How Can I See My Philhealth Contribution

I want to continue paying my Philhealth contribution, what will i do?

PhilHealth costs P100 per month, per family, usually paid every three months at a participating bank (e.g., MetroBank, United Coconut Planters Bank, etc.) or to the PhilHealth representative who will have office hours at the local office or at the local Municipal Hall (Municipio) or at the Municipio of the closest big town or city.

The first three months are not covered, but after that you are covered for the following three months as long as you make the regular payments. You must pay by about the middle of the third month of each period to maintain your coverage. For example, if your first payment was in early December, that was your initial payment, and you have been covered since the beginning of January. Your next payment would be due during the first half of March, the next one during the first half of June, and so on every three months.

PhilHealth coverage, which is only for hospital stays greater than 24 hours, has limits in the coverage for each type of service, so if you go to a private hospital, you will pay much more than if you use the municipal hospital. You're better to get prescription drugs "in-house", i.e., at the hospital pharmacy (if the drugs are available there). If you use an outside pharmacy, you must keep your receipts and submit them to PhilHealth for reimbursement. Outside food is not covered at all.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I had two major surgeries while in the Philippines, and both went well.

Check with your employer. You would apply for your PIN through your employer.

Per the PhilHealth web site:

For newly hired employees without PIN yet:
- Fill out PhilHealth Membership Registration Form
- Attach clear copy of supporting documents for qualified dependents declared
- Submit to the HR Department for them to forward the above documents to PhilHealth together with Er2 Form (Report of Employee-Members).
- After processing, PhilHealth will send the member, through the employer, his/her PhilHealth Identification Number or PIN and a copy of the Member Data Record

The PIN is for lifetime use and need not be changed. PhilHealth advises members and employers that the number should be kept within reach preferably in the cellphone to enable the member to use it anytime the need arises.

Is there free healthcare in the Philippines?

Well for me there are a lot of free healthcare in the Philippines. You just need to know the ins and outs on how to get assistance. Philhealth is not a reliable source of free healthcare. It is not tecnically free since you are still paying a small amount from your salary to the government each month. So it is not really free. If you really want free healthcare assistance you can always go to PCSO. They usually give assistance for healthcare without spending anything, you just need to a lot more time and patience as there is also a lot of people trying to avail this. Being a voter of certain City can also give you free healthcare, a classic example for this is in Makati. Citizens in makati will be given a yellow card if they are a voter within the city of Makati and they are are treated for free in Makati’s very own hospital OSMAK which is short for Ospital ng Makati. In other cities usually offers cash assistance just make sure you are registered voter if not, you can’t avail any benefits from the city.
