Why do people seem to dislike people who are quiet/introverted/awkward? Especially in the workplace?
These three personality traits don't necessarily go together.Quiet: a person that don't lose his composure and make other people relaxing feelings.Introvert: a person who recover energies by staying alone. Introverts mostly like other people but need some alone time to recover the energies drained by staying with others.Awkward: a person who doesn't understand very well social signals and acts in ways that make other people feeling uncomfortable.Whether an introvert is often quiet, a quiet person is not necessarily an introvert. An awkward person can be every combination possible of introvert, extrovert, quiet or very active. A very active awkward extrovert is even worse than a quiet awkward introvert, I can't possibly imagine anybody who can like that :)Keep in mind that the only negative trait of the three is awkward. An awkward person is very difficult to like. He/she can have a very good heart and can be very intelligent but who has to deal with him/her has to stand all the awkwardness and weirdness in body language and way to speak. It can be really energy draining. That doesn't mean that the awkward person is screwed for life. First of all you need to have a clear feedback to understand what are the traits that set you apart from the others and from there you can start to work (I used you in general, not directly to the OP). There is excellent literature that can help to become very likeable people. It doesn't mean changing your values and your personality, just improve your communication skills.A quiet introvert person on the other hand can be incredibly charming and likeable, both in the working and social relationship and love.
How do I deal when my coworkers all hate me?
I work in a small office. My coworkers -3 - all hate me. I have done nothing to them and tried my best to be personable, nice, and friendly --- yet still they don't like me. Its partially because I stood up for myself and set a very strong boundary with my boss as to what work I could handle. I recently became ill and I just cannot accomplish in a day what my coworkers did when they had this position.... my boss offered the work to my coworkers paid OVERTIME if they wanted to do it - otherwise it would take me a while to complete it..... Instead of being grateful for the opportunity to make extra money in this economy, they are resentful. Its not like it even affects them -- and we are union so they don't even have to take the overtime.... They do things like exclude me in conversations, whey they go buy food and snacks, etc. talk about my situatino in a passive aggressive way --- really loudly so I will hear it. It hurts my feelings, it is rude, and its such a small office that its obvious. I tried to be direct and ask them, what I could do and what I have done to offend them, and they shake their head, and LIE, acting passive aggressive, childish, and tell me that nothing is wrong. I have heard that the minute I walk away, that they are gossiping about me.... They insinuate that I am lazy....when the ironic thing is that they are the types to push the responsibility off on someone else, make personal phone calls all day, slack,etc. I don't do ANY of that....so I feel really amazed that they have the nerve to do this. How do I handle this? Just give up and let them hate me? Thank you.

ok i am absolutly INLOVE with dds! i buy absolutly everthing there! I cant not stand the job that i work at right now!! HATE IT!! I work about 6,7,or 8 hrs every other day. we open at 9 and close at 8 and i make 9 dollars an hr. I have been working retail for about a year in a half now. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight about working at DDs or Ross! 1)how much is the hrly pay (is there a chance i can start off at 9 since i make 9 now and i have prior experience) 2) what are the employee discounts? 3) what is the latest you stay at night to clean up? 4) What are the ppl u work with like? 5) Do you work christmas eve, christmas, thanksgiving, new years eve...etc..? 6) What are some of the duties you have as a cashier.....what are the different positions for a female? if i work at Ross do i get discounts at dds because they are sister stores? ANY INSIGHT PLZ!

Maybe coz 365 days of the year they appear the be PMSing which is really hard for the rest of us to deal with. Especially the male crabs lol
