How Can Add Cash Holdings To My Portfolio I Google The Answers It Says To Click Add Transaction

How to track cash dividends in Yahoo! Transaction Portfolio?

In my Yahoo! Finance Transaction Portfolio, when I click on Filters, I see the option to select "Cash Div." (not to mention spinoff, split, etc). However, there is no way to enter your own Cash Dividends through the New Transactions page, and Yahoo doesn't track cash dividends given out by stocks in your holdings.

Does anyone know how to track cash dividends manually, or if there's some way to "turn it on"?

Thanks in advance.

When selecting the transactions tab in my Yahoo portfolio, no positions appear for editing or deleting?

How do I convert a portfolio to a transaction portfolio--the method described in yahoo does not work?

Hey Ed,

I just went to try and replicate this issue you experienced, and it did take me to the main Yahoo Fiance page after clicking on convert. However, after looking through my portfolios, I noticed it did create a transaction portfolio. If you check your portfolio list, I'm sure you'll notice this as well.

Remember, the new transaction portfolio keeps the name of the original converted portfolio. The portfolio that you converted is now named "Portfolio name (old)."

I hope I have helped. If for some reason it's not converting for you, please contact our Customer Care team at:

How do you add "Cash" holdings to the New portfolio? (Used to be $$cash)?

Simple answer appears to be that you can't. My total is still correct, even though the portfolio is not displaying $$cash lines. Perhaps someone should ask the question of where we can go now to get a good portfolio. I'd like to see that answer. I'd move in a heartbeat.

There was a time when $$cash was the single most important feature separating the Yahoo portfolio from Google. Now Google has added the feature and Yahoo has messed it up. Why? I suspect Yahoo has let the good people go -- perhaps to Google? I also hate that I cannot arrange the order of the entries. You should be able to have multiple cash lines and control the order. Admittedly the interface was a bit clunky, but it was at least able to do what is really needed. Also have you notice that the ETFs keep disappearing. Hard to use a portfolio when there are this many problems.

What I find completely inexcusable is these guys just dumped this on us and aren't pulling it back after significant complaints. There WAS a time Yahoo would let you try a new option and collect opinions before just plopping it out there. Hopefully someone at corporate will take notice and lop a few heads.

How do I add an option position to the portfolio in Yahoo Finance's "My Portfolio"?

Hi DME -

You will just need to add in the option ticker as you would a standard stock. For example, add in "YHOO130420C00005000", just as you would "YHOO".

At this time, the options contract multiplier (100x) is not applied on the "Transactions" page of a portfolio. This means that the "Amount" on the "Transactions" page will appear to be less than the actual transaction. It also means that options contracts do not properly credit/debit a portfolio's cash line because "Amount" is tied to the $$CASH value.

This may affect a portfolio's cost basis or gain/loss before and after an options transaction has been added to the portfolio.

Our engineering staff is aware of the issue. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimate for when this will be resolved.

Hope this helps!

We appreciate you choosing to use Yahoo!

Which is the best portfolio tracker tool for Indian investors? A tool that had both mobile app & website, a tool which can track stocks, mutual funds, Sips, fixed deposits etc.?

After trying so many apps I built my own app to track my portfolio :)Why did i do that? what was missing in other free apps !Well for the starter i don’t want to share my financial data with third party service providers. Lately i started getting many suggestion SMS and mails based on my portfolio (especially from moneycontrol) which i hated that.Next the money control app is not really an app, it is just a web client opening inside android app, its an outdated idea.money control web has a bug with year wise transaction report, when u want to filter by profile id it goes haywire and the scrolling never works (tested in latest chrome)Apps are crowded with other unnecessary details and adds. I do not want an app to read about technicals, All i wanted was a lightweight app to keep track of my portfolio. For low coverage areas bandwidth is a major concern. One more thing missing in many portfolio apps was stock watch-list alert. Like when a stock goes up or down by certain percentage i would like to be notified, so that i do buy/sell stocks.Tracking dividends received and upcoming expected dividend for certain stocks were missing in portfolio apps. At-least tracking dividend received should have been available. The above things drove me to build my own app with all the things i wanted. I can keep my data completely offline , to update the current value i just send the scrip code to the server to retrieve the current price and all the calculations are done in app.Additionally i have added secure entry option, you configure your own secure pin to enter the app securely. it can be turned on/off from settings. Backup / Restore / Factory Reset options added to backup data and restore it later or if you change the device you can copy the backup file to new device and restore it on new device. You can download it for free from playstore here Stocks Portfolio - Android Apps on Google PlayThe app can support any international market, if your country / exchange / stocks are not listed in the app, please feel free to write me back. I can add the data and release updated version of app for you.Currently working on creating widget page to list holding and alerts on home screen as optional widgets.
