How Do I Replace An Indicator Bulb On My Vauxhall Meriva

Why do you have to change a car's alternator when changing the battery?

Well, three possibilities here.One. You alternator failed, killing the battery. Replace the battery, test the alternator. You can't test an alternator with a failed battery. Start the car with the new battery, voltage should go up from 12.5ish to 13–14 volt range.Rev the engine slightly (2500–3000 rpm). Turn on all the electricals, lights, air conditioning, etc. If the voltage drops below 12.8 for more than a second, look at replacing the alternator. It should spring back to 13ish.Often alternators will have a modular regulator. Most parts shops can test and determine if the alternator itself is blown, or if it's just the regulator. The brushes may be gone, and are sometimes integral to the regulator. Either way, it's cheaper than a full alternator. If the alternator is bad — doesn't make voltage; or is weak — doesn't hold voltage: then fix or replace it with the battery.Check the feed cables and battery connections on the off chance they're bad. You should do this regardless.Two. This is a low probability. Your battery failed, killing the alternator. This can happen in the case I forget a dead short in one of the cells of the battery, or a near total loss of liquid in your battery. Either way the battery case will likely be distorted, or even cracked. It will have a voltage less than 9. It may even stink of rotten eggs, with a slight taste of chewing on foil.Three. Your mechanic is a liar and a thief who's trying to get more money out of your pocket and into his. If he says that you have to replace the alternator because the battery is bad, this is the case.

How do i change indicator bulb on passenger side of vauxhall vectra?

Well you pretty much will have to move the battery out of the way or remove it altogether!!! So you can get your hands down there. Once your in there twist the socket for the bulb to the left then it will pop out change the bulb usually again by pushing down and twisting, remove it put the new one in put the socket in then put the battery back in!!! Haven't done one in years so don't quote me on the battery i think ya might be able to squeeze ya hand down there!!!

My vauxhall astra plays up when i signal left. the signal flashes really quickly instead of every 2 seconds or?

All good answers..usually its a blown bulb...But Jarrah00 is quite right in his comment on the relay or as it is commonly known "flasher unit"..this,although rarely occasionally packs in and gives the same symptom (rapid flashing)..As Jarrah00 says, trace its location by operating and listen to where the clicking noise is coming from.

Why does the oil light comes off when accelerating and goes on when braking in an Opel Corsa 1.4i Gamma hatchback? There is enough oil in the engine.

Other answers (at the time I write this) are declaring “oil pressure at lower engine revs" But you didn't say that! If it does happen only at low revs and with a hot engine, then the others are right. But if you can eliminate the revs effect, and oil temperature effect, then there has to be another reason.First see if the light only comes on with hot engine and is ok when cold. If so, that suggests pressure loss. Check if light only comes on at low revs and is ok at higher revs while you are stopped. If so, that suggests pressure loss. If these are negative, drive at about 60km/hr, and assuming light is out, slip car into neutral so revs drop (you have already proven revs are irrelevant by now) and brake hard. If light comes on there is something else to blame and not pressure related. More likely that the oil pump is starved of oil.I'm sorry I can't offer an explanation, but it is more related to the forces generated by acceleration and braking than pressure or rev related. (Are you certain thete is enough oil in the sump)

What does it mean when a car's battery light turns on while the car is moving (eventually car decelerates and stops)?

The alternator is failing or has ceased functioning. Whereas the engine's torque is usually giving your car constant electricity using the alternator, when it fails to do so the battery's reserved power is then used. Usually the battery is only used to start the vehicle. It obviously has enough power to spark the plugs, but only for so long, especially if you are also running your radio, A/C, headlights, etc. Once the battery is dead, the car is dead. This happened to me more than once. The alternator has a finite life in every car, so there comes a time when it will die, and it will almost certainly not be at the most opportune moment. Recognize signs of this happening before it is too late. Mine was failing for months before it inevitably gave in and I finally figured out what was wrong. A similar issue is if your serpentine belt snaps, the engine is no longer running your alternator, whether it's in good shape or not. This will cause more issues than the car just dying in five minutes- the water pump will cease functioning to cool your engine down and you will eventually overheat it and perhaps irreparably damage the vehicle. There are possibly other things that can cause this issue but this seems by and large the most likely.

Why did my car shake and the check engine light flash while stopped at a light?

