How Can I Make My Macbook Pro 2009 Fast

Macbook Pro 13 vs 15?

Soo, I need a new laptop because my current dell inspiron 1545 (2009) is falling apart and i need a lot of things replaced like the battery, a new ac adapter, and a lot of other stuff. So i'd like to make the switch to mac, Please dont say PC's are cheaper and better. I've decided on the macbook pro and ive been going back and forth with 13 and 15. I just don't know what to get. I'm a high school student, and I pay for everything I want myself. This mac is going to be used for everyday computing and minor video editing. I'm so used to my dell's 15 inch screen, so i keep reconsidering the 15 inch. Though, when i go to college in 3 years, I don't want to buy a new smaller laptop if the 15 inch is in good condition, so should i get the more portable 13 inch? or get the bigger, nicer 15 inch?

Thanks

How long will my macbook pro last?

Congrats! You just bought one of the top laptops on the market. The 8GB of RAM combined with the Intel Core i7 Processor will help the laptop run smoothly while prolonging its lifetime. Assuming nothing major happens to it, such as an accidental drop or water spill, it will easily last you 5 years.

Hope I helped.

Slow Macbook Pro 2011.?

Oh, many answers say get an SSD. Heck yeah, but one main reason a new drive makes a computer faster is the old drive may have been full or had file system errors. An SSD costs a lot, so if you want to start spending money, consider a new MacBook with PCIe-based flash storage. That will be 2.4 times faster than a SATA SSD! All you need is money, or just see if this old MacBook that you have now can be rejuvenated for free. My Mid 2010 model takes less than two seconds to open System Preferences, and that's with the original old-school hard drive!

I don't know enough about this "slow", such as was it ever faster? If it was always a dog, make a backup of important stuff, erase, and reinstall.

If it was fast one year ago and has become much slower, take care of the two most likely suspects....

Check for full drive:
– In a Finder window, select the startup disk (usually called "Macintosh HD").
– Press command I (like "Info").
– Take note of "capacity" and "Available". It needs 10% available space.

If the available space is enough, repair file system errors:

– Disconnect everything, except power adapter.
– Restart while holding command and R keys for 45 seconds.
– Select "Disk Utility".
– Select "Macintosh HD" and the "First Aid" tab.
– Click "Repair Disk" (NOT “Permissions”).
– If it finds any problem, repair again.

If that is also perfect, and it is still slow, reinstall OS X. NOTE: No files are erased by reinstalling.

By the way Google Chrome is not well designed – it takes up more than four times the drive space as Safari (140MB compared with 30MB) and uses six times the memory as Safari. Yikes! If you are not in love with Giggle Chrime, fahget aboudit.

Firmware updates for MacBook Pro 2009?

If not listed in Apple Software Update you will have to manually download it from the Apple website.

EFI Firmware update 1.5.1: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL76

NOTICE: Apple does not provide any support if you decide to install a faster HDD or SSD to take advantage of the new firmware.

Should i trade my 2010 macbook pro for a 2009 alienware m11rx1?

Nope. Alienware computers don't have a very long lifespan, and one that's 3 years old is lucky to still be around.

Is there a reason you don't just install Windows using Boot Camp on the Mac? And if you game using Steam, they're porting games like mad to Mac and Linux because their CEO has decided Windows 8 will kill gaming.
