Can I use Roku with my iPhone hotspot?
Though I've never done that, your WiFi hotspot should be able to handle that. As a caveat, however, you have to realize the huge amount of data you'd be streaming. Although your phone service says, “unlimited,” they may throttle you back to something unusable after 20gb or so. I have 5 bedrooms with Roku in all of them. The average usage here with an average watch time per month at just under 2 hours a day per TV is around 185Gb per month according to my usage meter on my router. There is a small amount of usage through computers, but before I got Roku the total usage was under 18Gb per month. So, be advised that you may get a few days of TV then it could be too slow to be useful. Check with your carrier. The other possibility is that the ports for some video services could be blocked by the carrier by default. Seen it happen with some VoIP services, though they're not supposed to do that. If that were the case, you just have to let them know to unblock any closed ports that might be involved in delivering the Roku video to you. Don't this would happen, but you never know.

If your Android device is higher than 4.0, then if you you have a TV, Blu-ray player or Console that supports Screen Mirroring, you can use Wifi Direct to mirror it to your bigger screen. Since the screen mirroring protocol is different for each receiver, then you will need to read the documentation for it. These can usually be found on the website of the device manufacturer.
