How do I turn up the volume on my Toshiba computer with Harman/Kardon speakers?

I have worked for a prominent computer company's tech support for more than a year before I had to go to Anaheim, CA... Anyway, as I recall, aside from the speaker icon on near the clock on the lower right hand side of your computer's screen which is where you could virtually adjust the volume control and mute the speakers, you could also manually do it. You simply need to locate the volume control knob which is usually located on the front side of the computer near the earphone jack input. It is a scrolling knob which has no end, so just keep on turning it until you are satisfied with the speaker volume. I don't think there is anything wrong with the drivers since you mentioned that you hear sound coming off the speakers and the computer being a brand new if i'm not mistaken. If you're still having problems afterwards, I would advice you to go on-line to www.support.toshiba.com and look for the option to register your product on-line (it takes 72 hours for the on-line registration process which you have to do only once). anyway, 3 days after you register the computer on-line and you're still not satisfied, you can call the toll free Customer Tech Support hotline number +18004577777 and a trained Toshiba Technician would be more than happy to help you. Whatever country the support comes from, please be polite and be patient with whomever would take your call for after all, you called them in the first place to ask for their assistance. I do hope you will enjoy using your new Toshiba computer and be satisfied with it's performance (although if you want my personal opinions and advice with regards to computer performance, maintenance and usage, try to look for the advices I've been giving to the other members). If you want to learn more about your laptop's specs and updates available, do visit the support website from time to time for more info and just enter in you Satellite's model number in the box provided for in Tech Support.

Do you know why my computer won't let me turn my volume up?

at the bottom right of your screen you will see an image that looks like a speaker, Left Click it and you should be given a volume bar, if you are still unable to change the volume make sure there isnt an external volume control on your Monitor, Speaker or even an in-line control,
If you play your sound through your monitor there may be a buttom that turns the sound up and down
same with the speakers
if you are using a Laptop there will be a button of the keyboard that says Fn (Function) hold this down and find another button on your keyboard that has a picture of a Speaker on it, this may help turn the sound up
If non of these work, try a drive update for your speaker.
then right click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and click manage
then click the Device Manager tab at the left hand side of the window
then click the little arrow at the left of Sound, Video & Game Controls
Right click on the Audio device and click properties
click on the Driver tab at the top of the window
then click the Update Driver button
This may take a while but it is searching the internet for the latest drivers so you MUST have an internet connection

Hope this helps

How do I turn up the volume on the computer without using the mouse?

Another way to do it is click tab while on desktop. Start menu will highlight first most likely. Hit enter, and use the arrows to navigate the start menu. Look for control panel, and follow the directions previously about control panal.

And for volume control when you get to it, Up Down Arrows work for me. I use that, even with my mouse active sometimes. Since my laptop has a spinning volume control, thats a bit sensative.

The maximum volume on my computer isn't loud enough. How can I turn my volume up?

have you gone to the control panel and the sound tab and turned the volume up there ?

How can I turn the volume on my computer up for dialogue and down for music and background noise?

You’d have to either have separate settings for background music and dialog or perhaps some sort of sound editing software that can filter out dialog and background music. Most games have sound settings for dialog, music, background effects, and a master volume. But on something like netflix there is no way to seperate the volume for those things, so you just have the master volume. There may be a program out there that does that, but if I so I’ve never heard of it.

How do I adjust the volume of my record player?

I have an Audio-Technica stereo turntable. I connected it to my computer's speakers, and the record sounds great, but it is EXTREMELY loud. I don't know how to adjust the volume. There is nowhere on the turntable to adjust the volume, and whenever I turn the knobs on the speakers, nothing happens. I've also tried adjusting my computer's sound settings but nothing seems to work. How can I adjust the volume?

Is it better to have your stereo volume all the way up, or your Bluetooth phone volume all the way up, or a 50/50 split?

I am so thankful for you to ask this question. There IS a certain amount of distortion in the BT signal and I shall elaborate on that.Android OS running on most of tablets and non-apple smart phones uses the setting called Volume Control for MEDIA to affect Bluetooth volume from 0 to 60%. As soon as you reach above 60% on the Volume slider on your Android portable device, the SIGNAL ITSELF will become distorted, since you are no longer sending the original digital audio along with an information at which volume it should be played by the BT device, you are ACTUALLY MANIPULATING/AMPLIFYING the digital signal. And as many of you know, amplifying a digital audio signal past -0 dB will result in so called CLIPPING - a situation, where a normal original clear sound-wave gets distorted, because its parts with the highest amplitude get amplified beyond the digitally set limit. The amplitudes get squashed, squared off and a clear sinusoidal sound wave will become a rectangular or saw wave, which makes the audio distorted and hummed.Long story short: Keep your portable device’s volume for Bluetooth broadcast at 50/60% for clear signal.AndAmplify the clear signal to your liking by turning the volume knob in your car/on your Bluetooth speaker etc.Just to clarify, the reason for Android OS to use this two-step amplification, which actually distorts audio is, that originally, BT was designed for voice. And if you absolutely need to understand the other person and NEED their voice louder, you just do not care about the quality anymore. You pay the price of distorting the signal somewhat, because in return, you get the information from the speaker on the other side of the phone line...
