How Can I Get Motivated To Study

How can I get motivated to study?

Make a list of all the good stuff that will happen if you study. Here are a few to start you off:

- You'll get the subjects easier, which will leave more time for fun.

- Your parents will be happy, which could mean rewards depending on whether your folks award them.

- You will be able to get into a good college.

- If you study REALLY hard, you might get into the college of your dreams.

- You will be able to get a good job. Many kids who make fun of the class nerd end up working for them after graduating.

- You will be able to help your own kids ace their homework, and they won't continue the cycle of struggling in the subjects you had a hard time with, too.

- Knowledge is power :D

Make a study plan for the next 2 weeks. In a notebook, dedicate one page to each day (weekends too). Divide your studying evenly among the 14 days. (Your finals are in 2 weeks now! You don't have time for hanging out on the weekends!) For example:
Monday: Read 10 chapters of English, 12 chapters of Science, and 10 chapters of Soc.Studies.
Tuesday: Draft essay for English. Read 5 more chapters of English, 12 chapters of math, and do practice problems. 8 chapters of Spanish.
Wednesday: Continue working on English essay, spell-checking as you go along. Make flashcards for the science and math formulas and vocabulary words and study them. Writing them down and saying them out loud will help cement them in your brain.
Thursday: Finish up English essay. Final edit, spell-check, and word count. Study flashcards for science and math. 10 chapters of whatever subject you haven't covered yet.

And so on.... review the flashcards every day!
Don't forget to take a short break every now and then to refresh your mind and keep you from getting too stressed or overwhelmed.

The day before finals:
Review flashcards. Re-read all chapters dealing with stuff you had a hard time with. Search on the internet (Google) for explanations of the material. Print these out, and highlight important concepts. (You can do this earlier in the week, too.) Add these concepts to your flashcard stockpile.
Bring the flashcard with you to the exams, and study them until the very last minute.

Good luck!

I cant get motivated to study....................why?

Well, this is so little time, but I can help you here, with some steps.
1) Plan ahead. If you have a study hall, do as much of it there as possible. The more you do when you are in class, the less you will have to do at home. Try to do it in class if time is provided and at lunch, or any other spare time you might have. Also, be sure to put the hardest class' revision at the top of your list to do.
2) Promise yourself a reward for finishing the dreadful revision, anything that you would find enjoyable and doable after you finish. However, don't use food as a reward! Save a special magazine to read when homework is done or make plans to talk with a friend on the phone as soon as both of you have completed your personal assignments.
3) Break it up. Take regular breaks. Set a timer; take at most 10 minutes of break for each hour you study. A fried brain absorbs little information. Get up, stretch, and move around...and reward yourself for what you've accomplished so far.Think of the consequences. What will happen if you don't do your revision? Scary huh :)
4) Make a chart. Draw two small seeds. One chose to work hard and grow tall to get sunlight. The other slacked off. The one that got sunlight was amazing and everyone noticed it and watered it. They thought the other one was useless and moved it away to a dump. Where do you want to end up? Admired by everyone or in a dump?
5) Find a place with less distraction. Set up your special study place. No friends, television, or other potential distractions should be present. Your homework place should also have a hard surface, like a table, to write on. If you need to do most or all of your revision on a computer, avoid chat programs, irrelevant sites... etc.
6) Find a revision partner. Make sure this person isn't one of your crazy friends who'll distract you. Find someone to sit with who is quiet and focused. This will help you feel comfortable working, because someone else is working along with you. Just be sure not to end up talking more than working.
7) Listen to some quiet music. Studies show that if you listen to music while you work, you get higher scores. Just pick a quiet song that you don't know (so you don't get caught up in the music) and start working!

What are good ways to motivate self-study?

When I have to study, I always do 2 things.I think how satisfying is to receive good grades.I set a price for myself.I love to receive good grades. It makes me fell well. I first discovered this a couple of years ago. It was a rainy day and the TV wasn’t working, so I studied for the history test.I studied for 2–3 hours. The day later I was in class for the test. We I received it and read the question’s, I felt like “Hey, I know the answer of this, I also know the answer for this, and this, and this. I AM A GENIUS”. I took the test and I wrote something like 5 pages of answer.I felt happy. The week later, I received it back. There was a big 6 (here the marks goes from 1 to 6) on it. I was so happy. Best in the class. From then, I always study. When I have to study some boring stuff like Italian (we speak Italian here) I always set a price.Me: Okay Nico, if you finish your Italian homework, you can watch tonights football game.Myself: Okay, let’s go.I always think this but the reality is different.Me: Nico, if you finish your Italian homework, you can play Zelda.Myself: Ok, let’s do it.Me: Good boy.*after 5 minutes*Myself: Fuck, Italian sucks, is so boring, I play Zelda.Me: No, you don’t, you promised it to me.Myself: Fuck you, you can do it!Myself: Oh, you are me. Fuck, I have to do those homework.*after five seconds*Myself: Fuck this Italian, Zelda has to be saved, come on Link, let’s save her.Me: Nerd…

What would be the best way to keep yourself motivated to study when living alone nearly 24/7?

I live with my parents but suffering from depression. I feel alone and lonely most of the times. I'm telling you what is helping me in focusing on my studies. 1. Write down your aim on a paper or your personal diary. I have made a personal diary (I'll upload it's pic tomorrow since Quora doesn't have any option to upload a pic via cellphone.) I have wrote down all of my dreams, passion and goals that I love. It's helping me. I tick off each one from the list when I accomplish it.2. Don't study when you don't feel like studying. I used to get more depressed and freak out when I found my mind wandering instead of focusing on my studies, it's just your brain telling you that you need break. 3. Read books other than your school/college books. I started reading novels and self help books since 3 years. Give 30 minutes daily to read something positive.4. If you're Indian and understand Hindi then I recommend you to subscribe Sandeep Maheshwari 's channel and listen his motivational talks. His seminars are free. He is going to upload a motivational video for students on 4th November, do check it out. 5. Do what you love and be what you want, not what others want you to do or be.EDIT: (I don't know how to delete one of the pic after uploading, I mistakenly uploaded two pics and can't see delete option on quora) Here is the pic of my diary-
