How Can People Eat Meat Knowing What Is It

Why do people eat meat?

Because humans are omnivorous animals, it was part of our evolutionary development that we had to take advantage of all food sources available to grow and survive. Another theory also suggests that it was this consumption of high protein meat and fish that led to our advanced brain power and the thinking man. Although you may see eating meat as barbaric and a jailable offence, you are a very small minority of a privelaged few in a very specific point in time, if you had been born even a hundred years ago it would have been unthinkable to turn down a luxury item such as meat for dinner. Even if you lived in a developing nation you wouldn't turn down a chicken or goat if it was offered to you. Stop being so first world and get over yourself, there are far too many problems on this earth with people murdering each other to begin tackling the morality of our food. As long as the animals are killed in a humane process I see no problem.

Did pre flood people eat meat?

Genesis 4

1 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.

2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.

Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.

FLOCKS WOULD HAVE BEEN KEPT FOR MEAT, NOT JUST MILK, FLEECE AND HIDES.

TO JENNIFER N:

"Y sure they did! This is why they brought so many animals aboard. Two of each specie were for procreation, the extra's were for food. They only brought two of the cloven footed critters aboard.

Remember, the Bible says they went onboard two by two, not two of each kind."

THE CLOVEN-FOOTED ANIMALS ARE THE CLEAN ONES. ALTHOUGH THEY WENT ON TWO BY TWO THERE WERE ONLY TWO OF EACH OF THE UNCLEAN ONES.

Genesis 7

2 Take with you SEVEN of every kind of CLEAN animal, a male and its mate, and TWO OF every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,

3 and also SEVEN of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

How do people eat meat meat? Even knowing this:?

"All livestock sectors create more pollution than all the cars, trucks, planes, trains, and ships in the world. They also create the largest sources of carbon dioxide and the single largetst sours of both methane and nitrous oxide emissions. Nitrous oxide is considerably more potent as a green house gas than carbon dioxide."

That's funny. According to my research, industry, transportation and power stations all individually contribute more greenhouse gasses than agriculture.

Remember that the average homeowner puts more fertilizer and pesticides on their lawn per square foot than the average farmer.

Dietary supplements like vitamins are unnatural and the human body doesn't absorb the nutrients as well as it would from a natural food source. While we're talking about vitamins, let's talk about all the vitamin plants in China that were shut down before the Olympics because of the amount of pollution created by the manufacturing process.

I guess vegetarians aren't innocent, either.

By the way, "factory farm" is a political term (much like "partial-birth abortion") that was created by zealots like you who really don't understand the agriculture and food industry in the US. The correct term is "Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation," but really all it takes to be considered a small, medium or large CAFO is the number of animals you have. It has no relationship to the "concentration" of the animals or any relationship to the housing conditions. Free range farms with thousands of acres can be considered CAFOs if they have enough animals. Organic farms can be CAFOs if large enough.

How can people possibly eat meat knowing animals go through immense suffering in its production process?

um, I raise and slaughter my own sheep and sell meat. They sure aren’t suffering. They have all their food, water and shelter provided to them with little to no effort on their part. Sometimes they have to walk and harvest the grass themselves. Even when the weather is bad or there is a blizzard their needs are met before ours are. They are inspected at least twice a day and any injury or illness is treated immediately with appropriate medicines and special care as required. If they have problems giving birth there is someone there ready to make sure mother and lambs are fine and healthy. They have 24 hour guardians in the form of livestock protection dogs keeping them safe from the coyotes, bears, mountain lions, domestic dogs and other predators that would try to kill or injure them. They are kept together in appropriate size social groups so that they can interact normally with others of their species. On their final trip to the plate they are selected a month in advance and those sheep are put together so that they are with companions they know, not strangers. I never take mixed sex groups but always an entire trailer of the same sex to avoid any stress. They are loaded into the trailer which is roomy enough for them all to lie down in. We load the night before so that they are not stressed on the day of slaughter. They are kept on full feed and water right up until they walk off the trailer into the kill pen. I have scheduled the date 12–18 months in advance and I have arranged it so that our sheep come in, walk off the trailer and are immediately processed, again to avoid the stress of standing around.I’ve been on the kill floor when our sheep are being processed. Frequently they lie down and are chewing their cuds right up until the shot direct to the brain that kills them. They are not chased, bitten, or eaten while still alive like wild animals. So where is the suffering in this scenario?

How can someone stomach meat knowing that it's dead flesh?

Well everything we eat is generally dead with the exception of products such as dairy and eggs since unfertilized eggs are not viable for life. Just think really only so called meat eaters and vegetarians actually eat something that was not originally living, all other foods at one time were so a vegan for example eats a diet solely of the dead. As for myself I have seen butchering in process and even, to a small degree, assisted so I am well aware of meat and where it is from and no, it does not bother me any more than it bothers the lion when it takes down it's prey. It is all a part of life and those that deny it deny the very essence of the world around us.

How can I eat meat without my parents knowing?

I can't say what to do on how to eat meat but Phil is dead wrong. it's not a sin to eat meat. Jesus ate meat. Phil's just changing the bible to use his selfish desires and God doesn't like that.

Adam and Eve would now die. Their bodies no longer perfect. Built in aging, deterioration, defectiveness, allergies, disease, sickness and death. I.Genesis 3:18 "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat plants of the field''

God broadens the menu. Gives permission to eat herbs, foods without seeds in them: leaf, root and tuber vegetables. (like lettuce, cabbage, kale, spinach, carrots, parsnips, beets, etc.

