to take the pre-reqs before actually entering the nursing program.

You could start now applying to nursing school while you finished your other classes.

Nursing exams are not like any other exam you will take. When you know the facts you have to apply that to discern the answer to the test questions.

Yes, you will get some "hands on" experience through clinical and in your lab during your classes.

You are in for a great rewarding and humbling career. Really, nursing is not just a job, it can be a wonderful career with many different areas to work in.

I was an LPN before I became an RN. Hats off to you and to your mom.

Much success.

After you join the military, how long can you become the general, or commanding officer?

"An officer" is one thing. All you gotta do is get your bachelor's degree and get through Officer Candidate School, or be part of ROTC in college. It'll take about 4-5 years to go from high school grad to military officer.

"The general" is a whole other can of worms. Keep in mind that less than 1% of officers commissioned in the military even get to O-7 (that's a 1-star general). You will have to prove yourself against some of the toughest "job competition" in the world. Most generals are graduates of West Point military academy loads of distinguished service medals including those from other countries.