What you experienced was almost certainly a misfire event and the cause may be recorded as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the engine controller’s memory. Most failures that are significant enough to cause MIL illumination will record a trouble code and its environmental/ data information from the moment, even if the MIL is no longer lit. Onboard Diagnostics work constantly to keep the MIL off, looking for a reason to turn the CE light out if the condition hasn’t been seen again recently, eventually even erasing trouble codes if all’s good. I can only speculate on the nature of your event, but a thorough scan to retrieve codes and freeze frame data of the moment will often shed some light on the situation.Misfires come in many flavors, ranging from slight loss of performance in a single cylinder, to one or more holes being completely dead. Your description of shake at an idle implies a power imbalance, which usually involves complete loss of performance, but just one hole.Barring an at-home scanner being available, rolling the ignition key from LOCK to RUN three times, then leaving it in the RUN position at the end will initiate the customer code-read feature, spilling any matured codes stored in the PCM through the instrument cluster’s odometer window. All codes will be four digits in length, beginning with the letter P, such as P0123. DTC information can be found at OBD2-OBDII Engine Light Trouble Codes Definitions, Description and Repair Information online.One-trip failures - those that have not quite matured - will not be displayed in this feature, but will show up on a high-end scanner if present. If only a single cylinder misfire code is retrieved, pull the coil and spark plug to inspect for signs of flashover - black marks on the upper spark plug insulator and inner coil boot that will not scratch off with a fingernail. Flashover is pretty common on coil-on-plug ignition systems and the cure is to replace both the boot and spark plug together. Worn plugs tend to incite this sort of situation as spark will always seek the path of least resistance. If your DTC list includes an injector control circuit code that matches the cylinder of misfire, chances are good that the injector is at fault. The injector may test as completely normal when cooler, but will go to an open circuit once heated, either naturally or with a heat gun.

1st-Time BMW 325i Service Quotes in UK?

OK starting from the top, the DME relay is used to control the emitions on the car fitted with a Bosch fuel injection system, I suspect that if it works don't change it. Map thermostate, is the car was driven at altertude and now you are driving at sea level, then yes it will need changing.
Side light bulb, change them yourself.
Headlight pattern, in the US you drive on the other side of the road therefore the head light shine to the right. In the UK we drive on the other side, there for the lights will shine into on coming cars. Search the web for the stick on covers that you can purchase to change the light patter (Probably cost no more than £20) or eBay for non BMW head lights.
Indicator lense, remove yourself, clean out and seal up the crack with clear silicon.
Wiper blades, replace yourself.
Front badge, leave it as is.
Brake fluid, get a quote from Kwick Fit or HiQ (probably £30)
Coolant Change, have a second opinion on this, its possible it only needs a top up.
V-belt, Halfords, do it yourself.
Steering rack, very very strange that the whole steering rack needs to be replaced. Take the car down to your local HiQ or Kwick Fit and ask them for a second opinion. I suspect that the tie bars or the tracking control arms are worn. Expect to pay no more than £50 to have them replaced.
In short, most dealer garages will try to replace complete assemblies rather than trying to fix individual parts. By the sound of things these guy's are trying to take you for a ride.
Ja.

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Why does the Subaru Forester have only one reverse light?

I’m assuming you’re in a country where rear fog lamps are mandatory. It’s about saving money, as well as not screwing up an otherwise clean design. The latter is subjective, so I’m not going to give my 2 cents about it (since I don’t know what the designer’s intentions were). In terms of saving money, you could add auxiliary fog lamps to the rear bumper or something, and it would cost the customer maybe $100 extra (because it isn’t just a bulb. It’s bulbs, housing, harnesses to reach said bulbs, mounting clips, etc.). Not much, considering you’re buying a car that costs $22,000+.But consider what that extra $100 means to the automaker. I don’t know how much Subaru would end up paying for the whole auxiliary lamp setup, but it’ll be less than $100 for sure. Even then, it’s a significant amount of money to blow away. The Subaru Forester sold 177,000 examples in 2017 (US numbers). Let’s say that the auxiliary lamps cost Subaru $50 each to include. That’s $8.8 million that they’ll be throwing away. The customer may not feel much of a difference with the extra $100, but Subaru certainly feels the pinch of setting $8.8 million on fire. That amount does not include the additional costs of telling suppliers they don’t have to include mounting points on the bumper for Foresters sold in countries without mandated fog lamps. So really, the most economical and logical solution is to simply have one reverse lamp, and one fog lamp.
