How Did Helots Allow Spartan Society To Fous On War

How did helots allow Spartan society to focus on war?

A.They helped train the children to become soldiers.
B.They were usually in front during battles, making survival of other soldiers more likely.
C.They served as messengers on the battlefield.
D.They did the farming so citizens could focus on training for war.

Why did a large helot population emerge in Spartan society?

Because the Spartans conquered Messenia in the 8th-7th century BC.

How did helots allow spartan society to fous on war?

The helots did almost all of the manual labor, and in fact much of the intellectual labor like teaching, and that permitted the Spartans to devout all their energies to physical training for combat.
They had an interesting relationship with the Spartans. Because they in fact outnumbered Spartan citizens, and because Spartan law forbid murder (even of slaves), the Spartans would periodically declare "war" on the helots. Many adult males and a select number of childbearing age females would be killed, bringing the population of helots back to a manageable number. Though no documentation exists, it may also have been a useful tool for the Spartans to toughen their newer recruits, as killing an unarmed civilian--since of course the helots weren't armed for the "war"--is arguably the hardest part of a soldier's job. New recruits could be inured to this through a few practice sessions on unarmed helots.
Spartan men would occassionally father children by helot women. The sons could be brought into Spartan society as soldiers; the daughters were generally disposed by infanticide.

Why were the Spartans famous?

Because no other society has ever based its culture so completely around its army, though a few have come close. The entire purpose of Spartan society was to support its elite military hoplites. Their main duty in turn was to terrorize the helots that provided the labor that fed the city state. From childhood until they were adults the boys were trained in a variety of martial arts, as well as survival techniques and how to forage off the land. As adults they went into military barracks, where they remained until at least age 30. Only then, as proven soldiers, were they allowed to marry.
The women were not wilting willows either. They faced and accepted the fact that if an infant appeared feeble or deformed, that their baby would be killed. That their husbands would be gone much of the time, and that their boy children might still be killed in the brutal training. The women were encouraged to engage in exercise, and were proud to participate in what amounted to a eugenics program. It's said that Spartan men would even ask a male friend to father a child on their wife, if the husband was unable to do so. And Spartan women had a reputation for "looseness", probably based on their willingness to have sex if a man seemed to be a good physical specimen.
Ultimately, their social rigidity doomed the Spartans. While superb warriors, they spurned the missile weapons that make up an important part of any army then. They failed to adapt their formations and tactics, while their enemies did. Eventually, the Spartan reputation for invincibility was destroyed and they faded from history.

How was daily life in ancient sparta ?

Much much much more greater than today society.

First off all the only thing spartan precious was the luxury of being free.
Do were very much enjoying their training and war for them was a way of showing off, in the good sense.
Is true that children were being punished but never beated, and punishment was a part of their training it wasn't like today were some father/mother punish their children, it was much more like ,,today you'll get a beating it is part of the training". Just remember that the children were staying with their mother until 7, and the mother had the mission to be sure the kid will never get scared untill that age, so you must understand the she didn't punish him or amend him in any way.

Let me give you just one example why they were love their life, and believe me I know many many more.

When a rich servent of the Persian king asked two Spartans why would they not befriend the Persian kind who rewards his friends as they were men of merit, if they only submit to him, he was sure the king would give them Greece to govern. This was thei reply:
,,A slave's life is all you understand, you know nothing of freedom. For if you did, you have encouraged us to fight on, not only with our spear, but with everything we have."
and the other one
,,We bow down before no man.!"

There is no shame in poverty. He who gives his utmost for his goal is a noble person.

A Spartan is anyone who choses virtue and honesty as his life paths. Only the strong and the free afford such a luxury. As for the rest ask yourself: What is life without freedom?
Untill the world really understand that the one and only price one has to pay to be free is to fight back!

as to answer your question,
A spartan boy untill 21 was in the army, then he finished his training and was need only to train everyday just 4 hours the rest of the day thei left it for philosophy. They didn't work the field, they were worriors.
As for the women, they need to take care of house and children or babies. Women were gouverning the house, as one stranger asked a spartan woman
Why do spartan woman are the only ones who rule man?
and the woman said
Because spartan woman are the only ones who born MAN!
