In California, at what age can a child sit in the front seat?

California law requires a child to be 8 years old to ride in the front seat. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends that a child be 13 years old to sit in the front seat.Whether a child sits in the front seat between the ages of 8–13, depends on the child’s height and weight, and how comfortably they will fit in the seat belt:Source: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/HealthIn...In California, drivers can be fined more than $475 and get a point on their driving records, therefore increasing insurance rates, if a child under the age of 8 is sitting in the front seat. However, there are some exemptions to the law, and a child under age 8 can ride in the front seat if:There is no rear seat. The rear seats are side-facing jump seats. The rear seats are rear-facing seats. The car seat or booster cannot be installed properly in the rear seat. All rear seats are already occupied by children seven years of age or under.Medical reasons require that a child cannot ride in the rear seat. How do I bring down the folding rear seats of a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan/Touareg?

There are two separate answers for these SUVs. The Touareg has already been answered twice, the Tiguan has a nylon strap at the bottom (left or right depending on the side of the vehicle) of the seat, on the outside. Pull that and it releases the seat. Keep it pulled while positioning the seat in either a reclined, straight back (90 degree) or laid flat position.

How do I fold both rear-seats & one of the front seats in Maruti Swift Diesel Vdi 2014 model?

To maximise the space, you can follow these steps:Fold the rear seat completely after removing the headrest.Remove the headrest of front seat and push the seat as low as it gets. Front seat won’t get completely flat due to the contoured design of the seat. After lowering the seat, push the front seat as far as it goes. This way you will have enough space to accommodate a 6 feet sheet. You can have the sheet curve over the driver’s head if it becomes necessary.

Why are rear seats in car different from front seats?

It's a matter of compromising between quality/comfort, flexibility and economy, as well as building to the average consumer.More often than not, a car only has 1–2 people in it. So it has two larger, comfier seats in the front. If you need more, there are 2–3 back seats, but since they're seldom used, less money and effort is put into ergonomics. They often need to fold down to accomodate additional cargo, so to make that work you're compromising on comfort again. Also, since in most situations, when you have more than 2 people, it's often children, you don't need as much head or foot clearance, which saves expense and fuel economy, but which makes it less comfortable for adults.Of course different vehicles are made with different life styles and situations in mind. Chauffeur cars typically have the biggest and comfiest seats in the back.

My 1988 4x4 Gmc Sierra 1500 will not engage into 4 wheel drive. why could this be?

I bought a used 4x4 gmc truck, when I go to put it into 4 high, or 4 low. It won't light up on the floor. But you can feel it stand up as if it IS in 4 wheel drive. When you drive with it "engaged" it makes a loud howling sound, and the 2 front tires won't spin. What could this problem be? Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thx guys

Why don't cars have a third seat in the front, between the driver's and the passenger's seat?

Most American cars used to. Originally, manual cars had a gear shifter behind the steering wheel, allowing for a bench seat in the front. Here is the 1951 Chevrolet Dash:You can see the gear shifter behind the steering wheel. This started phasing out in the 1970s in cars however, and in the 1980s in trucks. In the mid 1970s, manufacturers started realising it was easier to put a gear lever in the middle of the front for both automatic and manual cars:This is not only easier to use, but it makes a car chassis ambidextrous. Unfortunately, it also made it awkward to shift over anyone sitting in the middle. In the 1960s, manufacturers really wanted to easily make cars with both steering wheels on the left and right for exports, without having to change much other than the steering wheel. One way to do this, was to put the gear shifter in the middle.Additionally, the seat belt made it very difficult to accommodate a third passenger in the front. In the 1970s, the shoulder seat belt was new technology, and rope seatbelts weren’t that safe. After the 1990s, it was still possible to find American cars with bench seats in the front. Namely, the Chevy Impala continued having a bench seat option until 2014:https://www.cars.com/articles/20...In Japan, most Kei Cars have a bench seat in the front, albeit with only two seats instead of 3 (by law, Kei Cars cannot be more than 1.5 metres wide, so it is impossible to accommodate 3 in either the front or back). My brother and I rented a Daihatsu Move, and the bench seat in the front was like this, with a shifter sort of next to the steering wheel:It is automatic though, so not that hard to deal with. I couldn’t imagine driving a manual version of that, if it even existed. In Japan, like in the UK, Jamaica, or Australia, they drive on the left so the steering wheel is on the right. Also, the parking brake was sort of where the clutch would otherwise be, so I don’t know if a manual version would be even possible. If you ever decide to drive in Japan, I do recommend the Daihatsu Move as a rental or for purchase (you can find used ones often for ¥80,000 (about $800 US)) and new ones run for as low as ¥1,500,000 ($15,000)), unless you need room for more than four people. They are a unique experience.Zero to 100 kph (62mph) in as little as 45 seconds, getting passed as you enter the freeway...

88 gmc sierra 4 wheel drive problems?

If your truck uses the manual 4x4 shifter on the floor there is no electrical shifting involved so your 4wd should still work. Just because the light on the dash is out does not mean the 4wd is not engaged. The light on the dash is out because the fuse for the heater blower is blowing, they are using the same fuse for some reason. You either have a heater blower going out causing too many amps to be drawn by the motor or the wires from the 4wd sensor switch are pinched somewhere, probably from when the transmission was replaced. If the heater does not blow a fuse with the 4wd not engaged but blows the fuse within seconds of shifting in the 4wd look for the pinched wire under the truck around the shift linkage for the transfer case. If the blower motor blows the fuse with the 4wd disengaged and the truck parked get ready to replace the blower motor.

What type of motor oil does a GMC Sierra 1500 take?

That answer will be on your oil fill cap, where you put your oil in or also look in your owners manual, but most of the later model cars take 5W/ 30 oil. You can use synthetic or a full synthetic in the same weight. I personally use a heavier weight oil in the summertime due to heat and friction and 5W /30 in the winter. The thinner oil makes an easier start up in the winter. If your vehicle is still under warranty, use what is recommended from the factory as if something happens it could void your warranty and wait until the warranty runs out. Some may not agree with this but Ive done it for many many years with no problems of any kind.
