How Do I Get The Magneto On A 4 Stroke Lawn Mower To Work Properly

How can i tell if my lawn mower engine is a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?

Does it have a dip stick? Do you add oil to the gas? I am betting that it is a four stroke. Not many 2 stroke lawnmowers. What is the engine brand? Briggs, Tecumseh?

Lawn mower still wont start i am getting spark and gas is getting to the plug any suggestions cleaned magneto?

Take it to a lawn mower repair shop. There is a strong probability that the key is bent in the shaft/ magneto alignment point. The part is about $3, if you are a fair or good mechanic, then you could replace it yourself IF, you can get the magneto/ flywheel off to remove the old one. This is a common problem on most of these small engines, if you hit a root or a rock, the shaft and flywheel shear the key and the timing is off. The engine shaft may also be bent. Take it to the repair shop.

In a Gas Powered lawnmower How does the Spark Plug keep sparking after Engine Started?

Just a little bit further for clarity...
There is a magnet in the flywheel of the engine, there is also a coil of wire mounted very close to the magnet's path as the flywheel spins. When you pull the rope, flywheel spins around, and the magnet in it passes by the coil, which generates a high voltage in the coil, which is carried to the spark plug.

Timing of the spark is set upon positioning of the coil of wire, and the flywheel is not allowed to change its angular position on the crankshaft through the use of a key. At Top Dead Center (TDC) of the compression stoke, the magnet charges the coil, and a few degrees rotation of the flywheel later, as the magnet moves past the coil, the spark plug is fired just as the piston starts its power stroke. At the bottom of the of the power stroke, the magnet is on the other side of the flywheel. Piston starts to come back up (Exhaust Stroke), and at Top Dead Center again, the magnet passes by the coil and makes the spark plug fire again. But, because the piston is at the end of the exhaust stroke, and the beginning of the intake stroke, the spark is wasted since there is not anything in the cylinder to burn. As piston hits the bottom of the intake stroke, the magnet is once again on the other side of the rotating flywheel. When piston comes up during the compression stroke, the magnet energizes the coil of wire again, spark plug fires, and now ignites the compressed fuel/air mixture. This engine is known as a 4 stroke (aka cycle), the spark plug fires on every revolution of the engine, but you only get 1 power stroke (bang!) every 2 revolutions.

Where is the flywheel located in a 4 stroke motorcycle?

it is your magneto.usually under the cover on the left side as you look down from riding position.it is only part of the magneto/stator assembly.it also has timing marks on it usually.

Lawnmower spark plug keeps blowing?

They will cover the repair under warranty, but not the spark plug. Spark plugs are normal wear & tear items not covered under warranty. The spark plug isn't the problem. Take it back and tell them that it won't restart after you shut it off after mowing for about 20 minutes. Say nothing about the spark plug. Spark plugs rarely fail, especially on your mower as it is too new. You may have a heat problem with the magneto. The time it takes for you to go a buy a spark plug, return and install it gives the magneto time to cool down. Try starting it tomorrow morning with the original plug - I expect it will start. Could also be a carburetor problem, but let them troubleshoot and fix it under warranty. Don't let them tell you it's an engine overheating problem and it's normal. It is not normal - period.

How does a riding lawn mower charge its battery?

I have a Dynamark 12hp riding lawn mower that will not charge its battery. I've already changed out the battery for a new one to no avail. What do I do now. I don't see an alternator anywhere. This mower is maybe 7 years old.....Help! I'm getting tired of jumping the mower with my car.
