How do you block text messages?
do you mean instant messages or text messages on your phone? If IMs, you can block the user under your settings. If text messages, you can call you cell phone provider and have them block text messaging all together or just certain phone numbers.
How can one stop receiving messages from someone on Facebook's messenger without actually blocking them?
There's no way to stop receiving messages from someone without blocking them. You can turn off chat for a friend or friend lists, however, this will just make their messages appear in your inbox rather than pop-up like a normal chat. You can also mute a conversation so that you no longer get notifications from that user.Originally, Facebook's recommended solution was to move a conversation with that person to your "Other" inbox, so you basically could get messages from that user, but they would always be tucked away in your "Other" inbox until you check it. However, this doesn't seem to be possible anymore.
Can I block someone on Gmail without receiving any email from them?
Since email is not controlled by a specific company, it is impossible to not receive emails from someone, similar to a phone call. However, gmail offers some very nice filtering features that will let you decide what you want to do with that email after it arrives in your mailbox, just like you can block a phone number on your phone. If you go to Settings, then the Filters and Blocked Address tab, you can set up filters automate processing of certain emails that correspond to the rules that you selected.
How do you block a message?
I can block text messages on my Samsung Android Oreo system phone by going into my text message icon. I then press the message I want to delete/block and when that pulls up I then go into the menu/settings (three vertical dots) at the top. These menu/settings will then pull up a page and give you the options to block/delete the unwanted number/message. I always give disclaimers as I can't guarantee the instructions for my phone are universal in application.I assume by blocking a message you want to block any future messages from that number. I get a lot of spam texts so my instructions are for deleting and blocking this messages as they come in. If you know a number that you don't want to receive any texts from you can go into your text icon and into your menu/settings and pull up block numbers. Just key in the number you wish to block.P.S. According to the original question only text messages were referred to. I did not address messages from any other origin including Quora.

I couldn't even find "options" on my email page---I bet something has changed in the last 7 years---ya' think? I know how to "SPAM" someone, but I wanted to keep some of these annoying **** from even getting into my mailbox. How do I block obscene spam without opening the email?
You can control your spam! You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it. First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you. Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox. Use your spam guard and block address. Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it Options /mail options Click on 'spam' in the list on the left. Make sure spam guard is on, by checking in the little box. Then in 'Blocked Email Addresses,' enter the E-mail address you wish blocked, in the box after 'Add a blocked address' and click on the 'add' button, then click on save changes at top left of screen. You will never get mail from that address again. This should help you to control your spam. Other tips: Do not ever open E-mail from people you do not know; and unless you are absolutely sure who it is from then treat them as spam. Opening spam alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more of it to you. Never, ever give out your account information or other personal information to anyone. If you are on a site and you absolutely have to sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you any other info, notices, catalogs, ads, and the like. Added detail: Yes, spammers change one item in their addresses a lot, so you might try blocking the entire domain, by putting in *@ thedomainyouwanttoblock.com for instance: *@seeyou.com Or, if they change the domain, instead of the company name you can block the name by putting in Imatheft_inc@* Hope this helps

Like I’ve told many others, many other times, you cannot. Period.Delete the email address.Get a new one. Put a auto responder on the current address saying “Sorry, this email is going dark. Good bye”If important people get the message, they’ll ask you for the correct address. (They’ll know how to contact you in other mediums … maybe even in person! Imagine that!)After about 6-months or so, just DELETE that old address.From that point on that email address will BOUNCE. Boom. Good bye.Good riddance!
