How come my screen blacks out when my finger goes near the front camera?

If this occours mainly during a call, then it happens thanks to the proximity sensor which is commonly located near the front camera. This sensor is basically made up by two electronic components which tasks are different: an infrared LED constantly emits a signal, whenever it gets partially reflected by an approaching finger (or whatever non-seethrough object) a receiver diode picks up those reflected signals. The response of the control unit in the phone is to turn off the screen in order to prevent the cheek to click any buttons affecting thus the call!

Can you detect if your call being recorded by apps?

In my old phone I had Automatic Call Recorder installed and if I was calling someone special or waiting for some important call then I would switch on the automatic option. It always recorded without any beep, or delay or any sign, which would have made the person on the other side to know that. Then after the end of call, I would switch this feature off to avoid unnecessarily recording of the general & regular calls. There was not even a single instance of any detection from anyone.Now, the new phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it has the option of recording on the call screen itself, no need of any other app or anything, anytime during the call you can press record and it will do that without a single noise or beep. Very easy and very handy. Here is the screen shot of it.So, No, you can't detect if your call is being recorded at the other end or not.Hope it helps.
