1. Well this one is a little bit vague (I think you missing data in the question), but... Due to the fact that people have different preferences say pork over beef which ceteris paribus means the demand would be equally as great. Now an inferior good, say beans which is cheaper would work as a substitution for people who consume more, or have less means to consume. 2. The reason that candy bars and pop simply dispense one rather than completely opening up like a newspaper rack is that people would be more inclined to take more than one candy bar, based on hunger and storage for future hunger, rather than a newspaper which is identical an offer very litttle increase in utility. The words do not change and no real gain in incurred due to taking more than one newspaper (except maybe as kindling).

Why is it called the history channel anymore?
I don't know about the US but the uk version of the american channel the history channel is filled with shows like pawn stars, swamp people, storage wars, hardcore pawn etc. I know these shows might get better ratings than a show about maybe Napoleon or World War 2 but it is ridiculous to call it the history channel if you don't show shows like that. Its also kind of sad that the channel doesn't value historical shows as first preference.