After the Great Flood, God tells Noah, "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it." Genesis 9:3,4 God gives permission to eat animal meat but with a restriction. What about sea creatures, birds and insects?

"Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales... Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you." Leviticus 11:9,12. Scavengers (shrimp, oysters, etc.) collect the waste and toxins from the bottom of the sea.

Birds which are scavengers are not to be eaten Leviticus 11:13-18. Vultures, crows Insects which may be eaten or may not be eaten are listed. Leviticus 20-23: Grasshoppers are ok for food! "The Israelites started crying again and said, 'If only we had meat to eat! Remember all the free fish we ate in Egypt and the cucumbers, watermelons, leeks, onions, and garlic we had? But now we've lost our appetite! Everywhere we look there is nothing but manna!" Numbers 11:5,6.

Why don’t more people sous vide their meat? Don’t they know that it’s easy and cheap?

People have a real issue with bags of food in water.I’ve been doing it for about 5 years now and it never ceases to amaze me how much people don’t understand about it. I think I’ve sold more Sous Vide’ to people than anyone I’ve met. Everyone loses their mind when they taste something that’s cooked right, Sous Vide Style… It’s all about seasoning/finishing in that dept. The whole boiling meat in a bag is all people see, so it’s understandable..When I first saw the process, I thought it was a bit lazy and far fetched.I’ve learned more about cooking/styles/types in the last 5 years than I did in most my years in professional kitchens. Sous Vide is alien to that sort of environment for the most part, so you have to start basic and get more and more seasoned as you go.It’s not easy tho… you have to learn how to marinade properly, clean meats, finish with either a broiler or skillet. How to handle meats by temp. How to handle seafood, especially after being cooked. The multiple ways to prep for a good sousvide, the patience when it comes to cooking and finding good recipes…It’s not just for meat tho…I wouldn't really suggest cooking hard vegetables without sauteing them first, but things like Soups and Chili’s? It’s epic and really easy. Chicken Soup made sous vide is divine. Once you start to wander the spectrum, you find out a lot about other things you’re able to cook in this style. So, you learn a lot about soups as well, once you really get around to difference ways to cook food in this style. I really love beans/lentils cooked in a good sauce. You’re really only held back by your own ignorance… once you open a cookbook on Sous Vide, you really see it’s nothing like you’d expect. I’ll take a steak in a plastic bag over an overcooked grilled steak any day.Word of caution by the way.. If you cook poor quality/over processed meats Sous Vide style, you will not have a good time. Avoid Bagged Frozen Chicken/Any meat really and any of the pre “Boxed Burgers” as they are the two I will not allow in my tank. They both leech out the chemicals/smoke flavor and look horrible to serve, usually dyed green or olive black. For those, stick to some other way of cooking them, or avoid them all together.

What is a person that eats meat called?

Since we live in a world where the default IS for a person to eat meat, I’d say that they are called just people.I mean, what is the use for a term to describe (statistically speaking) practically every person alive? Just for the minorities to “label” them with?I’m a vegetarian. I am the exception to the rule. Vegans, even more. So we get cool names to use. It is how it works with any minority. But I’m not inclined to call 99% of the people I know by a special “name” (omnivorous, meat-eaters, carnivores, whatever - it feels weird). They are just people. Since I’m the weird one, I do deserve a special label.“Oh, Christian? That vegetarian dude? Yeah, I know him.”Try to invert this situation and see how ridiculous it feels.

Religions that do not eat meat?

Some hindus... really depends, most religions really don't ban them out right - I know a hindu that was ordered by her Dr to eat more animal protein and it was all and good with the temple. It is more of a guideline or something to strive for than an out right ban from what I understand of Buddhists and Hindus...

PS Taoist do not ban meat, that I know for sure.

Is it inhumane to eat meat?

Not at all.Let’s take chickens as an example. There are only a few choices possible in the big picture:All humans stop eating chickens, stop raising them, and ensure that chickens go extinct, never again to scratch in the dirt, swallow a worm or crow at dawn.We continue to raise chickens but don’t eat them. We divert a substantial portion of crops raised to these chickens (about 1500 lbs of feed per bird if they die of natural causes at 3 years, 3000 lbs if they live to 6 years) but we don’t eat their meat or eggs, we don’t use their feathers. We refuse to euthanize them when they develop joint problems and can’t walk, or are maimed by other chickens or other animals, which is common when chickens aren’t individually caged. When they die, we bury the chickens. We raise chickens from chicks then release them into the wild where they are hunted and killed by wild animals, and/or die of disease and parasites. We raise chickens in massive factory farms and sell their meat and eggs wrapped in sanitized plastic in supermarkets. We raise chickens humanely in backyard pens, family farms, and humane commercial chicken farms, where they are allowed to live low stress lives, receive good care and food regularly, see the sun, scratch in the dirt, and are made into soup and Sunday dinner before they can get excessively old and in pain, lame, sick or otherwise feeble.I’ve raised chickens; at all points, they were raised humanely and they were killed humanely. I choose option 5; EVERY one of the alternatives is worse for the chickens. The only way you can stop chickens from dying is to stop them from living (option 1), and the ONLY humane death a chicken will ever know is at the hand of someone who has lovingly cared for it. Even PETA acknowledges that killing is a necessary part of raising ANY kind of animal. Some people merely turn their eyes and call it “having my dog put to sleep by the vet.” It’s not sleep for the dog, it’s not sleep for the chicken. If you love chickens, raising them, eating eggs, AND humanely killing and eating chicken can all be humane expressions of that love.
