How Come Some People Are More Motivated To Achieve Things Than Others

Why are some people more motivated to succeed than others?

Regardless of socio-economic status, there are rich (or upper-middle class) and poor people who are motivated to succeed and secure a respected career for themselves and there are others who don't have the motivation. What is it about the motivated people that makes them go after their goals aggressively, while others sit around and not do anything to improve their lives.

Why do some people excel in EVERYTHING they do? High IQ? Motivation?

Why do some people seem to do well in all aspects of life? For example: I went to K-12 with a girl who was great at everything. She was a straight A student, amazing artist, at the top of every class from creative writing to mathematics, she was a favorite of all the teachers, very popular with the other classmates, funny, charismatic, etc. I know no one's perfect, but if there was such a thing... THIS GIRL WOULD BE IT.

She's won countless awards and achievements in high school, went on to attend a prestigious college, got an internship at the White House, and went right to Proctor and Gamble after graduating. Everyone who encounters her is completely enamored with this girl. And she's not one of those anti-social nerds who does nothing but study- she's a great conversationalist... I could go on and on, but the point is that this girl excels in everything she does.

What is the difference between people like this, and us everyday folks who only wish we could be so successful??

Why are some people better than others?

I think it's very admirable that you're highly motivated. It could be, in fact, that if not for people being more successful than you, you might have less motivation. So these people are actually doing you a favor by keeping you on your toes. You may not be as good as they are at certain things now, but with your work ethic, you have a good shot at making that happen. And remember, “best” is a moving target. What is best among your peers now will be very different when you meet new peers at college or graduate school. Some people might tell you to never compare yourself with others, but I'm not sure I'd agree in your case. When you are gifted with such competitive drive it would be a shame to waste it. It will push you to the limits of your capabilities and open up new doors of opportunity for you. You will live an interesting life. Just make sure you try to get some enjoyment out of the process. However, you won't ever be perfect by definition. I'm sure you already know that. That's like trying to run towards infinity. But you can strive for perfection and be the best you can be.One thing to consider is that maybe you can't be the best at everything, but there are some things where you can excel. Focusing on those strengths will maximize efficiency because you won't spend energy on other pursuits.I think you will be very successful in life. That natural competitive drive and motivation is both your enemy and your friend. It's your enemy because you might never be satisfied, and it's your friend for the very same reason.I think that just having this quality alone—irrespective of your success—is a very admirable attribute. Consider yourself very lucky.

What do you think about motivation?

I think motivation has a lot to do with what you think is important, for example if I think helping people is important I may be motivated to help out at a local charity. I think every action has a motivation, if a brother antagonizes his sister it may be because he was bored, the motivation was something to do. Well I used to want to be a lawyer because it made good money, but now I would like to be a lyricist because I enjoy writing. Well many factors can come into play, if certain drugs are being done motivation can be lost severely, also because some people don't like change and are less-motivated to do things because of it. We can learn to be more motivated, if we learn that doing our homework gets us jobs for opportunities in life which can lead to financial success and happiness, plus a smart husband/wife we are probably more motivated to do our homework. I am unsure of the last one.
I hope I helped :)
