How Do I Get My Bearded Dragons Tank 100 Tempature Help Pls .

Bearded Dragon Temperature?

Okay, your basking spot should be around 105F. You might need a 75W or 100W bulb to achieve this.

The cooler side of your tank needs to be around 80F.

Stick on and dial type thermometers aren't accurate enough. You can get a digital indoor/outdoor therm. for around $10-15 at WalMart. The probe end should be directly on the basking surface.

The higher watt bulb should increase the temp overall, but if you get your basking temp up and the cooler side is still too cool, you can get a second, lower wattage bulb for the cooler side.
Example, I have a 75W bulb that keeps the basking site @ ~102F, and I have to keep a 60W on the other side to keep those temps up to 80F.

I'm concerned because you got a vivarium "kit" because pet stores sell things that are actually HARMFUL to your beardie. Like Calci-Sand, or Repti-Sand or any other particulate substrate. These are dangerous! They clump into solid hard masses when moist, so if accidentally ingested, that solid mass will be in your beardie's intestines and cause SERIOUS impaction.
It's best to use paper towels, newspaper, non-adhesive shelf liner, or slate tiles (or other types of tiles as long as they are not "slick")

Also, your UVB light...is it the coil type? Because that type is VERY harmful to your beardie. If you have this, I would suggest you take it out right away, as it's better for him to have NO UVB for a few days than to have that bulb!
ReptiGLO 10.0 has also been proven to emit rays harmful to beardies eyes. ReptiGLO 8.0 is okay and ReptiSUN 10.0 is great. They cost a lot in stores, but you can order one online for $20.

My baby bearded dragon's tank is 90 degrees far. on the hot side. Is this okay?

Well for one thing.. a baby in a 55 gallon tank really isn't the best idea... the tank is way too large for your beardie and the size of the tank really is playing a huge part in the heat not getting where it needs to be.
But keep that bulb.. that's the temp that adults need. So you'll need it that temp in that cage when your baby get's to be an adult.
So You'll need to go to the store and get a bigger lamp that can hold a large wattage bulb, and try a 100 watt, or a 125 watt, maybe get a lamp that has a dimmer on it (they have some at petco or petsmart) and you can put a large wattage bulb in there and use the dimmer to try and get the heat where it needs to be.
For a baby, it needs to be at about 100-110*F. Adults need it at 90-100*F.

Also... I would consider splitting your tank in half for now until your baby get's MUCH bigger.

What is the absolute HIGHEST temperature a baby bearded dragon can bask at?

for a baby beardie i would go up to about 90*- 100* because they are so small they would over heat all the time. but if it were med- adult sized then maybe about 100*- 105*.
I would be careful with 110*, if the lamp is close to the basking spot, you might want to move it some especially when you see them open their mouths a lot. you might be cooking your dragon. move it farther so they won't over heat, when they get older, then move it closer so they get the heat they need.

For a 120 gallon bearded dragon cage, what wattage?

A 250w will probably be too hot. You don't have to get the special basking bulbs from a pet store. You can use any regular bulb for a basking bulb, so try a box of 75w and 100w and just see which one gives you the right temps. You MAY need to use a hot bulb as the basking bulb and then another low wattage bulb on the cool side to keep that temp up, but you'll just have to experiment until you find out what combination makes your temps just right.

The only accurate way to measure your temps is with a temp gun or a digital thermometer with a probe directly on the basking spot. This temp should be 100-110 (37.7-43.3C) and the cool side should be around 80 (25.5-27.7C).

Unfortunately, most UVB bulbs on the market are not good quality and can cause health problems in dragons. All compact coil bulbs are dangerous, and the only recommended linear fluorescent bulb is the ReptiSUN 10.0 (not ReptiGLO) in the US or the Arcadia 12% in the UK (http://www.uvguide.co.uk)

Do i keep the UV light for my bearded dragon on 24/7??

Hello, i am the new owner of a bearded dragon. I have his cage all set up with the proper lighting and everything. I was just wondering if I am supposed to turn off the UV light at night or keep it on. I have been turning it off just in case.

Can I use a heating pad in my Bearded Dragon cage?

Yep, the heat pad goes underneath the tank, but you don't need it unless you're having trouble getting temperatures above 100F on the basking spot or if the night time temperature goes below 60F. Beardies don't sense heat well with their bellies, so chances are it won't make much of a difference.

You should purchase a digital thermometre (you can pick them up at any Wal-Mart or hardware store) so you can monitor the temperatures instead of just guessing if he "seems warm enough".

And I just wanted to run a few things by you. If you have sand in the tank, remove it immediately. It's especially bad for babies who tend to be messy eaters and more curious. If it's ingested it can get stuck in the intestines causing an impaction, which is the leading cause of death in reptiles. Replace the sand with paper towels. Here is an example of my hatchling enclosure:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/m...
keep it very simple.
Here is what an adult cage should look like:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/m...
no sand, no impaction

Also, don't feed him mealworms. Mealworms are extremely hard to digest because of their outer shell and have very low nutritional value. They also result in impactions and shock unsuspecting owners when they have a dead beardie who seemed to be healthy. Feed him pinhead crickets, no bigger than the width of his head. As he grows, increase the size of the crickets. They should be dusted in a calcium supplement.

Lastly, you should also have a UV source. Those are the tube, fluorescent lights. I'd recommend nothing lower than a 10.0 Repti Glo bulb. These should be replaced every 6 months.

Good luck!

Keeping my Bearded dragons warm for winter days and nights?

1st of all, a 25 gallon is not big enough for an adult beardie. Don't know how big yours is, but it will outgrow that cage quickly.

2nd, a screened cage is not at all appropriate for a beardie. It lets too much heat out!
A 100W bulb should keep a 40g or bigger comfortable for a beardie, so you are losing a LOT Of heat with the screened cage.

What exactly are your temps and how do you measure them? The only accurate way is with a temp gun or a digital thermometer with a probe directly on the basking spot. This temp should be 100-110 (37.7-43.3C) provided with a bright white basking bulb, which can be just a normal household bulb and the cool side should be around 80 (25.5-27.7C).

If you have a glass tank inside your house, your 100w bulb should be plenty to keep it warm. At night, her temps can drop to the low 60's so if your house is comfy for you, she doesn't need extra heat. A CHE is good if you do need to provide extra heat, though, and it will work in the meantime until you get the right kind of enclosure. Craigslist is a great source for cheap tanks!
