How Are These Highschoolers Not Obese By Now

Why do I only ever see obese people riding those electric scooters?

I've seen people of all sizes use them before...But the obese people that you are complaining about need them. They might have gotten that fat because of a disability (not being able to exercise plus medication that makes you gain weight can cause someone to become obese). Their weight might not even be the reason they need the scooter.
Even if they are obese because of being lazy and/or bad eating habits doesn't mean they magically don't need the scooters. That much weight can cause health problems involving muscles, bones, breathing issues, heart issues, joint problems, etc.
The scooters are there for people that need them, not just handicapped people.
If a person that is so over weight they need the scooter walking around the store could kill them. You never push yourself past your limits when you have health issues no matter if those issues were preventable or not. Some people are handicapped because of a stupid decision or because of something that could have been prevented. It doesn't matter how the person became disabled or what caused their health issues.

Why am i forced to take P.E. in highschool to be able to graduate?

Why am I forced to take PE to be able to graduate highschool??? Obviously, MUCH MORE than half of the kids in almost any given highschool dont turn out to be pro sport players. Plus, school is about "academics", not forced physical fitness. I think school boards and administrations should seriously consider making gym/PE an elective and keep it that way. Forcing overweight kids to take PE does NOT encourage them to get in shape, by the way!
And wouldn't making PE an elective help the budget for schools(that do not have a health class separate from PE) to get a health class, because it would lower the number of PE classes being taken and would probably mean that the teacher wouldn't get paid as much as before(would suck for them, but oh well), which would allow the school to add a health class(separate from PE) if it is not already there?

How can I lose fat and get fit as a teenager in high school? I'm not willing to count calories or go to a gym.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not an expert on nutrition or exercise, but based on my own experience I can offer the following advice:There are no half-measures. If you want to lose weight and get in shape you have to be fully committed to your goal. That doesn’t mean at all you have to torture yourself, but keep focused and don’t cut yourself any slack. No cheat days! :)You don’t need to count calories to eat healthy - there are changes you can make on a day-to-day basis that can make a difference. For example, choose whole wheat bread instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white rice, grilled foods instead of fried, 1% milk rather than 2% or 3%, etc…Accept that losing weight will take time. It will be hard to ignore cravings and it will be hard to exercise as you won’t see the changes instantly, but don’t give up!Portioning: when it comes to any food, it’s all a matter of quantity. Nothing, even junk food, is bad in moderation. So do eat three meals a day, but evaluate every meal in terms of how much you’re eating. For example, a steak should be 6–7oz., rather than 10 or 12.Snacks: Snacks are good! I’d recommend a healthy midmorning/afternoon snack, such as celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or fruit and cheese. Something light and healthy, with a combination of food groups.Variety: Just as with the snacks, variety is key. Make sure you are eating grains, proteins, dairy, etc throughout the day. When it comes to exercise, I have good news - you don’t need a gym! Go for a run around the neighborhood, do push-ups, crunches, squats, or anything of that sort. The key is consistency - choose a target, say, four times a week, and in the words of Nike, “just do it.”I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck!

Why are there so many overweight/fat/obese football coaches around?

These guys should be setting the example. I've seen more middle and high school coaches that are about as wide as half their O-line put together. A lot of college and pro coaches are very think around the middle also. You would think coaching and just being around athletes and athletics would motivate them to look like something other than a fat slob. Athletic directors also fat fat fat. YUCK!! I understand they aren't hired for their looks but geeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Insider of an obese teen!?

I do wonder if you are also an obese teen and trying to learn how to deal with your situation. Whether or not that is the case, I thought I would share my memory as a very obese teenager.

I started high school at 14 and 350 pounds and finsihed at 17 and around 475 pounds. I was always fat and obese. As an adult in my 20s and 30s I lost my weight and kept it off. In my 40s I put the weight back on and more and now weight 650 pounds.

My parents and siblings were all normal sized. I was the only fat one in our family. Why - I liked to eat and i liked being very fat and obese. I was definitely the rolly polly pudgy kid before high school. I was active but not athletic through junior high since I was so fat. I liked my size and I did not mind being the kid with the very big belly who had trouble fitting in chairs and bending over. I was very happy being very fat and always dressed well to show my size. Did I get teased or ridiculed - yes. Did it bother me - no. Why - I was my size because I chose to be this way. I knew that my love of eating was what made me my size. However, I also knew that I was very happy being very fat.

What made it easy for me to go through each day and deal with the comments about how my waist size was larger than my height? I was confident in who I was and I showed it. If teased or ridiculed, I would say "Thank you for noticing; yes I am fat and I love it!" I was very well educated and socially very well adjusted. I was not hiding any emotional issues that made me fat. The reason I was fat and kept getting fatter was how much I ate. I did not hide that fact - at school or elsewhere. It was my choice and my responsibility to deal with the daily issues. I knew I could change if I wanted to and eat less or even lose weight. I did that later as an adult. But that was not what I wanted when I was a teen. I wanted to be large and as a result I was very big and very happy.

Do things really change that much after high school? (top jock now obese and unemployed, pretty girl is ugly)?

Yes they do, a lot.

I graduated in 1996 as well (lol we are brothers) and I saw some of the craziest things happen. The nerd who was an outcast and always excluded from things ended up changing after high school. He went to community college, improved his social skills, got a better body and everything. Now this kid didn't have a social life or a girlfriend in high school, well after high school it was a different story. I saw this kid with a pretty Puerto Rican girl, a beautiful Asian girl, a hot Indian (India) girl (he was Indian himself so yea), a beautiful Brazilian girl and now he is married to a Brazilian woman and has two kids with her. Over the years I saw him with some pretty looking females and I mean it is great how much things change.

One girl who was always boastful got into Princeton, didn't do the best there and is now unemployed, looking for a job in a tough economy. She hit depression while she was at Princeton and now she is basically unemployed and living with her parents.

I was the average kid who was always underrated, people would pick on me and often I would have troubles hanging out with groups. I was not an outcast but I wasn't too popular either, in many cases I would be the kid who would talk to people but not the kid anyone would take seriously, never even had a girlfriend. Well about 14 years later, I am married and about to be a father. I have had a great life so far after high school.
